Really getting bored of all the bad beats polluting the Online Poker Thread.
Hope to get the above thread filled with more hand discussion and tactics.
On tilt (SOS), hit a one-outer, lose your bottom pair to a made runner runner flush?
Fire away in here, lads. :moo:

NH'S, start raising the PP's Gav ;)
Gav The Hamster
17-12-2007, 11:17 AM
I'm tempted to Sam but I prefer to see a cheap flop with low PPs and get out cheap if I miss which I usually do.
Would most likely have been re-raised pre flop with the AK against my 22 and would most likely have had to lay it down and missed the double up.
SamTheOldGoat
17-12-2007, 11:24 AM
Understand where your coming from Gav. I think playing 6 max though which you obviously do, more often than not your taking down the pot with a 4x raise with any PP, then theirs the continuation bet adn also the set mining. My brother told me the odds of 4x'ing it with every PP with regards to set mining and taking the pot down and it pays off positively.
NH's anyway chap, just got to love getting paid off by 10J. Good times :D

There are some loose players on there, you just hope they dont get lucky against you !!!
Emailed them for rakeback the other day, said I had to rake a minimum of £100 a month to qualify which I previously used to but obviously dont anymore. How many hands do you reckon that is roughly to qualify at stakes of say .25/.50 ?
And hopefully I will finally be able to play in the tourney on Thursday though the new dog comes first now !!

I'm sure your brothers right. I just dont dedicate enough time and bankroll to put myself in that situation anymore where in the long run I am likely to come out on top.
These days, I am pretty tight and play every now and then when bored and look to make profit on the night rather than over a period of time.

I've said it a zillion times, 74-nuts. Maybe you should have reraised him? Nothing wrong with his raise, just his all in call. Obviously wanted to gamble!
iamanuplander
17-12-2007, 07:14 PM
i was talking about his raise pre flop with 47suited i think it was shocking. but i can see what hes doing trying to get the hand dwn to one other person, then just play the man after the flop to see if hes weak or strong. But 47 pre flop betting 4X the BB??
SamTheOldGoat
17-12-2007, 07:49 PM
Nothing wrong with his raise PF. What don't you like about it? He's opening the pot, it's not like he's calling a $20 raise. He's in control of the play PF...... If you make it $70 to go you take it down 9/10.
PS, Running hot in APAT Cardiff live qualifier, it went all in on the flop. ;)

The most important thing that ive learnt over the last year is maintaining a bankroll. People used to tell me how important it was over and over again and ive only just truly learnt my lesson. Go back to the 25/50 tables and work your way back up.
Oh and above ^ pretty sick.

That's the sort of call you get in cash games. It's a ridiculous way to lose it but at that sort of level you're going to be up against semi pros with huge bankrolls that are happy to make that call and re load when needed...

Fold or raise pre-flop. Not keen on being out of position with AQo.
Not that I've ever done it but if I was playing over my head in regards to my bankroll size I'm not too keen on risking it all with TPTK when my oppponent has shown a lot of strength. You're crushed by AA, KK, QQ (not likely), 99, 55 and a bit of a coin flip with and combination of flush/straight draws or flush draws with an over card (KcX). As it goes it was only about 62/38 in your favour

Ant,
Not that it makes it better, but I've done what you've done a number of times before. Playing above my limits getting shafted and all your money goes. (From memory I think I've played $10/20 heads up when tilting !) Like someone else said, try and stick to within your limits. If you got shafted like that at .25/.50 then you've lost $50 buy in max. No big deal you can cope with that type of loss without a problem, reload and catch him out next time.
The guy probably had you on a Q, but he does have a few outs and like Kev said, was prepared to take a gamble with you with 2 cards left to come. No idea of the odds, technically I guess he doesn’t have enough outs to call but that’s poker as they say.
Ah, just seen Oz Da's 62/38 split. Its not really a bad beat, the only reason you're so pissed off (and rightly so) is the pot size.
Chin up, you'll win more of those than you lose but no consolation now !!

