Number of bets; 20 in the first round and 15 in the second round.
This thread is only to be used for competition comments. Any other bets that are not part of the Masters should be put on the normal Betting Thread.

Anyone who wishes to take part in the betting masters '17 must “register” (post on this thread) before the end of 17 of April. It's free to join and the only rule upon joining is that you start your first tip with I'M IN in capitals at the start of it so that I can keep an easy trace of when people started their campaigns.

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days.

3 In the second round the 4 finalists all start on 0 points, but the winner from the first round will get an additional 10 points (1 bet) to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round.

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the 01 of April (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on Wednesday 20/04/05. Then the top four posters come together in a mini league from there on and out April month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the 30, April.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score on May 1.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as a single bet in the masters, which means 10 points / 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. When an event has started it is not allowed to edit one's own bets/posts.

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together.

Well yeah I get the same with that calculator. A bit difficult to know why when you can’t see “the reasoning” behind those numbers there.

Here’s how I got my total:
25 x 5 = 125 for the 1.place
25 / 4 x 5 = 31.25 for the placing
Since this is the way the total has been calculated from the e/w bets here in the Masters, I (and seeing as you haven’t got a problem with it) think it’s safest to keep with the same formula ..big win either way! Should be a shoe-in for the next round already..:)

Yeah...I've seen the light on the matter now!
Not often we've had a 1.place winner with e/w bets..mostly 2-3.place wins...

The problem is though if Betfair doesn't allow e/w bets.
Because they generally have higher odds than "normal" bookies.

The other option would be seeing the bet as a normal single bet.

This seeing as the only option would have been to place the bet as a single bet with betfair.

Void bet...

Seeing as I'm no more biased than anyone else I vote for option 1.

Well whatever happens it your perogative as you take time out to run this every month and I respect your decision. Although from my point of view I'm disappointed as although it's my fault for placing the bets incorrectly I have done e/w bets for months on here and this is the first time it has been mentioned (also the first time i've won biggish) even to the fact that last month I had an e/w bet that was paid when finished second (under the exact same circumstances).

Betfair dont do e/w but they do horses to place, which are fixed odds, and normally first 3.

I of course see your point, about this just being mentioned for the first time after you’ve had a big win, is a bit unfair.
But I don’t use Betfair and as such don’t know there rules, that’s why I haven’t commented on it before.
The core of the problem is that Betfair do normally have higher odds than regular bookies. You didn't happen to check other bookies odds on the horse at the same time as when you placed the bet?

As I say, I’m a bit in two minds ....would very much like to hear others opinions on the matter...

Yeah it was 20/1 with Ladbrokes and the same with BET365

Id go with the 20/1, to be fair Betfair offers bigger odds on the win market and doesnt offer e/w, the reason bookies offer lower odds is because they do offer e/w betting and so if the horse does place then they do not have as much of a payout.
