View Full Version : Kitson On Loan
According to the Standard, he is our next loan target following the collapse of the Beattie deal.
Good player when fit, but not really the big target man we really need surely?

Did he not go to Birmingham last week ? If that fell through perhaps he is injured again. Good player, but like Warhurst don't see him on the pitch enough.

Found this on a West Ham site tonight - says Kitson has joined us on loan for a month. The other info in the article undermines it a little though. why loan when you that short of cover.
Dated 13/9
sorts Hammers striker Paul Kitson has joined first division Crystal Palace on a month's loan.
Kitson has joined former Hammer Neil Ruddock at Selhurst Park following the late collapse of his proposed move to Birmingham City last week.
Kitson has been out of sorts at West Ham recently, and made only fleeting appearances this term. He has seen his first team opportunities limited by the arrival of Davor Suker and Freddy Kanoute over the summer.
Kitson's final game for the Hammers before his move was at Upton Park last night, when the Hammers were beaten 2-1 by a Matt Le Tissier inspired Southampton.
The departure of the former Derby and Newcastle man leaves the Hammers extremely short of attacking cover. Both Davor Suker and Freddy Kanoute are struggling with injuries, which leaves only Trevor Sinclair as a fit striker - although he too is still not fully match fit after his recent groin injury.
It all points toward an imminent signing by the club; much touted target Lomana Lua Lua has been subject to a firm bid by Premiership rivals Newcastle this week, although rumour has suggested that the Hammers have been offered first refusal on the 19-year-old London born striker.
Rumours of a top class signing from abroard have also been rife over the past few days, although there has so far been no word from the club to confirm or deny this.

I don't think Kitson - or having another loan player is the answer.
There years ago he was a good player and I liked him in his Newcastle/Derby days - but he became too injury prone and lost his way.
I'm willing to be swayed though .. but long term I don't think he's the striker we should be looking for.

Why oh why have allowed ourselves to miss out on Lua Lua? We've been looking for a striker since the beginning of the season - why didn't we bid for him? People on this BBS have mentioned his name from the outset - Smith - why didn't you enquire? Now he's going to go and sit on a bench for a premiership team. A defintitely missed opportunity.

Why. . .. he's a similar type of player to those we already have, and no better either. . ..don't see the point.
P.S - if he scores 3 or 4 goals in his month here, I will of course eatr my words !

Kitson is exactly what we need - goal poacher who has experience to hold ball up and help Morrison with his game.

Kitson is a class player and should shine in Div 1. I hope he stays fit until we gt a permanent signing.

Following the collapse of his £1 million move to Birmingham he has signed for Palace on a months loan, with a option to buy at the end of the month. He will make his debut against Norwich on Saturday!

Don't think he's that class Wedge - why do you think the Clowns didn't sign him ? - and he only scored one easy goal (that we all know about ), whilst he was there
After my briliant prediction of heaps of goals against Burnley I am currently re-evaluating my striker spotting credentials.

The guy who cut my hair today is a Hammers fan, and he reckoned Kitson would be a great signing for us. He didn't understand why he hadn't figured more in Redknapp's plans. Of course, this is dependant on him staying fit.
I think if he does, he will be a Palace player after the months loan.

And it's not like he doesn't know how to score at Selhurst http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/frown.gif