Cheers man! and thanks to the others that have given their advice. I put him on a flush draw or a hand that was definately behind mine so i went all in to try and get him off it but weren't to be.
Technically these limits were ok for me because i had £1000 in my account but just in terms of how much i lost there in one go when i shuddnt have been in that situation makes me get a little annoyed.
Im going to play the lower limits now but as you all may know once you have had a taste of those sorta limits its very hard to go back down to the 50/25 . But that's what i am gonna do.
Put £240 in my account 3 weeks ago got it up to a grand then i came fifth in the Sunday £40K getting an additional £2400 taking the total to £3400. But for some reason i sed to my mate before that tournament as a laugh i would give him 25% of the profits because its a shark infested tourney where top 40 get paid from 350 so i expected •••• all rele lol. So £500 went to my mate. But this is the best bit here.
My bro plays on will hill and noticed that i came fifth and told my whole family so i get all my bros and sisters after me for dosh :( but they were asking for a laugh if you get me. Then my mum comes along and goes on a guilt trip with me saying she needs money for xmas pressies and what not, and eventually demanded £1000 from me!! I could have refused but she has some good puppy dog eyes and i felt insanely charitable around this festive season.
So my account was down to £1900 then i had the biggest tilt you could ever imagine going crazy on $20/10 limits and getting slapped about. Was down to £1200 then i composed myself and started winning on the $5/2. But had an unlucky streak and now i am basically back where i started now on £700
What a bloomin ride. And before anyone points it out im an idiot for the 25% suggestion. And i realise i may be adopted with my mother doing what she did lol.
SamTheOldGoat
18-12-2007, 07:01 PM
Rollercoaster indeed! I think your more of 'idiot' in your words for playing 2/5 with only £1k!
All hte best. Ideally you should be playing 15c/25c now chap. Seriously! Good luck in your future plays! PS, I'm sure your Mother appreciates it, but let me suggest you DON'T let anyone see your WillHill account in the future!

Nah even if people do see my account they are getting none of it and rightly so!
There is no way im playing 15c/25c i will instead be playing 25p/50p GBP. I think i can deal with those limits and anyway i will be concentrating on playing tournaments and satelliting into really big tournies from now on as i am a much better tournament player.

This is a brag so it belongs in here......this is the winning hand from the $5K Guarenteed tourney which i won rather luckily with the situation above. How ironic this happened to me when i was complaining earlier with how much money i lost and how unlucky i have been getting. This win of $1470 has nearly broke me even from my tilting earlier this week :)

top work !!
The others on here talk about bankroll management which if you can follow is ideal and prevents you from going broke. I, like you, cant really do this.
$2/5 blinds is quite steep with your bankroll but if you think you can make it profitable then go for it. You must be a decent player to have finished 5th and increased your bankroll (before the tilting!!). Just be wary of what happens when it all goes wrong !
Edit - just seen you won the $5k as well. going great guns !! If you can learn not to tilt (almost impossible I know!) then you look like you can make a decent profit from playing.

I pretty much 95% play cash only and do fine from it, play quite a bit live nowadays and make a healthy amount of cash, no big tourny scores other than 1.7k playing 100rebuys the other day. Cash is my game.
As Gav said, tilting aint' easy, I've had my fair share of playing 5/10 etc after a bad session, the FOX article is just GREAT way to play poker imo and when I do as the article suggests my roll just keeps growing, happy days :)

Gav nice to know someone else is human around here :o and cheers for the compliments to my tourney finishes. I'm 18 and the sight of over a grand in my account made me play irratically to say the least and i lost a lot of money on the 6 person cash games and even when i lower my limits on the 6 person cash i still generally lose, so i now know i am not to play that again until i am fully in the know about how to play them, or STOG is looking for a keen protoge to take under his wing :p
I am generally OK on the 10 person cash games because i play them like tournaments and it often works out ok for me, so in terms of cash i will be playing those.
The question is what limits to play for the 10 person cash games. I feel out of my depth playing the $5/$2 limits to be honest because the sight of sitting down with $500 makes me edgy, however crudely i feel comfortable in the £2/£1 limits for that so i will play those from now on and tell you all how i get on of course.
It does make me cringe at how much money i have tilted away in the past but am weirdly happy for it because i have learnt the hard way the do's and dont's of online poker, so all i need to do now is make sure my profits outweigh my losses lol even though that sounds pain stakingly obvious ha
btw Gav what games do you play? At what limits and generally a tourney or cash player? Sorry i am a nosey bstrd

