You're not wrong Rolling - things have just become too tiresome now haven't they?

Roll on the start of the season so that we can start taking the mickey out of performances on the field instead of the boardroom.

Curbishley hasn't spent any dosh yet has he...what's happening?

Whats happening Gooders? I wish i knew.

Curbs has been out to Euro 2000 commentating with Capital GOld, has only just got back but while he's been away we've managed to screw up 3 potential transfer deals.

Sources close to the club say we had a shortlist of 10 signings, of which we were realistically looking at bringing in 3 or 4. Each signing would break our existing transfer record (which isn't hard, and isn't necessarily a good thing Valerie) - 2 players approx 2m-3m mark, and 1 player approaching 4m-5m.
These have turned out to be Rowett and Fish, and the big money on Gudjohnson, as reported in the Press, although leaky statements from the selling clubs to try and start a bidding auction don't help.

We went for Rowett with a 2.5m bid, Trevor Francis said he wanted 6m (?), we said no thanks, Leicester said we'll have him for 3m, they said yes, we said we've ballsed this one up haven't we.

We went for Gudjohnson, offered 4m, Bolton wanted more, Chelsea got involved, he went to join his foreign friends at the bridge - we cocked another one up.

We went for Fish, apparently agreed personal terms and 1.5m fee, but Bolton then decided to hold out for more money cos they've just got some dosh in from Eidur so no need to sell Fish. I think we're saying that Fish has got gammy knees, but I think the club just bodged another transfer deal.

So now we're looking at Duberry.

All in all i'm tired, bored, depressed, frustrated that we haven't spent any money - but the thing that really bugs me is that i keep telling myself over and over that the board are all charlton fans, they've been fantastic for the club in the past, they'll be fantastic for them in the future, curbs ia a great manager, i'm sure they all know what they're doing.

I have to take a back seat cos i'm a lowly fan who has no say in who we buy or for how much.

but i'm on this side of the fence with palarse fan in the office diggin away at me cos of the lack of signings.

Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh.

Roll on August 19, or August 12 for you boys - sorry, slight dig, uncalled for i know but i couldn't help myself.

So whats going on over at yours then?

Heh-up Rolling. Well, we've got to have a dig about something eh?

What's going on over at ours? A big fat nothing, as far as we can make out (or a fiasco of biblical proportions, depending on who you want to believe). I would bore you to death with some of the details but I really can't be arsed!

I wouldn't be crying about any of those missed signings if I were you - hardly inspiring, any of them. A striker who will get you 15 to 20 goals is an absolute necessity and I don't think Gudjohnsen is it. Fish is no great shakes (although I'll admit he does look better when he plays for South Africa) and despite being a bit of a statto when it comes to other clubs players, I have to confess that I've barely heard of Rowett.

So, a striker. Who's available and affordable and could do the job? Not easy is it?

Forssell is probably moving down the pecking order at Chelsea but he's far from being the finished article.

Sutton, even at 6 million, I would assume is too expensive? - although he could be just the type you need, IMVHO.

Can't think of anyone else really. Sheringham for one last hurrah?

Sheri signed 1 year extension to Man Utd.

Sutton is off to Boro.

I think Forsell is part of the deal with Bolton and we may see him at the Reebok on a loan basis.

That leaves Matt Janson for us at approx 5m, or some fisherman from slovakia who scored a hat-trick for his pub team versus the local army militia.

I pray that God has given him the sense not to go to you muppets. He would undo all the love of Palace in one swoop, frankly, he is too good for you.

I agree anti - Jansen in a Charlton top whatever next? Palace playing home games at Gillingham?

Also what is wrong with the mighty Sven?

He might just do the job for the Addicks. On the other hand you do not need reminding that it is a long season when you cannot score, resulting in a quick return to the Nationwide on the back of mind numbing 1-0 defeats.

Get the cheque book out.
