PALACE SIGN LATVIAN 'KEEPER
***************************
Crystal Palace Football Club have today agreed terms with Skonto
Riga for the transfer for Latvian international goalkeeper
Aleksanders Kolinka for 600,000. Kolinka has been training with
Alan Smith's side and appeared in the World Cup qualifying match
against Scotland last weekend. Palace have also made a 3million bid
for Southampton striker James Beattie as they continue to
strengthen their squad.
Chairman Simon Jordan continues to show his intentions in the
transfer market. He said:
"I have already spent over 3million on transfers since I took
over the club, and these two bids continue to show our intentions
of making Crystal Palace a real force in football at the highest
level as soon as possible."

I must emphasise that this isnt a whinge, but, whilst I admire Mr Jordan for the many splendid things he is doing at the club, it may be a bit premature to start making such bold statements to the press. We all know he has the club's best interests at heart, but by saying such things you just leave yourself wide open to get shot down in flames by the press. His actions speak as loud as his words - and words can come back to haunt you!

Well as I mentioned before - he looked pretty sound on the TV the other day - general performance looked good and he made a couple of good saves. On the whole though he didn't have a lot to do.
think it would've been fun to sign his team mate Blagonadezhdin, would've made a fortune on letters for the back of the shirt.... and the songs. well.... ryhmes with..er...ooh...dunno.

Flanagan & Allen?
Seriously, if the club don't mind me stopping for a pint of guinness and a fag from time to time I'd be happy to give it a go!

After reading the Tizer clips Smith doesn't think Kolinka will be ready to play against Barnsley latter known the Burnley game. I think it's something to do with the amount of time it takes to receive a work permit for him.
Also, Smith hopes he can persuade Arsenal to let Taylor stay for the whole season.