No probs. I dont play as much as I used to as I spend more time betting than pokering and the missus takes up my time as well.
But i used to play an awful lot mainly .50/1, sometimes 1/2 and when tilting higher than that !!
These days I just sit down on a table when bored. Play either .25/.50 or .50/1 depending on my mood, sit down with 1/2 the buy in and see how I get on. Poker is a tough nut to crack, so many nutters at the lower levels you are always going to suffer brutal beats and you rarely inflict them yourself coz you're not as loose as they are !!
I only play 6 man, I like quicker action. 10 man bores me to death and you have a smaller range of starting hands. Same reason I dont play tourneys, boredom !
where as I used to look at poker to make a bit of dosh, I'm quite happy to pass the time and win here and there. So long as I dont lose much I dont mind.
As we are in the brag section and talking about big limits, this is what happened last time I stepped up the blinds after tilting my arse off. Needless to say I jumped back off the table shortly after !

if only, the only reason I was playing those blinds was due to a certain 4 letter word which we all know and love !!

Played the $50 Xmas Poker tournament down at the cricket club last night with the usual crowd. Got to four left, top 3 cash, all on pretty much even stacks. Folded to me on the button and look at TT, re-raise 3*BB to look like a blind steal. SB folds. BB thinks, I've got a tell on him, rubs his chin when he's uncomfortable which he does (bluffing), he goes all-in and I insteadly call. He relunctantly turns over JT. Nice. anyway as usual this season the inevitable J hits the turn and I'm left with a couple of BB's.
The season is about 8 weeks old and I'm on a stupid run. Been playing over three years with the same group and feel I got tells on all if not most of the players.
Knock outs include.
AA vs K6o (all in pre-flop) K flop K river (K6o monster chip leader who was really gambling, obviously)
AA vs ATs (all in pre-flop) T flop T river
Trip 3's on a 3K93 board lost when a bloke with top pair hit his K on the river.
Heads-up KQs vs 95 all in pre-flop (not too nasty but annoying as I would have had a 80-20 lead with $200 to the winner).

I'm on the button with QQ. On the hijack sits a rather laggy player who seems to raise and reraise any two cards. He's been betting into me for ages but I'm waiting for a good hand to take his stack. He raises pre-flop so I shove my queens on him. He calls with TT. All looks peachy until a T hits on the turn :grrr: :veryangry

Well here's my first brag.
Nothing too exciting but a bit unique for me. Cash tables were a bit dry tonight so I thought I'd kill some time before the Palace game with a 90-man Sit 'n' Go Knockout Tournament that my friend was entered in (with the sole intention of hoping to knock him out) ;)
Anyway ended up winning it (standard of play not the best obviously)and knocking out about 10 players along the way (unfortunately not my friend who was out early...)
Here's the last hand, my opponent wasn't pleased (what's he doing on the flop, all-in or fold surely?), hahaha. I had heaps of outs on the river. :D

does it constitute a bad beat when i have pocket 9's
decent pre-flop raise which is called by two players
flop is 9 2 6
one guy min raises, possibly with flush draw as two of them are clubs i call obviously, other guy folds
turn - Q
guy checks, i raise a decent amount, he takes ages but then calls
river 2
full house, i re-raise his raise, he calls.
i show full house, he shows quad twos. rivered. with one out card.

A one outer is definitely a bad beat.
Are you saying he just called with quads, did you put him all-in?

OK this is very embarrassing as I played it like a total muppet but I'll post it anyway as it's the worst bad beat I've ever inflicted.
Over Xmas I was up against a maniac donk who I have history with (he will not fold anything preflop and shoves with air a lot), plus I wasn't really sober enough to be playing. I almost fell off my chair when we split.

