I have mixed views about Keegan to be honest.
He may be able to regain a sense of team spirit and motivate our demoralised troops.
And he would attract some very good players to the club.
But i'm not convinced he is what we need right now. I think we already have a reasonably good squad of players and what we need is someone who can organise them - Keegan is tactically very naive and i'm not sure that he could do that.
- I also believe he may want a bit of time out after leaving the England job like he did after leaving Newcastle.

I don't think Stevie will return at least not while Jordan around he might even take the job at Oxford. Long ball Joe is a very good manager but I personally would'nt like to see him at Palace, just not our style. Keegan I like, attacking exciting football maybe,But hang on a minute Smithy's only been in the job 10 games. With new players coming in surely we need to give him a fair crack of the whip.
I hope not! He is just another Venables. After a successful playing career, Keegan thinks he is capable of management.
Exactly, what has Keegan achieved? Promotion from Div 1 to Prem with Newcastle, after spending excess millions and maybe a hand in the promotion of Fulham from the 3rd.
Lets face it, on paper Alan Smith is ahead of Keegan on achievments!

I'm For Kevin Keegan. He's not GOOD ENOUGH for england tactically but he's good enough for the PRem and Div.1. He'd get us up and get us challenging VERY HIGH. He's a great Motivator. BY THE WAY DONT ANY OF YOU LISTEN TO CLUBCALL (i do and my bill is a fortune) when we appointed Smithy Jordan was on it and he said that we turned down Joe Kinnear for Smithy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) any way Kinnear loves Wimbledon TOO MUCH!!

Keegan? No.
He is a sensitive soul, and the way anybody gets slagged off on BBS he would not put up with that for very long!

What, do you mean players who will be made captain and be expected to show a good example to all the younger players, and then enter into a running battle with an opponent when we're losing and end up being sent off, thus costing us any chance of recovering that game? Yeah, we need more of them. http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/frown.gif

NO, NO, NO......If Keegan couldn't motivate players to play for England what f**king chance has he got at Palace? And he has about as much tactical awareness as my knob (which he (Keegan, not my knob) has admitted)

This just in...Bald-Eagle's knob is quoted by William Hill as 25-1 for the England job.

Good one Nobby!
I certainly think bald-eagle's knob would do a better job than Howard Wilkinson

No thanks, we already have a good manager in Alan Smith who cares about our club. Why replace him with an overpaid underachiever.

Errr, negative negative - we do not want Keegan.
1. Give Smithy a chance - he has given all the squad he inherited a chance and is now making it his own. We will see results by Christmas or it will be time to call for Smiths head.
2. Keegan - high wages, would spend millions bringing in players on high wages - what is wrong with your short-term memory. Administration ring any bells ?????
Although it's a band word - consolidation is what we need. Building up gradually not breaking the bank with a mad rush.

NO NO NO
Keegan bottled it for England. When the going got tough Keegan ran for home. How many of you have really bad days at work and get a fraction of dosh Keegan gets and still go back the next day. Most of you I would wager.
Anyway I have no need to worry, as Keegan would want a Kings ransom to come to Palace.

Keegan isnt a managers asshole.
I can't believe this thread. No way would Keegan even consider coming to Palace, now I know he went to Fulham but I reckon that may have had something to do with money. Just a hunch. Besides, he always runs out when the going get's tough, and let's face it, it's already tough.
A King Edward's co-ordinates maybe ?

Can you imagine Palace under Keegan? Former gypsy Rob Lee (the best midfielder in Europe according to Keegan!) would be player coach and then take over from him after six months as soon as Keegan had spent all Jordan's money. Venables / Fenwick anyone!?
With the new spirit on show at Birmingham I really believe that Smith will get rid of the players who don't want to play, keep those that do, strengthen the team and improve results. Just give him a couple of months and we will be back in the top half by New Year.

Keegan............no thanks. Jordan doesn't have enough money to spend in order to tempt him to the club, in any case when all is said and done, what has actually achieved in management. He got Newcastle and Fulham promoted with shed loads of money. He couldn't handle it when the pressure was on at Newcastle and despite the money failed to win anything or build a team which was capable of sustaining their position at the top end of the premier league. he lost his bottle basically.
As for England, he was a disaster, clueless tactically, and picked some pretty strange line ups, and to top it all when things get a little uncomfortable for our Kev, his bottle goes again and he walks off.
This is not the type of character needed at Selhurst Park, the man has no stomach for a fight.
Coppell will never be back as long as Jordan is present, so let's forget that one please.
Kinnear is not interested, sees himself as too good for us I think.
So that leaves us with Smith, he's our manager, so let's just get on with what we've got.

NO, NO and NO
1) Smith has already shown that he cares in various interviews.
2) He has the credentials to be a good manager but no-one is prepared to give him a fair go, as everyone is still caught up in their 'Coppell is the only man who can manage Palace fantasy land'
3) Keegan would not come to Palace.
4) He would cost loads and loads and loads.
interested in sydney.

Why not hold a seance and see if we can contact Bill Shankly. He was a good manager,he could advise what to do from up there ,and he would not cost anything.
