This thread is only to be used for competition comments. Any other bets that are not part of the Masters should be put on the normal Betting Thread.

Anyone who wishes to take part in the betting masters '21 must “register” (post on this thread) before the end of 18 of September. It's free to join and the only rule upon joining is that you start your first tip with I'M IN in capitals at the start of it so that I can keep an easy trace of when people started their campaigns.

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days. Maximum bet on a single game is 10 points, same rule applies for identical multis.

3 In the second round the 4 finalists all start on 0 points, but the winner from the first round will get an additional 10 points (1 bet) to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round.

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the 01 of September (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on Tuesday 20/09/05. Then the top four posters come together in a mini league from there on and out September month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the 30, September.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score on October 1.

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as Yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as a single bet in the masters, which means 10 points / 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. When an event has started it is not allowed to edit one's own bets/posts.

14. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that if you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together.

My fear was Fahey's second string would turn it over. Almost happened, second at 33's! Jmes Caird ran down the field behind Realism at York ovr mile two and a half and was making headway 3 furlongs out, subsequently beaten oveer same course by Pedrillo and Impeller over mile and one after making headway over one out so my theory is the drop to a mile should be ideal! Worh an each way pjnt at 20's I reckon. Thankfully I had Realism and Yankee each way so am up on the day quite a bit.

The odds were fluctuating, just using the track toteboard. I was playing the track odds, not a fixed odd play. Not sure how you want to grade it, but I'll take the 5/1. I figured that when you posted the results, you took into acount the final tracks odds.

If I understand you right you couldn't have got the 5/1 as a fixed odds play!? If you could it would mean 60 points, if not then we have to take the starting odds.

I don't know about other places, but where I am betting you use the final track payouts. The morning line was 5/1, but I don't know of places to put a bet down on the morning line, so I just used the final payouts in my calculations. Have you been using the fixed odds for your horse picks?

Bet 9 was an exacta. Not sure what its called in other countries. (A double, maybe) Its picking the 1st and 2nd place horses.

Funk Butter's bet 9 was not a double on two races but a reverse forecast (that's what it's called in the UK, not sure about Norway!) so getting the first and 2nd in one race (in either order so 2 bets). Nice touch FB!

In the US I believe they only have a betting pool so you can't get the morning line odds, you can though get fixed odds from people like Betfair