I'd had a good day at 1/2 so fancied a gamble with one buy in at that level. Was only gamblling with profits from the day but still its not nice to see!
I rarely loose and go the next level to recoup losses but sometimes when I do this I think its just as bad.

Checking the turn is not a mistake. If he's prepared to put $17 on a gutshot on the flop, he's going to call the turn anyway. Why call the reraise with JA in the first place?

No, he's prepared to call on the turn with the exact same draw he has on the flop, so he's probably going to call. You're only chance to get away is the reraise on the river.

I was on tilt so the call was loose but Kalleknekt is a hyperaggressive player and I felt he was trying it on, he was raising crazy amounts regularly.

I have actually played a few very nitty hands of 100NL and so far so good! The HHs aren't hugely exciting but here are some of the big ones:-
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1907134 - reraise AJ preflop and get it all in on A high flop vs KQ
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1907137 - weak pair of aces vs a total maniac. I decided to check/call when he reraised as I could see him bluffing off his stack - not a move I normally make with A6
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1907141 - AK vs K9
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1907144 - Always nice to flop a boat in position
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1907150 - Get it in on the flop with two overcards + flush draw - sadly up against a set but I suck out (yay!)
Oops I think I broke pokerhand.org but you get the gist :)

I presume you're talking about your call to his all in raise? You are basically putting in the vast majority of your chips with 9 high. Fair enough making the call after the flop but to do so pre flop IMO is madness.

In normal poker yes but have a look at the blinds and chip count. The all in call is just over 1BB.
I think I'd rather play bingo than this form of poker.

the order in which the cards fell got me going it was giving me such a tease for that two outer to hit.
This was a double your money six seater game, by this time in the ridiculously high blinds the game would normally have finished as there are at most around 3 players left at this time in a typical situtaion. I agree with you that it is bingo poker by this stage but if you equip yourself with a hefty chip stack before these blinds kick in, you should do enough to see yourself comfortably into the top 3.
Before my recent little slump in the sit and go's, these double your monies have been very profitable to me and are the reason why my ROI is +10% (was +16% b4 the slump).

If that's the most disgusting thing you've ever seen you're doing well.
Will be interesting to see your reaction when you flop a full boat and some clown hits running cards on the turn and river to create quads.

technically i dont play for a living as i run my own company, however I do make a decent amount of money from poker through live and on-line tournys and cash. The tourny was at gutshot last Thursday, they had the £500 main event on saturday which was probably why big slick was half empty.
My sit n go stats are disabled through sharkscope because i dont want my opponents to pick up any info before they play me- can he play/can't he etc...
Going to vegas next month for a couple of weeks to play in the Venetian Festival and will be returning in June for the Main event and general chaos that goes with it, not forgetting the fantastic cash games at the rio :D

Monte Carlo sucked - got down to 3 short handed tables (704 runners) got it in with the nuts and got done by runner runner for the monster chip lead, the donkey (Mark Karam) who called as a 92% dog went on to cash for 1.4 million euros - 2nd. I think you will find the Monte Carlo beat was one of the worst beats ever if you look at the stage of the tourny and what we were playing for.
I play cash in the £250 game at the Vic in the £5/£5 optional £10 stradle - I also play at Gutshot mostly - the £250 N/L game on a saturday came be very lively. The Omaha game on a wednesday night is also good fun but very swingy.

Playing in a tournament, blinds are 30/60, get QA, raise to 240, one caller, he flat calls. Flop comes Q27 rainbow. Flop doesn't get much better than that, fire 560 into a 600 pot and get reraised all in. Call, and he shows 2K. He hadn't even played a hand before that and was relatively the same number of chips as I had. Surely wasn't expecting me to fold?

Even worse was later on, was sat to the left of the two chip leaders, both have 74K. One raises to 15,000, the other calls, flop comes 8 10 3, first player bets out 19,500 into 30K pot, the other calls all in which is immediately called. The guy who goes all in shows A8 which is crushed by QQ. No reason to get involved. Wonder what he thought he was up against pre-flop?

