In the Observer gossip it had a piece on us buying the Latvian goalkeeper, after mentioning that the Arse we also out watching Latvian players.

Then it went on to say that a £1m 20,000 per week offer was going to be made for Zamarano, but gave no indication of which team, although it came straight after our mention.

Anyone heard anything, we seems consistent with us goign round Europe trying to buy aging centre forwards, a la Madal?

Now come on guys you can't honestly believe he would even set foot inside the doors at SE25.

However if he sung along to "Glad All Over" with as much enthusiasm as he sung his national anthem during France '98 - well who knows.

Seriously though, surely after the debacle of the last two years let's build for the future with both feet on the ground. This sound like a knee-jerk reaction to a less than convincing start to the season.
