What does having a league selected do, and what difference does it make having a league running in background make.

I am trying to speed up my PC running CM00/01 and need to know what I can sacrifice.

Thanks

I would never have a background league. All it does is show you results from other leagues. You cannot manage a team from there. I tend to only choose one country for my games, maximum two. It just makes it much quicker, and because i manage one team for decades i have no need to have other countries as all it is doing is making the game slower.

If you select a league in the background you can then move it to the foreground in the future if you decide you want to manage a team from that league.

One good thing about background leagues is that you'll get more players to choose from I believe. Having not played it for a while, its becoming hazy but I think having it is the difference between 3/4 players and 18/20 players per foreign club.

Personally I like to have the Conference and Scotland on background to ensure a wide selection of talent and maybe Italy or Spain as well, depending on how fast my computer is - as it really does slow it down if you have too many.

Don't be so sure on that one :) Say you are running English with Spanish in background, and want to manage Palace and Barcelona select yourself as Palace manager, then add another and find a team with a Spanish player in. Click on his nationality to go to their national team, then find a Barca player in the Spanish squad and go to their team, you can manage them. I think it runs on background still too.

To speed it up a little select a "big" league (Mainly these are England, Italy, Spain, France, and Germany) and a smaller one in the background. Or just stick to the one league, like i have to do :( but not for long :) :)