Not really playing much on stars, will try and play the sunday comps most weeks and the 100 & 50 rebuy occasionally. will play sit n go's sometimes if bored. I prefer to play live cash and the bigger comps £200+
The cash games are sooooooo good on the prima network that i mainly play there when I have the time
What is your brothers name on stars?
SamTheOldGoat
11-01-2008, 10:57 AM
He hasn't played on Stars for a long time now, purely because there are many easier sites to beat comprehensively! I think he's purely playing PP and Big Slick now. He plays as /-/4rris, but is about 15-20k extra up on OPR from deals. :)

Down to final table of a tourney and sitting in about 5th with 15k
1st to act and get Kh Ks, decide to just call and see if anyone else raises etc, no one does and it just me and the Big Blind.
Flop is 10c 8c 2c and the big blind (who is short stack ~ 5k) goes all in. What would you do?

Call immediately - his range for shoving there is huge, if you are behind you have outs + you have him covered by a 3/1 chip lead - was it a full 9 handed final table? Imo u should never limp with there with KK, with it being the final table the blinds should be at a size where they are big enough to take down along with the antes.
What were the blinds / antes / average stack?
What did the other guy have?

I did call, he had the 9c and hit his flush on the river.
I did regret not raising preflop obviously but that is how I tend to play hands like that so only have myself to blame. There were 8 left of the table at the time and the blinds were 300/600 with a 50 Ante I think.
I was about average stack
palacedeano
11-01-2008, 12:08 PM
i thought when i answered before that there were only 2 clubs on board but u still made the right decision to call - he is 1.81 to complete his flush so you are still favorite in the hand, however if u raise from utg with your kings you pick up the blinds and antes and preserve your stack

As above, your M is fine 8 handed, I assume this was online so you are getting in a good # of hands per round!
SamTheOldGoat
11-01-2008, 12:38 PM
You still have 10k with 300/600 8 handed, always make the call although a raise PF would have been preferable obv. :)
StuNick
11-01-2008, 12:39 PM
my M?
Do you mean my move? and yes it was online
palacedeano
11-01-2008, 01:07 PM
Your "M" as in your stack size in relation to the blinds, with a stack size of 15k with the blinds at 600, your "M" is roughly 25 and very playable -only need to start panicking at an "M" of below 8.
David Slansky produced the "M" theory, it is explained in detail in his book Tournament Poker for Advanced Players

SamTheOldGoat

Done nothing wrong imo, you haven't called off your whole stack, his shove stinks of a draw, would you have shoved if you had flopped the flush, fish have to get lucky ;)..... :)

Fecking hell. 1000 runner tourney, am 47th out of 86 left, pays at 80, have 8.5K in chips, blinds 500/1000 and am utg.
Get KA, raise to 2000, everyone folds apart from SB who has 49K in chips. Flop comes 10 9 A rainbow. He checks, I bet out 3000 and he flat calls, turn 6 (all four cards of different suits), he goes all in, I call, he turns over 9 Q, river Q.
Nice way to bubble. Last hand before second break...

Proof that table talk works. Announced (in chat) that I was "on tilt" after losing two big pots to river made straights. Not sure he makes this call otherwise as he was quite a tight player.

Thought I'd try some PLO when I noticed a friend of mine on the table. Doubled my stack early but was unfortunately short stacked at this stage having just lost a big pot (no time to chip up)
Initial thoughts were a royal... :moo:

Don't ya hate not having time to chip up when a big hand hits? :clown:
Here's my favourite hand of the night. BB was a squeezer thus my call with a bunch of limpers as I knew he would put the squeeze on, plan was to re-raise but UTG (appears tight but passive) came along for the ride as well, so now I'm hoping for a nice flop.

