The solution to our striking crisis. Here is a former world player of the year, who has scored quality goals at the highest possible level, available on a free transfer.

His wages may very well be high, but there will of course be no transfer fee attached. A player of Weah`s undoubted quality would boost attendances in the way Lombardo did, and all being well, would prove to be of similar legend to Lombardo on the pitch.

Mr Jordan, Mr Smith, you know it makes sense

Without wanting to turn this into another who we should buy thread, Id also like to alert Messrs Jordan and Smith to the availability of Mr Colin Hendry at Coventry. An inspirational defender, highest level experience, and probably available for under 500k.

have to agree 100%,we don't want past it mercenaries who will leave after 2 months.

let's get Collymore and Carbone as well.

I've heard that Barry Venison and Gabby Yorath are available as well.

Yes, lets try to go for Weah, trouble is, I doubt if he'd come here. He's probably on his way back to New York.

As for Hendry, Smith would be uncomfortable with a player like him arriving, as he could see the big Scot being an ideal replacement for him in the management stakes.

Remember mediocrity,i.e Smith, never chooses success. It is too much of a threat to them.

FatAndy,

I dispute that Weah is past it, or a mercenary. He is still capable of 25 goals a season in this division. He left Man City mutually due to not getting in the side.

Cant help noticing that Neil Harris keeps banging in the goals for Millwall.

He's young can score goals, does not have any Palace history, wouldnt be astronomical wages.

I know its been mentioned in threads before, but surely worth a thought.

Saw Weah play for man City against Gillingham, although he scored 2 goals, they weren't particularly difficult, and he didn't look much. I think he's past it and certainly isn't worth the money he's likely to be asking.

Jaffa,

1) past it - he's 34,and has been released by 3 clubs in the space of 1 season. can't get ahead of Paolo Wanchope.

2) mercenary - he wanted the Fulham job (£££)
he went to Chelsea (£££) then went to Man City (£££). He signed for Man City on a Bosman Free, which is fine, BUT his signing on fee was £4 million, and he's on £25,000 a week.

I apologise if this means he's not a mercenary but it makes Terry Venables contract with us look pitiful.

He's a wining overpaid foreigner - deja vu.
answers on a postcard please.

Weah couldnt care less about British fooball. It was well documented that he didnt want to stay at Chelsea preferring life in Italy. He moved to City because no Italian club came in for him and would leave at the first opportunity.

We need to rebuild for the medium term, and Weah does not equal stability which is exactly what we need. Harris would be a great buy in my opinion.

Nice suggestion but unfortunately it WOULD be an astronomical fee. Millwall are thought to be wanting at least 4 million to consider parting with him.

Got to go with Fat Andy on this one. Last thing we need at the moment is someone like Weah.

Weah wouldn't come to Palace and yes he would want loads and loads of money. BUT I don't think he's past it, he still has the quality, you don't lose it in one season.

I'd love to see Harris at the Palace, but even if we were to come up with the 4mil or whatever, we would be the last club in the world Millwall would sell him to.
