Had a fiver at 11-10. Profit = £5.50. Cheers. First bet I've had in a couple of years.

Well done moverman. :p

I was given a massive tip for a horse called Sabreflight at Wetherby today but chose to ignore it.

Won by about 20 lengths at 2/1. :sob:

I think it's usually caused by the fact that the so-called Goldmine makes no money. ;)

Good stuff. Any tips would be greatfully received.

I was first off betting at a window at the track and I had no idea of the odds I was getting. I was just reading the race card, checking the form. Bet on one dog, it won, went to get my winnings, I got £4.40 back, I only bet £4.00!! Obviously the Favorite, but I never knew that. Short odds, no point taking the risk unless a cert!

So I headed to a different part of the track when the really bookies are, up on a box, scribbling down the odds and shouting out. I picked my dog 'Norwood Lass' (Palace connection) min bet £5 at 3 to 1, and it won!! £20 - Thanks very much!! Much more like it and enjoyable!

The one and only time I went to the dogs was Hove last year. I decided that rather than pfaff around with the bookies I would just do a £1 reversed forecast on traps 5 and 3 in every race. Cost me £28.

In the second race traps 5 and 3 came in at 8/1 and 6/1. The forecast paid £80! Didn't come in any more that night but I was well-chuffed anyway.

Isn't dog racing even more bent than horse-racing?

Portsmouth has the highest ratio, for trap 1 winners, of any dog track in the UK.

Thats interesting. It seemed quite a tight small circuit, and obviously the track 1 dog has the inside lane. I was better on Lane 1-3 dogs as the others did not get a look in.
Not that I have been to another greyhound location...

Any other info?

I think you're ok p & p. You have made it clear that you only want horse and greyhound tips in here and that makes this thread sufficiently different from the other betting ones. :p

I can't understand half the tips on the Betting Thread - they'll bet on anything in there - "which nostril will Ozeagle pick first when he wakes up in the morning"?, that sort of stuff.

The other betting threads are too long and dont make a lot of sense to me. Takes to long to get into it. The new thread has a fresh feel to it!

Im glad I have got on this one from the start, easier that way.
Also Greyhound racing is more interesting as I actually go a few times.

Hennessy and hardy i have been given by 'contacts'.

Direct Flight is a decent beast from a decent trainer with a decent jock on boeard claiming 3.

Others are just ones i think will win :)

Having looked at the form and other bits of information available, those horses are the ones that i think will have the best chances of winning their races.

The contacts are reliable sources in the horse racing world (we'll leave it at that ;) )

Trust me, i came in the top 15 in the country in the fantasy cheltenham we did last year (http://forums.cpfc.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=102717&perpage=25&highlight=cheltenham&pagenumber=10) :lux:

Gonna give celestial gold a chance to win back some pennies and will get on that soon each way. If it is expected to go well it wont be 14/1 closer the time once DJ and all have put their dough on! Is a tough race, any of the top 7 or 8 could win that on a going day day and am not confident enough about any of them to go piling in ante post so just a small e/w at mo for me.

For world hurdle, i cant really choose between baracouda and no refuge, slightly favouring the french one though but a forecast will def also be done.

ATM Martin pipes stable are well out of form and could struggle to win the trainers championship.DJ got so many horse but the best he has i s Well Cheif shame its out the the rest of the season.

Now for the World Hurdle as Inglis Drevers out,It all lays down to Howard Johnsons other horse - No Refuge been backed since I.D out.I cant see Baracouda beating that but who knows what will happen on the day.

Racing Demon is another good bet to win the Arkle at 5/1 now time March come it be well shorten up by then.

I fancy Moscow to come good again..:p

BARRY GERAGHTY insists punters should not rule Moscow Flyer out of the Queen Mother Champion Chase picture.
The 12-year-old has won the race twice before but he has looked a little lacklustre in his last two starts, suffering a surprise defeat at Navanbefore finishing out of the frame at Leopardstown over Christmas.

However, big-race pilot Geraghty believes Jessica Harrington's stable star can return to his best when the yard begins to hit a bit of form.

"He ran well enough (at Leopardstown) but Ijust thought he caught the top of the second-last," Geraghty told At The Races.

"A lot of Jessie's horses, Macs Joy included, are 10 lengths off where they were last year - I'd be putting Moscow's disappointment down to that.

"Some of them have just been running disappointingly and blowing themselves up.

"If he can get back to where he was, his best form, I think he will take a lot of beating."

Moscow Flyer, who was unbeaten in all his completed starts until meeting with defeat at Punchestown last April, is a general 5-1 chance for the Cheltenham Festival..

his email to me said "One of my dogs has a race in Ireland tomorrow... Im not sure how easy it is to get a bet on but his trial times do not reflect his ability if you know what I mean ;-) "

Track is Thurles, if anyone knows which bookies take bets that would be appreciated

Question now is do I break my plan (not a NY resolution!) not to gamble till payday!!

Great young dog..If it in the lead round the 1st bend nothing in the country gets near it..worth a few quid on though..(For the Derby)I do fancy Charlie Listers other Dog Fear Me .

You cant right off last years Winner Westmead Hawk,But they reckon they got one better this Year Never been beaten in a open race Westmead Joe

Yeah I have got money on Fear Me and Westmead Hawk at big antepost prices as well. Just got a feeling that ZigZag dutchy is pinging the boxes everywhere at the moment and nothing is catching it. Another dog which is worth a punt on is Droopys Stacey at 50/1. Very good dog on the day.

Maybe another horse to be pulled out at Cheltenham

CHAMPION HURDLE favourite Feathard Lady has been ruled out of the Irish equivalent later this month after incurring an injury that has thrown plans for her Cheltenham preparation "up in the air".
Colm Murphy confirmed that the unbeaten six-year-old, who won the Christmas Hurdle at Sandown on Boxing Day in eyecatching fashion, has suffered a setback which means she will miss Leopardstown's AIG (Europe) Champion Hurdle on January 29.

Murphy now faces an anxious wait before discovering the full extent of Feathard Lady’s injury and whether it will rule her out of the Festival.

He said on Tuesday: "She has strained a hind fetlock joint. This first showed up yesterday afternoon and although it didn’t seem to be much at the time, it was no better this morning so we got the vet to look at her.
