Does anyone have any idea why we ALWAYS seem to sell our players (good or bad) for such small amounts of money? If Woozley does indeed leave the club for 50K, that will be a joke. He is a young and non-too-shabby player with plenty of first team experience in the 1st Division. He shouldn't be sold at all, but if we did have to part with him you would at least think we could get a couple of hundred thousand instead of pittance! McKenzie has gone now. You can bet that we got only a fraction of what he is worth. Despite his many flaws he is still a useful squad player in this division, he is young and does seem to give his all for the cause. Such attributes would usually cost a team £500,000 - I have heard we might get a tenth of that.
Fair enough, sometimes we get rid of players on the cheap because no one else really wants them/they are on high wages, but at other times we just don't seem to be able to play the transfer game very effectively.
Along the same lines we ALWAYS seem to buy players for much more than they are worth. The clubs we deal with must see us coming. Remember Svensson? He may have come good for us, but we really should have picked him up at half the price given his record at other clubs, but nooooo. Valerian Ismael? £2.75 million? Only at the Palace. The list could go on and on and on and on... It's quite sad actually.
Neil/Alan - I don't suppose you could do a little list could you? I'm sure it's depressing reading.
