Ok, help me out here. After reading this thread I thought I'd check this Audiogalaxy place out. I opened an account, downloaded the "satellite" (?) and then transfered a couple of files. The only trouble is, where have they gone? Where do they transfer to? I have Music Match jukebox and Windows Media Player, so should they be in there coz I can't see them!
Please help me guys, I know it's probably a simple mistake I'm making, but these things really confuse me when there's no instructions.

It's the weekend and that means on Saturday morning when Lindsay goes out I can treat the kids to some of daddy's music (we have an understanding about this - they whinge and I don't listen).

Saturday is the one time of the week when I can play it loud (and not have to suffer the Dido CD I bought her for Christmas).

Tomorrow I think I will have...

Goin' Steady and Chinese Rocks- Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers
Something by the Rezillos... perhaps their version of Glad All Over or Flying Saucer Attack
X Ray Spex - Oh Bondage Up Yours (the kids like that one and run round and round the house madly when I put it on)
Away From the Numbers - The Jam
Lookin' For A Kiss - New York Dolls
Smash It Up - The Damned
Don't Think Twice It's Alright - Bob Dylan
Something from Relics by Floyd
Jah War - The Ruts
Warhead - UK Subs
Anything by the Small Faces, maybe Tin Soldier, Get Yourself Together, Afterglow
A Patti Smith tape my mate's just done me
and some Blues and soul stuff probably old faves like Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf and various things off my Kent Northern Soul albums

I often try to find something I haven't played for years and see if I still like it

I couldn't give a toss about MP3 or CD, this is all on vinyl ;)

"Take the Long Road and Walk It" by The Music - came out as single early last year. Bloody brilliant groove - reminiscent of what the Stone Roses nearly were!

Their follow up, "You Might As Well Try To F*ck Me" was a four track EP not quite as good as their first release, but the highlight track was "Karma" (track 2).

If it's available on Audiogalaxy, I recommend TTLRAWI. :p

No offence, brighton_eagle, but Nina Simone is quite simply my most disliked female singer of all time. One of the very few that actually makes me get up and turn off the radio.

I quite like Nina Simone - she has a great voice and she can sing the blues like few else.

On a completely different tack, I have today bought Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's album, having read numerous good reviews. I'll post my impressions of it tomorrow.

As promised, my impressions of BRMC: It's good. Could have been lifted straight from the early '90s Madchester scene, with a hint of late '60s psychedelia. Mix that with the dead-pan vocals of the Beta Band and the guitar-driven groove of Dandy Warhols, and we're getting close. I'm told they sound like The Jesus and Mary Chain, but as I don't have any of theirs, I wouldn't know. These guys are certainly more 3-dimensional than the in-your-face The Strokes, but with the same sort of attitude. A worthy purchase. :p

(Sorry Dave, I realise this thread was aimed at singles rather than albums, but it's the only music thread around at the mo.)

With broadband now installed, I've been downloading tracks like a mad thing from audiogalaxy...

Currently on the play list:

Toasted Heretic (Irish band from early 90's): Black contact lenses, Galway Bay, LSD isn't what it used to be, Here comes the new year.
Underworld: m.e. (thought it was Numan cover, but its not - quite good chillin' track though sounds like the Beloved)
An acoustic live version of Vienna (dead cheesy)
Some stuff by Duffo ( :hmph: )
And about 15 different versions of Leonrad Cohen's "Hallejuah" (as per other thread)

The Hives - Hate to say I told you so
Nas - Got yourself a gun

Like New Order, ACR caused controversy with their name, which refers to the 'certain ratio of Jewish blood' necessary to be deemed Jewish and therefore eligible for the gas chambers.

Most of the good ones have gone but I picked up The Charlatans (5 songs taken from last 2 albums, 2 live) if you like'em and "The Boutique" (Big Beat-House) if you like that kind of thing.

So right now I'm listening to...er...5."It's about time" - The Charlatans.

Yet another alt-country band. Not as odd as Lambchop, more your Willard Grant territory but with a sweeter, though still sad-eyed, voice

One line I just found on a fan site is a bit worrying for BBSers - There's nobody here gonna sit around and listen to your opinions // If this is what you want then get used to being alone - but it does give the general tone of melancholy that miserbale bastards everywhere can enjoy.

They've done stuff with Johnny Cash which can be no bad thing and their version of Leavin' On Your Mind I find quite staggering.

Their best album, IMHO. Beats the commercialism of Ten and Vs, whilst retaining their grungy appeal. Contains the perfect mix of aggression, humour, individuality and some damn fine tunes. "Better Man" is by far their best song ever (although "Black" comes a very close second).

They went downhill from there.

I'm currently listening to Electric Soft Parade, which is actually another over-hyped group of Teenage Fanclub wannabies. "Nice" tunes, but nothing extraordinary.

A very impressive collection indeed....

however..

My uncle has a CD collection that I doubt can be rivalled. He doesn't go to the pub much, and lives at home with my gran, and therefor seems to have more money than sense.

His CD collection is made up of at least 2000 cd's...which he began collecting when he bought his first stereo system in 1992. The collection takes up 1 and a half wardrobes of space.

The funniest thing about the collection is that there's no range of music. Almost every CD is dance music of the commercial variety. He's bought every dance CD that's been available since his stereo was bought. The worst thing about it is that he buys 3 dance CD's, and at least 10 tracks are the same.

I will try and get some pictures of it.

Oh, and he's got a record collection that includes every one of the beatles records and a special edition Elvis Presley collection.

Unfortunately, even turning the volume up loud when listening to the album does not recreate the live feel and the album still disappoints.

Oasis - anything

The tracks from their new album are now available on Audiogalaxy. I've downloaded them and they are pretty good. They're certainly an improvement on the last two albums, but rather than harking back to Definitely Maybe or What's the Story, they remind me more of Oasis' better b-sides (which is a compliment, by the way).

Back on form. :p

Last Thursdays "Rat in the Hat" show had a certain Jamaican feel to it...
Sir Coxsone Sound - Something or other Israel dub (very topical I thought).
Skatalites / Don Drummond - Man in the streets & Confucious.
Sanchez - Friend.
Bob Marley - Exodus.

...but we went on to play Bo Diddley, Fela Kuti, Roger Sanchez featuring that sweaty Italian doris from Texas and a load of other stuff.

Don't think anyone in Debrecen was listening as usual.

Mostly classical stuff just to keep me relaxed since I have returned.

Today different twist though.

Started with the man Marvin Gaye, Abraham may be the finest song in existence.

Then repeat playings of Remember Me by Blueboy,

US3 great great album.

Now I am quite enjoying some Natalia Imbruglia.

Bit of mix and match.

I've said it before, and I don't know if they're out in the UK, but Zero 7 is some seriously smooth sounds - reviewed as the babymaker of the year. Play it and pull.

So to speak.

Cool band. Seen them live a few times in the last year. At one point I counted 14 of them on stage, and I wasn't drunk enough to see double.

Nope you can guess I am not into my music as much as my films. Just greatest hits again. I have a very general broad based music collection with a bias to soul type stuff.

Really enjoy classical stuff at the moment, gives me a great karma.

Most of the bands on here Ive never heard of.
