In my previous thread on Eventful away trips I guess I was hoping that I'd get a few 'bizarre arrests' stories, courtesy of the West Midlands Constabulary. What I did get was people with 'dicks out' stories (ever tried it in Grimsby in December?)

So does anybody have any tales of bizarre arrests? I'll begin by shopping somebody else...I swear I remember somebody being arrested merely for singing the words to 'Flying High'...was that you?

Late 80's/Eearly 90's and WBA away. I met some lads at New Street. We made our way to Smethwick Station then to a nearby pub.

We only had a couple of beers, (honest), then got cabs to the ground. As my mate got out of the taxi, he tripped on the pavement and bumped, rather unluckily, into a passing West Mids policeman.

The Old bill smelled alcohol, two of them grabbed him like he was an armed robber. Straight in the van.

Back to court on the Monday, £100 fine - banned from all football grounds for 6 months.

Now thats unlucky!

Sheffield Weds away 94-95, as we were entering the ground Little Al commented that this coppers chin strap was too short, the old bill then arrested us. They kept us in the nick until after the game and escorted us out of Sheffield (top gangsters eh). To make matters worse we had to go back up there and go to court which we were fined £250 and bound over for 2 & half years to keep the peace(which Al broke about a month later).
