Sit down! shut up!
You must have some sort of paranoid complex mate. I sit virtually next to the away supporters so surely I would have heard any racist comments that you would have done. But I didn't. I think you're just pissed off that you couldn't get three points against a team that is apparantley close to death.

I was disgusted when I read TrueBlue's comments about racism from Palace fans. I don't want to believe the allegations made by TrueBlue here and firmly believe that Palace fans do not have any racist reputation whatsoever, but after reading comments on here last season about a group of Palace fans who allegedly sang "No surrender to the IRA" at away games like Watford, I certaintly would not dismiss those comments as totally untrue, however I certainly can't comment any further becasue I don't know if TrueBlue was sitting with his own supporters or in a home part of the stadium and I probably wasn't sitting anywhere near him in any case.
Changing the subject slightly, I was very unhappy when I heard City's Shaun Wright-Phillips was booed when he came on as sub and a few times when he touched the ball. Just because his dad decided to go to Burnley it does not mean his son is a legitimate target for abuse.

I think it was me or P.Hep who wrote about this. But I must say that before that game I had never sen those idiots at Palace, and since the Watford game I've not seen them at Palace. The strange thing about those idiots was that none of them had any palace colours on what so ever. They were possibly neutrals looking to stir up trouble or even from the National Front.
I can honestly say that this is my only experience of Palace fans being racist.
I also agree with Ian and can't understand what the point was of booing Ian Wright's son. It was probably coming from the same morons who were singing the "Harold Shipman" song.

I've heard the no surrender song sung by a certain group at many away games. I've objected more than once. The group in question do have more right wing views than most.
As for it being racist the second line is "keep me English". I don't think that is refering to a happy clappy ethnically diverse English nation but an idea of Anglo Saxon supremacy. The phrase no surrender has associations with extremists of both sides in Northern Ireland. If you've seen the sort of meatheads who sing this song at Rangers, Chelsea or England games you wouldn't want your club associated with it either.

They're not patriotic, these people are too thick to have any emmotions like that. They aim to be confrontational and stir up trouble. I doubt they have any affinity to Palace at all, as it certainly didn't seem that way.

I think it was the 96/97 season when Insider and I had a go at a mug selling copies of 'The Flag' inside the Holmesdale stand.
...and the stewards and a certain fanzine editor weren't interested (which is fair enough, I suppose; print what you like. But you would have thought the stewards at least could have seen the potential for trouble there).
But I haven't personally witnessed or heard my mates speak of any rascist incidents since then (Holmesdale Block B when I could afford a season ticket / anywhere where I can afford to sit now).

Two seasons ago, I was sitting in the Whitehorse Lane end with a palace supporting mate, and I heard nothing racist from the Millwall fans in the Arthur Waite, so no. Thats not the incident I'm referring to. The incident of racism I am referring to was "Bowry you black ****" from the Holmesdale, which is where I watched the 2-1 (1997 - I think Duvet Fuchs scored). Admittedly, I'm not saying that racism is a big problem at Selhurst Park - but it does exist, and denying it happens at your ground whilst critisising Millwall (who openly ban and prosecute fans caught giving racial abuse) for the same thing is clearly hypocritical.

Funny that Onka, two seasons ago on my way to Selhurst from Norwood Junction, my mate and me had a kid of asian descent aged about 12 run up the road and ask if he could walk with us because he was scared stiff of a gang of about six millwall fans, all in their thirties, all with skin heads and tattoos who were calling him all the racist names under the sun:veryangry . They had also been hurling racist abuse some west indian ladies at the bus stop.
That is the only time I've heard anything like that in or around Selhurst, and my mate Trick who is a casual supporter who comes to a few games here and there, had never seen anything like it and could not believe what a bunch of racist thugs and animals those millwall supporters were!
Racism at Selhurst??? Only once a season when millwall roll in!

I think you'll find that I have never denied racism exists at Palace in fact if you looked hard enough you will find posts where I criticise racist Palace fans.
By the way, if you didn't hear a large number of Millwall fans doing 'monkey chants' that day I can only assume that you have a hearing problem as they were probably audible outside the stadium, let alone the Whitehorse. A couple of thousand fans doing monkey chants is pretty loud... I do hope you have had your ears syringed and sorted out since then. Actually I remember now a few of your fans coming on here and claiming that the 'ooh, ooh, ooh's' were merely booing. Perhaps you were one of them? Can't be bothered to check. That Bermondsey dialect sure is funny... I mean why the •••• do you swing your arms under your armpits when you boo?

Right or wrong politics has always had it's part of football (I think it's wrong). I first heard this song at Oxford about five or six years ago. The people who sing it are not all right wingers or must I point out to the single minded, all skinheads. I hate the IRA with all my heart. Religous bigitory ? not sure, It never mentions Ireland's two main religous groups and the IRA has protestants within it's ranks.
Let's get one thing right. Palace are not a rasict club. However I have heard it Palace when Ian Wright ran down the wing when he first joined, a group in the Arthur sang a song that he clearly heard, he stopped chasing the ball and looked up to where it come from. Never heard it again at Selhurst. Thank god.

No, I'm saying I find the signature tune of the right wing hooligan offensive. Think of the politics infused in "no surrender" and "keep me English". Yes some people who sing along are more morons than fanatics but its not something I want to see at Palace.
I first saw Palace fans singing this away at Fulham when a group came into a packed Irish pub afterwards during an Ireland Rugby game, sung this a few times at the telly, started Seig Heiling then left. There were a couple of woman who had been watching the game wearing Ireland shirts in tears. The Irish rugby team are a mixed north and south, Catholic and Protestant team. What I witnessed wasn’t patriotism or an unease at Irish terrorism it was racism.
