"OUT of contract Paris Saint Germain striker Mickael Madar has turned down the opportunity of a week's trial at Crystal Palace.

The former Everton frontman had been a target for Bordeaux until they signed Pauleta, and Palace stepped in with a view to offering him a two-year deal.

However, the former French international rejected the opportunity, saying: "For the moment, I am not interested."

Palace failed in a bid to sign Middlesbrough striker Alun Armstrong earlier this week and will have to continue their search for a striker elsewhere."

Reckognise the name but can't remember if his ne good?

He scored against us last time we played Everton at Selhurst !

Might as well change a trend eh !!

He's average - better than Armstrong but not an ideal target man I'd say.

I think we had a lucky escape. Madar is not a prolific scorer(around 50 goals scored in 200 league apps up to 1999), he is 32, and coz, of his 'star status' would probably require £10k per week minimum, all his gas bills being paid by the club, and various women to be supplied to his Chelsea penthouse, also a 'gift' from his potential employers.

After dear old Valerian Ismael, I think we should avoid French players, and Continentals in general.

BIG LETTER!

A quality player, who weighed in with some very important goals for Everton (most notably saving them away at Spurs), and actually had a very respectable goals/games ratio for them. I think he would be the perfect foil for either of our current first choice strikers. However, he would cost ****loads, and no doubt just see us as a stepping stone. Still, its a very encouraging sign of our ambition.

No, no ,no ,no, no. Madar is not the answer - he's useless.

I know he scored against us for Everton a few years back but so what? Has-beens like Platt and McInnes have scored against us recently too but it doesn't mean they're worth buying does it?

Mikael Madar - whatever next.

Madar played a good game against us at Selhurst a couple of seasons ago, but let's be frank and fair about it; if a club like Everton fails to match his so-called ambitions - how will we suffice?

Especially when we've signed him up to the tune of a few thousand sheckles per week.

Regarding a trial with Palace; he has been quoted as saying "For the moment, I'm not interested".

I think that says it all.

Sean Goater - good choice, but not sure he's the target-man we're looking for.

And unfortunately given Man City's recent elevated status, he's probably going to cost a couple of million.