What sort of bankroll do you have to play 5/10 Ant?
iamanuplander
22-01-2008, 08:23 PM
been in a gambling mood recently and have only $3500 in my account so these blinds are dangerous to say the least to play but i normally always buy in low compared to max. I do this becos on an active 5/10 table if u buy in for $300 you can sit for a while pick ure spot when u think ure good ure likely to get a loose call becos compared to what some of these guys have won and lost at the table $300 is a relative pittance. In the situation above i was a 50/50 on the flop and had to move all in. Pre flop above is probably where i went wrong not raising enough, but im not too agitated becos in my eyes i think i was good to go all in on the flop there.
Started with $500 in dec last year so im pretty happy with the display accumulating $5500 in two months (taken $2000 out). Been playing cash recently but i think tournies is where i play best and i also have a decent record for SNG's but recently i have been a bit up and down. Only an amateur tho need to learn a whole lot to say im good at this lark.
And what about ureself chester?

just a bit unlucky. he isnt going to fold with OESD when your stack is so small in comparison to his.

to be honest with you i shouldn't play cash again until i have read up on it thoroughly. And im starting to think i need to start appreciating the value of money tossing hundreds of dollars into pots with no real fear about it. And i assure u im not rich enough to act like that im a student trying to pay my way thru uni, barely legal to play the game lol.
I think its sit and gos for me in the forseeable future and the odd tourney. Was making about £60-£80 every day in the double your monies (on will hill) rather steadily. I suppose it weren't exciting enough and i needed the thrill of cash lol. Im banning myself from it now until i read a lot of renowned books on cash games. Any in particular that are a must read for med-high stakes cash games?

You don't need to give up cash, you can just move down the limits! You've got enough in just one £2/£5 stack there for 40 buyins at 25NL or 20 buyins at 50NL (25c/50c). If you have 3500 in your account you actually have 35 buyins to play 100NL where it's possible to make some reasonable money. It's far less exciting than £2/£5 but it's sustainable and you can build a bankroll and beat the limit whilst improving your game and move up when you're ready.
In terms of must-reads, I really think that anyone who wants to play online cash NL seriously is severely hampering their development if they don't join Cardrunners. Online games play differently to live games and the Cardrunners teaching is directly targeted at online 6-max cash with low limit videos on Mondays, mid-stakes on Wednesdays and high stakes on Fridays as well as online tourney stuff on Tues/Thursdays. The instructors are some of the best players in the world, and the forum is brilliant - for $25 a month it's a great investment and will pay for itself very quickly. If I hadn't joined I can't imagine that I would still be playing poker.

You can read all the books you want but if you've got tilt problems you're screwed. I'd concentrate more on sorting that out.

I highly recommend 'The Poker Mindset' - I found it very helpful for dealing with tilt issues during my last downswing.

I find changing down limits is also good for relieving tilt - takes away the pressure somewhat

i have never completely read a poker book and feel im a decent player just through experience of playing online. I rarely do tilt OZ, but when i do i can do serious damage to my bankroll. You cant afford to tilt at the limits i have been playing at. But i have started to control it now because when i feel like im getting stressed and not enjoying it anymore i just logout, its the best thing for it rele. I think i will read books on cash because there are snidy tricks you can do to collect the pot uncontested in spots that im not a master of doing yet. Would really like a book that breaks the cash game down for me.
Problem is se1eagle its very hard to go down limits once u have played at these stakes, i dunno how to describe it it just feels a little unworthwhile playing 0.25/0.50 or 0.50/1. So what i am going to do is make sure im fully composed next time i play cash. i think that is the antidote for it. In the meanwhile im going to play the £20-£30 double your monies they have on William hill to build up my bankroll, i think they're ingenius and they are surprisingly fishy. But to make it easier on eachother guys please don't enter one where you see my username, i really only want to play fishes lol.
And by the way SE1Eagle cheers for the recommendation for the cardrunners site, im definately looking into it :p

It may not feel worthwhile playing at these limits but that is what you bankroll is suited too. Once you start beating these regularly and build up a bigger bankroll then you can move up.
By saying that you cant afford to tilt at the limits you are playing at clearly shows that you cant and should not be playing them.
I recommend reading the bankroll management article again

