View Full Version : THREE players on Transfer List
** On this thread as it seems pretty big news to me **
I'm surprised that this hasn't already been mentioned (apologies if it has). As well as Jamie Fullarton (who we all knew about), James Hibburt and Stephen Hunt have also been placed on the transfer list...
This from the Official Palace Website:
THREE PLACED ON TRANSFER LIST
Palace have placed three members of their first team squad on the transfer list. Scottish midfielder Jamie Fullarton is the highest profile name of the trio: the 25-year old joined Palace in 1997 and has made 54 apperances for the Eagles over the last three years. His time at the club has been plagued by injury but the fans warmed to his robst style of play and aggressive attitude on the pitch. His only goal for the Eagles came at Coventry in a 1-1 draw just a few weeks after his arrival from Corsican outfit Bastia. The other two players to be placed on the list are youngsters James Hibburt and Stephen Hunt. Both have found it difficult to break into the first team, with Hibburt making only one start for the Eagles and Ireland Under 21 international Hunt being restricted to just four substitute appearances last season.
Where will this end?!

Hunt I thought was one of our most promising youngsters last season. I can only assume that he's been listed because he had a good relationship with Sir Steve!
He's just made the Eire U21 squad for god sakes, why the hell are we getting rid of all of our promising youngsters????

I agree with Psycho. I spoke to Steve Hunt at the Burnley game. He thought that he might be going out on loan.

Needless to say I think we are getting rid of entirely the wrong players. It's happened before and it's happening again.
I don't think any of Woozley, Dsane, Kabba, Hunt, Fullarton or Hibburt should be let go by the club. Some bad management is in evidence here - these are players we should be looking to keep, and there are others that should be listed in their places as well.
Our new regime has showed little interest in the younger players so far and it sadly looks set to continue.

I absolutely agree with Alan, and I was horrified to read this news. Who has made the decision to ditch these players?

Reserve games are usually attended by Ray Houghton - Smith and Cockerill are sometimes there for part of the games and Kember is usually there as well.
Certainly strikes me as obvious as to who's decided it.

If our squad had sufficient strength in depth you could maybe understand it, but as it is we can hardly get a team together for Saturday! What the hell is going on here? Even if you thought all these players were garbage (and they are clearly not), the decision makes no sense whatsoever. I can't believe they are on particularly high wages, and anyway is there a real need for cost-cutting already???
Can anyone shed any light on what is going on here? And can someone take a decision not to have any more trips to Spain, the fall-out from this jolly has been truly unbelievable.

I,m sorry but I thought bringing on good youth players was the way forward, with good coaching and loaning out to lower league clubs these players would be the life blood of the club, but I seem to be wrong buying over the hill, quick fix has beens that can only help for one or two seasons,Linigan being the exception.Am I wrong??

We're letting these promising players go, we're hanging on to clowns like Austin, and we're trying to sign even bigger clowns like Dichio!!!!!!!!!!
Is Smith on a personal vendetta to ruin the club, we truly are becoming a laughing stock, perhaps he wants his own back for the way he was treated during his last reign????
For Christ's sake keep hold of these players, most of them haven't even been given a chance. How can anyone honestly think that any of this is in the club's best interests. Smith, Jordan, answers now!!!!!!

Smith obviously doesnt think these players will make the grade with Palace, and having coached youngsters for most of his career, i think he's a better judge than we are!

We must hope that Smith and Jordan know what the're doing. It's so obvious to all of us that they're stripping us of potential future stars. They must have made the decision that the risk is worth taking, and instead filling our squad with more likely stars of the not-so-distant future.
Please let them be right. What a cock-up if they're wrong.
Sorry to sound like the anti-Palace, but, lets be brutal. None of the mentioned players have offered Palace anything to mention, as of yet.
The Palace reserve team now plays in the 2nd or 3rd Reserve league, along with Peterborough's and Cheltenham's and they are still losing!
Fullarton. How has in played in over 50 games, surely, they mean "appeared", as he gets injured every other day.
On top of all that, Hunt can not be that good, as in pre-season, he could not be distinquished from Sharpling.
Over the past season, every player mentioned above has been serverly critized on the BBS, with the exception of Dsane and Kabba as, they are virtually unknown.
I am not necessarily agreeing with the Management's decisons here, but, these players are becoming legends, since they were tranfer listed.

A couple of weeks back I started a thread called "Palace v Leeds: What went wrong?" comparing the fates of the two sets of players who had opposed eachother in a reasonably closely fought Youth Cup Final. Several Leeds players have gone on to international glory; most of ours ended up in Brentford reserves. Other than Morrison and Mullins, the only two left were Woozley & Hibburt. Well not for much longer, it would seem!
I posed the question then as to what goes wrong with our coaching. I agree we're probably getting rid of these players too quickly, but if they'd progressed even a reasonable amount, it wouldn't even be contemplated. So what is it at our club that stops it happening?

You said earlier that the BBsers wouldn't agree with the players who would be let go, did you have Kabba, Dsane, Hibburt, Woozley and Hunt in mind? and not the ones you mentioned here?
