Your all time favourite palace player

Who is your all time favourite? Mine has to be the great Cliff Holton who joined us in 62/63 when we were in the **** at the bottom of the old division 3, he was an old-fashioned centre forward who had played for Arsenal, sadly he passed away four years ago.

My all-time favourite was our very own Stevie Kember, but I also have a soft spot for Nige - Englands No. 1 keeper.

Nigel Martyn Ð he has been the best keeper in the country for more than a decade. It's a disgrace that Seaman has been and still is preferred for England. Had Martyn played for Arsenal he would have 80 caps by now. There's no way Nigel would have been beaten on his near post so easily as Seaman was (twice) by Holland in that WC qualifier in 1994.

Vince Hilaire Ð a super talent who should have achieved so much more with his career. The prince of flair

Kevin Mabbutt Ð the early 1980s equivalent of the US cavalry, always riding to the rescue at the vital moment

Dave 'the Mod' Madden Ð classy, tough, spiteful where necessary (or indeed unnecessary) and the taker of great penalties. He made all the difference to the promotion run in of 1989 and in ten minutes at the end of the Cup Final replay managed to show what might have been had he played from the start instead of Supa Al. He completely embarrassed Bryan Robson with one moment of pure skill. Such a shame that, for whatever reason, he didn't become a big star for us.

Also Phil Barber Ð particularly in the later years he was often a target for some sections of the crowd, but he was a loyal servant to the club, a star of our rise from the despair of the dark ages to FA Cup glory and the great years in the old first division. He scored some great goals too. The archetypal unsung hero.

Standing in the Arthur Wait in the late eighties singing Ian Wright, Ian Wright, Ian Wright, ooh aah. He was the best, gave his all, pre-season friendlies, the lot.

In recent history, Palace have also had a lot of unsung heroes who have made a real impact for one or two seasons - Paul Stewart, Iain Dowie, Kenny Brown etc. Loved them all.

Definite soft spot for Leif Anderson (we used to say we'd be better off with Pamela Anderson) cracking own goal vs. Charlton in the play-offs, definitely gave us our best laughs at Selhurst.
