I have a problem. When I find a player I want, and have agreed a price with the club etc I choose a Squad status.
Even when I pick the one with the * sometimes the player says he's not happy to negociate a salary. Then when I want to change the status - cause I really want to buy him, I can't as I've already offered him one.
Any ideas how to get round this?:o

Withdrawn the bid and then try again and offer him first team football he should then agree terms

Or offer him one above what he expects. If you give him exactly what he wants then he sometimes expects more money, or won't join at all.
I have had players not want to join when i put them as "indespensable", they say something about not wanting the pressure.

I thought you have to wait a while before you can change their squad status. I'm sure you do. Wait about a month and then bid again.

I think it may be 2 weeks you have to wait, from memory.

i always always always make them "part of a rotation system".... stops any big heads.... if they want indispensable, their wages will break the bank too

Take it you never get to buy any top big name players then. unless the're about 35.

Yeah, but when you can buy people like Patrick Kluivert you always should. And what about if you've bought a player, he then get an average of over 8.50 for 5 years then wants a new contract and wants to be an indispensible member of the squad. Do you just sell him? Stupid if you do.

well, it's always worked for me! if he's going to leave over something like that, **** him, BYE BYE.... i always have plenty of options, either within the squad, or on my shortlist, to replace him with.... :hmph:

So you can find someone that gets that high of an average no problem. Highly unlikely.

What i have taken to in recent games is finding quality young players (through CMScout sometimes) and developing them, i take pride in bringing the players on and praising them when they do well and not punishing them for doing badly.
They also get happier when you change the squad status from "Hot Prospect" to "Important First Team Player".
I have found that these are quality.
Magne Hoseth, Molde.
Kim Källström, Häcken.
Thijs Houwing, Twente.
Philippe Christanval, Monaco (Barca in real life) and a recent find...
Andres D'Alessandro, River Plate.
Oh the pride i felt when D'Alessandro got called into the Argentina squad aged 19!!

i don't really care about averages.... i generally have a couple of players in the high 7's and one maybe in the 8's, and the rest of the team average 7 or so.... i don't really care, it's a team game, i generally don't need a "star".... played Ibrahimovic as "squad rotation" for 10 years or so, and he always got sackloads of goals and never grumbled.... sorry if this isn't the case in your game, but try not to be so condescending in the future? it's not like i'm making this stuff up, is it?
