Favorite Part of Selhurst before redevelopment

I used to love standing in the Arthur Waite Enclosure, because the atmosphere was always brilliant, you stayed dry, and also my favorite part was the park type railings at the front. The only bummer was that you would get the sun in your eyes. Also have fond memories standing at the back of the Holmesdale in E2

E2 Holmsdale by a mile. Just to the right of the goal by the second 'walkway cum wide step'. Ahhhhhhhh such happy memories.

I used to love standing in the Whitehorse,behind the white wall (halfway up the terrace) directly in the middle of it,so i was behind the goal.It was the away supporters section in the 70's,so god knows what posessed me to frequent it.There were many nasty punch ups there,a Reading fan with a hook for a hand sticks in my mind,and a Pompey fan who looked like any old grandad,but who "took" the whole end,and clobbered about 15 policemen, single handed.King nutter...

Is it just me but isn't the Holmesdale atmosphere much better now than when it was terraced?

You've GOT to be joking LP!
It used to be the only place to be when it was packed!
We used to regularly charge down the front at half/full-time, scaring the kiddies while we hurled abuse at an official/player/manager/programme seller.
The place was 'monster', midweek, p*ssing down with rain - for an open terrace the noise could be huge.
Now what have we got? An over-priced giant dentist's waiting room that doubles as a creche! I miss it terribly. I've got a huge framed photo of a full Holmesdale on my living room wall, and it makes me sigh with sadness that it no longer exists.
Second in line must be the 'new' stand enclosure. How many others remember it being referred to as that!
The cement was still wet when I started standing there. Down the front, banging the boards in time to 'Glad All Over', hurling peanut shells at copper and ball boys, and the 'Palace Dollies' if they dared come close enough! Ah, jumpers on the ground, small boys, oranges at half-time, isn't it?

I've always sat 3 rows behind the old wall in the Arthur Wait, so the best time was when the enclosure was there just in front of me on the halfway line full of singers. Always used to sing "..falling in love, falling in love, falling in love with you"

The singing from the Holmesdale at times seemed to just disappear up into the air, and I always wished it had been covered at some time during the 70s. Now that would've been loud.

O nly moved to the Holmesdale E2 after they seated the enclosure. I agree with Chocky, if it had a roof, the noise would of been awesome.
Meomories of Holmesdale? Get soaked away to Wimbledon on Good Friday, plus we got stuffed four nil. Also there used to be a dead gorgeous bird who used to work in the refresment hut.
There was never a finer site than a packed Holmesdale

Stellavista I was really talking about from 1991 onwards, anything before that is before my time I'm afraid. Take the 93-4 championship year, to be honest most games that year were played in front of a silent crowd, even the Watford game despite all the colour was poor in terms of vocal support. Perhaps the fact that it was an open terrace didn't help. But the atmosphere in the lower tier v Derby, Wednesday, Leicester, Man Utd etc was superb last season. And that was during a relagation season. I just wish the whole of the ground could do as well.
