Both have joined Southend today "for trials".
I hope this terminology is just another description of a loan, because we can't afford to lose these two youngsters. Kabba was on fire in the pre-season's and Dsane did very in China and has been a consistant performer at Club XI & reserve level.

Why haven't they been given a chance in the first team? http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/frown.gif

Exactly Glazier. If they haven't broken through during the problems of the last couple of years it is unlikely that they will ever be given a chance.
I wouldn't blame them if they wanted to join another club prepared to give them a 1st team chance.

Jordan said earlier in the season that he wanted to streamline the squad by off-loading surplus players - Woozley's already gone, now Dsane and Kabba - bad news for the Palace youth team. Why couldn't Jordan off-load the more expensive non-first teamers (eg, Smith, Fullarton, etc)

Where did Woozley go?

Kabba was given a run out at Crewe last year, but got injured in the first couple of minutes. He didn't make this clear to the bench straight away, presumably because he thought he could run it off and didn't want to give up his big chance.
He was taken off after 30 minutes and apparently Coppell was none too happy about him trying to cover up the extent of his injury which kept him out for a fair while.
Dsane is still only a youngster, but I feel they both might have had a chance this season if Coppell had still been here.

I have to say I am more than a little baffled at this Neil - hopefully it might just be to give them first team games - at least it should be.
Kabba played in the first team last year away at Crewe and made a nervous start - getting subbed after half an hour. This season he's done well at the start during pre-season, although his form has tailed off a bit in the reserves recently.
Dsane has impressed me ...
A striker - he has been playing in both midfield and as a left wing back for the reserves and has looked sharp and lively in both positions. I've been surprised that he hasn't been at least on the bench for the leaague cup games.
Certainly there are other players I can think of that should be ahead of them in the queue for the exit door (Richard Harris is the obvious one, but there are more).
Let's hope it is just to give them football.
I saw Dsane play a few weeks ago and he looked pretty good. Certinaly worth a run out in the first team....
Shame.

Some clarity from Southend, its not trials its loan deals ...
"Dsane has been signed until the end of the season, whilst Kabba has been taken on a 3 month loan. Both should feature on Saturday."

You also said the other week (correct me if I'm wrong!) that Harris was the best player on the pitch. Forgive me if I feel a little uneasy about your scouting trips Paul!
He was the best player on the pitch. Held the ball up well, confident, always looking to turn.
When he went off, the team seemed to lose it's direction.

I can understand them going out on loan - but Dsane for a year doesn't make any sense to me. Not when his confidence has been good and he's been performing in a variety of different roles for the reserves.
Sounds very much to me - what with Woozley's loan as well, that we're going back to the days of buying players in now and not giving youth a chance, which is always a mistake.

Not too sure COULD be a good move - this season we use players with experience, next season we get young players with league experience who have had their initial teething problems (everybody has them) elsewhere. As they're on loan we can get them back in emergency. Not saying it'll work in practice, but the theory seems okay.

Loaning makes sense - but is this more of a move to split up the Bratt pack?

Loaning out these players great sense to me:
They will be in the South East so not too far away and they will get first team football.
Could this move be the making of Kabba? I certainly think that he was only released for three months in a view to playing him later in the season in the Palace first team.

Agreed Dave, the report I read intially made it look like they were being touted around on trial. That mistaken impression arose from the fact they played in a Southend reserve match.
The fact these are loans is good. This policy was the making of young players like John Salako & Richard Shaw - I'm pleased to see it re-introduced.

I have also heard that Dsane has actually left us on a permanent deal. - which, if it's right, seems a complete waste of a talented young player to me.
