Right, we`ve all played this game before, I give a lyric from a song, you name the song and the artist. More coming throughout the day. These are the 8 songs I listened to last today.

Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom!
4. Love is the place that you are drawn to
5. Dont you try to talk to me, Im a spaceman sitting in the sky
6. Its only 4`O clock in the morning and your still driving round the bend
7. My boyfriend has dumped me, and headed for the country, for a boy who wears white socks
8. If I leave here tommorow, would you still remember me.

Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin. Unless you listened to the naff Ugly Kid Joe cover. And I recognise no. 6 but can't place the song. Grrrr.
7: Supernaturals - The Day Before Yesterday's Man
5. Kula Shaker (yuk): Smart Dogs
Pidster

Very good people, but theres still a few missing, any ideas on 4 and 6?
And Yes, I listened to the Ugly Kid Joe version ;)
4 is very difficult, an obscure song that I doubt many have heard. Heres another line to help you.
Look into outer space, its around you.

Congratualtions slowdog, it was a toughy. I doubt many on here have even heard of The Flaming Lips.
It is in fact What is the Light, from the Soft Bulletin.

Finally got it. The actual lyric is "It's only four o'clock in the morning and you're still driving me around the bend". 'Happiness is Egg-Shaped' by the Seahorses.
No 6 is the wonderful Seahorses - Happiness is egg shaped. From 1997.

Most may be too recent for me but it's a cracking idea for a thread.
This could run and run.

tmjwat, either you are Steve Lamaq in disguise, or you are looking these up! Either way, well done, 5 is correct.
Yes, 7 is Wannadies.
Yes, 6 is Gorkys, but which one? Anyone?
No, 1 is not Cosmic Rough Riders.
Think Mr Miyagi.

does anyone want to post a few beat sequences for me to guess cos I don't listen to much guitar music....or music with any words at all really. Apart from old Rap but that would send the swear filter into fits.
Something like...boom ba-dam bap, boom, boom, boom ba-dam bap
Any guesses?

This song is a few years old, I guess, but nothing ancient. I am only 20 myself.
Have I got you hook line and sinker?
Make that two clues now.
Jaffa
02-07-2001, 01:50 AM
Come on chaps this is a very poor show.
Ive given you two major clues to number 5.
Im off to sun myself in the Med.
Must be New Order, from the clues, but Barney Sumner was prone to 'lalalala' it up a bit, so which song I know not.
Jaffa
02-07-2001, 04:32 PM
Grr.
Im going to give this one to you as it is obvious no one is going to guess it.
5. Monaco - What Do You Want from me
clue 1 was: what more do you want from me
clue 2 was: HOOK line and sinker (Peter Hook is in Monaco)
clue 3 was: Im off to sun myself in the med (Monaco is on the med)
Try the others.
