Can someone please tell me what the best formation is to play.
This was a favourite of mine.
Keeper
RB........ CB ..............LB
DM
RW CM CM LW
AM
Striker
The full backs running inwards.
the wingers running right the length of the field and a bit inwards.
The attacking midfielder running back to support the midfield.
THIS IS NO LONGER WORKING THOUGH AAAAAGH.
What do you think the best formation is? sorry if this has been asked a few hundred times before.

I have used this formation for clubs from the lower leagues upto a Premier and Seria A side. It works I promise, of course you still need to bring good players in but I promise even if you never buy a single player you will gain promotion from your starting league.
The formation is 3-1-3-1-2

AM/FC

Do not have any arrows indicating runs when first playing, If you are losing push your AM/FC up with the arrow do not move his position, if still losing do the same with your midfielders except the middle one, again do not move their position.
Play mixed passing, hard tackling, offside trap.
Good luck, if you wish me to mail or post the zip file formation let me know.

4-1-3-2
Worked in every league I've played in (Croatian, Portugese, English, Italian). Defensive midfielder in front of defense, all 3 midfielders attacking, can be left/centre/right attacking midfielders if you want.

Here's what I use:
DC DC DC
DML DMR
MC MC
AMC
FC/ST FC/ST
Have the wing backs attacking and try to get them with as good dribbling as possible so that they can run with the ball effectively with direct passing into the centre. Have amc set to a free role. Strikers should have passing set to short with one of them holding up the ball. I won everything with Palace using this formation.

Scores a hatful of goals, sometimes leaks a lot too, but it works, trust me. Conference to European Champions.

In the Premier League, play a 4-1-3-2 formation with Mixed Passing and Pressing On when you're away. If your defenders have good Positioning and Anticipation also play an Offside Trap. In Division One play a 4-3-3 Formation with Direct Passing, and again Pressing On when Away. You should walk the first Divison whichever team you are, and have a decent go in the Premier - I'm currently 4th with the mighty Sheffield United and I'm only 3 seasons in!

I play
RB CB/SW CB LB (never 2 sweepers)
RM/AM CM DM LM/AM (the DM runs diagonally back to the centre circle and the CM diagonally forward to the centre of the 18yrd box)
SC SC (or FC)
This is based entirely on watching a mate win absolutley everything on it playing this formation with Juve. So far I am yet to win the premier with CPFC, but have won most other stuff. Came second once with Zamorano, Weah and Batistuta playing upfront. Yep, wages bankrupt me.

4132 is excellent, but only after i have made a few changes to it. I tried and tried to make a 442 formation that could take me to the top. I got into the premiership with my own 442, and tried to make it work, but my 4132 just beats it hands down.

I do this one on 00/01
GK
DL DC DR
MC DMC MC
AMC
SC SC SC
With the midfielders running outwards. Direct and Pressing. Seems to work very very well if you have a good keeper and reasonable defence, your strikers score loads.
However, a recent find:
GK
DL DC DC DR
MC MC MC
AMC
SC SC
With the AMC running up, and one of the strikers (left one on the screen) running to the middle. Direct and Pressing too. Seems to work pretty well, loads of assists for the AMC and left SC, loads of goals for other SC! Same runs as before for the midfielders.
I have used the following to great effect winning the Premiership and Champions League with Palace.
GK
DC DC
DMR DMC DML
MC MC
AMC
FC FC
I usually find most of the goals come from the AMC who is running forward.

whatever mate, were you using cheats or just playing champ manager 97/98 in the season 207/208 with Michael Owen and Kevin Phillips upfront or something
