Was I hallucinating, or did Simon Jordan not make the above statement a couple of months back? We will be lucky to field a five a side team soon. What's happening?

No, he was spot on, we are no longer a selling club. We just give players away now!

Depends why they are going. If it is for the right reasons, i.e. we can get in better players, then I am all for it.

After all, many of the players would be off if they could get a better deal elsewhere.

Same as any other job - if any of us could get a better deal/better working environment elsewhere, would we stick around?

Any chance of giving away our current manager?

Just a thought.

I doubt it.Maybe someone on the ill-fated Spanish trip should of thought about giving his passport away so he couldn`t get home.

Didn't Ron Noades say we weren't a selling club once?
The Palace way is if a player has any talent, lets flog him, and keep some donkeys.

I don't think flogging our youth players who the management team don't think are going to make it makes us a selling club.

That expression is reserved for clubs who do very well in a season, such as coming third in the premiership and reaching a couple of wembley finals and then selling their best players.

So long as we keep hold of our better players (Black, Fan, Gray) I'm not so concerned about selling some of the others.

Totally agree Baloo, I can't understand why people are making such a fuss about clearing away some of the dead wood. There have been so many young players in the past who have shown promise but where are they now? If we had our strongest side out, not one would have come through the youth system. They get to a certain level and if they aren't in the 1st team squad they stop improving and become very average. If they are average what's the problem with selling them on?

Yeah, I agree Baloo. The names of those two youth players have been around for a while now and would surely have been linked with a first team place if they had impressed. In my view get rid before we have a McKenzie, Morrison, even Dyer situation on our hands.
TWO F**KING EXCELLENT FRONT PLAYERS IN THE SAME TEAM THATS ALL WE ASK. Remember the last time that happened- good wasn't it.

Who would disagree that Wright and Bright brought out of retirement couldn't do a better job than the muppets up front at the moment?

If it hadnt been for administration, in all probability most of the players we are getting rid of, would have either remained in the reserves, or gone by now anyway.
That said Id like to thank them for the past 2 seasons and wish them all the very very best for the future

Please.

We're getting rid of the players who will only hold us back, ie. of limited ability. Can't see many arguments on that count...

All that remains is for them to be replaced with the players that will take us forward.

Patience people.

I am all in favour of letting youngsters go if the heirarchy at the club do not think they will make it here. However I am sorry to Roscoe D'sane leave, he did seem to have a personality, and I am sure he will be one of those players that we look on and say "If only...."

We've got a big squad and right from the start AS said he'd thin it out after about three months, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. I understand Kabba & Dsane are on loan only McKenzie seems to have gone. As for Saturday - who earned the suspensions - the management or the players? Just because a players on the list doesn't mean he won't play (see half the villa team) Recalling Woozley would have made sense though.

Sorry but I can't see the problem in getting rid of Mckenzie and Fullarton. They hardly lit up selhurst with their flair did they? The homesdale faithful didn't exactly welcome them onto the pitch every time they played did they?

I think maybe Woozley ought to be kept, I thought he showed a fair amount of promise in the past.

As for the youngsters, as someone else said, in normal circumstances they wouldn't have been near the first team and following the same logic they wouldn't have done in the future.

Good points about getting rid of dead wood people.

One question - how come Harris is still here?

Gladys Allover

With our distinct lack of creativity for tomorrow's game, I am presuming that Harris is still around to hurl the ball in as far as he can. It's an old trick Smithy....at Tranmmere.....and it might just work. God help us!

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Both Milan and Roma clubs at times have been unable to hold onto players does that make them selling clubs? Is Arsenal a selling club because they couldn't keep hold of Petit & Anelka?

We can and will argue about the right players to buy and sell though http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/wink.gif

Not sure how we are being described as a selling club when at least five of our first teamers have just been bought and we are looking to strengthen the squad further. Off loading reserves to streamline an enormous squad isn' quite the same as selling off players to stay afloat!