I do understand this - however you have to be realistic. You have to decide if you actually want to make sustainable money playing poker, or if you are just gambling for fun. You have a bankroll of $3500 - to play $2/$4 you should have at least $12000 in your roll, and the skill level to match - for $5/$10 or £2/£5 you should have more than double that.
You're playing outside of your roll and even more importantly outside your comfort level (which really doesn't help with tilt issues). If you keep playing these stakes with your roll, eventually you WILL lose all your money. $3500 isn't even 10 full buyins for $2/$4 and a 10 BI downswing is really not uncommon.
Alternatively if you can make 5BB/100 playing $0.50/$1 you can play 25K hands in a month, gain experience, make $2500 and build your bankroll up to $6000 when you could take a shot at $1/$2. There are players at $1/$2 who have regular $10K months which is an obscene £5000 per month after tax (like a 90K salary).

Also you can win more at a lower level, found myself winning 80% of the time, and about $100 each session at 25/50, but struggled to do the same on 50/100, not because I couldn't handle the step up, but possibly because at the lower levels, people don't understand a lot of the concepts of poker and would make more mistakes. It really was/is a cash cow.

Saul how comes you only play micro limits now ?
Saw you on betfair the other night playing 0.05/0.10 blinds. Taken a hit to your bankroll ?

You know what guys you have made me see the error of my ways.
im going to start playing the £0.10/£0.20 cash games and stick to the £20-£30 buy in sit and gos and tournaments of that sort of buy in as well.
I have been disillusioned with getting large amounts of money in quick with poker and i now know its all about patience so i shouldn't do that. I suppose the cash bug of playing at dangerous limits caught me. And now im going to appreciate the steady flow of income i will hopefully generate at the lower limits.
And to keep the buzz going i will be satelliting into the big tournaments so it doesn't have to be too dull. Another 5th place in the Sunday £40K would be nice!
Im pleased i joined in on these threads now because if i weren't slapped out of my disillusionment by ure good advice i would have probs gone broke. Cheers :p

No, got bored with betfair and mostly am on pokerstars now, was just messing around to see what the quality of play was like. How are you doing?

although i will never play those limits again. Had AA vs K7, raised to 5 x BB pre-flop, flop comes 746, went to 8 x BB flop, and 16 x BB when 10 hit the turn, so when a 7 hit the river, thought I was good for two pair, didn't think I'd keep being called with a pair of 7s to the river. Joker Poker.

to be honest, I'm not really playing much anymore. I dont have the patience any more to sit and wait for a hand only to get sucked out on !
I play every now and then when I'm really bored but the 'poker bug' has gone. It took about 5 years to get rid of it though !!

Shameless brag - 2008 so far. I want to improve my hand reading so started playing a bit of headsup 50NL cash on UB - the rake is obscene but it's putting me in a lot more marginal situations where I really have to think rather than play autopilot poker. It's great cos you only have to beat one person, there seem to be less people who know what they're meant to be doing and if you avoid the regs I can see it being more profitable than 6-max although more swingy. It's also very quick - I seem to be playing about 500 hands an hour on one table.

Think I have had the most mong call ever. Have JJ, last time I went all in I showed JJ I got called by AK and held up. Blinds were 1/2K, three limpers, 7K in the pot, raise all in to 94K, one caller (the same one who called with the AK), turns over J10, two 10s on the flop halve my stack.

Finished 5th out of 638. Had 105K in chips and pushed all-in in late position in an unraised pot. Big stack 300K calls (1/3rd of stack), and his 44 made trips against my A9. Wrong move at the wrong time...

AK is officially wank. Out on about 4th hand of 3K tourney. AK mid to late pos. blinds 10/20, raise to 80 3 callers, flop comes A8J two clubs, both check before me, bet 240 into 360 pot, get reraised to 480, re raise all in, both call the all in. Original raiser turns over 83, other guy A7, 8 on the river gives 83 trips.

Not my day. 19th out of 21st in Omaha tourney I have 2K, blinds 150/300, get dealt 10 10 A Q (3 hearts), two limpers, push to 1K to go, get pushed all in by one of the other stacks, call his bet and he turns over 2 3 7 J, which is good enough when 3 and 7 pair the board for him.
