View Full Version : Best wishes from Griffin Park

I've just been over to the Grapevine. Bees fans could have been forgiven for thinking of our news solely in how it affects Brentford, so the messages of congratulation are even more heartwarming.
Er, compare this with the 'We'll never play you again' taunts from Charlton. We've got a lot to learn from the Addicks on how to run a football club but nothing to learn from their fans.
But I'll be looking out for Brentford's scores next season. Hopefully they and Bristol Rovers will be coming up...but maybe we'll go up too, so perhaps we won't play them til 2002 - in the Premiership. And maybe by that time Charlton will be in Division 2 - where we'll never play them again...
------------------
And Palace? Are they in front? Yes they are!

Yes, I think it is fair to say that Edmundo is 'virtually Palace' now - after all he is a BBC Palace Superstar.
I think you will find a few people willing to stand you a drink if you come along to our opening home game of the Season Edmundo. You know it makes sense!

Well, I had been hesitating to mention this ... but since your opening home game has been put back so that it doesn't clash with our opening home game and since you will be playing the hated QPR, I have been thinking of looking up Holmesdale Road on the A-Z and paying a visit.
I would be delighted to meet you all and let you buy me beer!! Who wouldn't? But just a couple of questions ...
(1) Where should I sit?
(2) Can I wear my replica Bees shirt?
I have decided to give some consideration to making Palace my "third team", after Brentford and Exeter City. A handsome defeat of the lowlife from Shepherds Bush would go some way to convincing me. I must point out, however, that I'm Brentford till I die.
anti-addick says BTW, Brentford have started an internet team for the coming season - look forward to a good league match with you guys v CPIFC
Indeed we have. I have the dubious responsibility of picking the team and organising tactics. We are still learning to play with each other and therefore on the end of some heavy defeats, but we will get better.
Dillenger asks Cheers, can we have Danny Boxall now ?
Certainly not. Danny is recovering from a cruciate ligament injury at the moment, but is the best right back we have had at Brentford in all the time I have been following them. Why did you let us have him for free?

But everyone keeps banging on about how difficult it is to get to Selhurst Park (oops, I was almost going to write Preistfield). Are you sure you're up to the task http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif

(1) Upper Holmesdale for the view. Lower Holmesdale blocks A, B and C for atmosphere.
(2) No problem. Just have a coat on when going through the turnstiles as the stewards can sometimes be a little awkward. Just to be on the safe side you could wear a big badge saying "Ron Noades' mother is a....." http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif

You've seen what has happened to this club over the past two years and you're surprised that a stupid decision like letting him go on a free was made?!!!!

It would be a pleasure to see you at Palace for the opening home game. In fact as I am thinking about going to Brentford the day before - we might have to arrange some sort of exchange visit ! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/supergrin.gif
Don't worry about sitting in the Holmesdale - which I can assure you will give you the best atmosphere - in the shirt - you might get some odd looks but no-one has any bad feelings toward Brentford.
As for Danny Boxall ... well I have said for two years that we never should have let him go. Sadly at the time though he was a pawn in the Noades/Goldberg debacle (along with a few other players) before Venables took over.
I understand he has said that he would like to come back - so if you don;t mind, can Mr Jordan start negotiations for him now ? http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Its been a long hard road Edmundo, but I am glad you were on it with us with refreshments and insight from griffin Park.
I'm a cynical old g*t but even I am l now looking forwards rather than back. I saw MG coming due to knowing former business associates of his. i was wary of Jordan when I first read about him, but at least he isnt worrying about share prices to sustain him. We'll have to wait and see but where we are today is a million miles better than where we've been, so thasts a start.

Edmundo, you're a gent, besides being one of the few people to consistently provide sanity on the BBS over the past months. Keep visiting, I'm sure you'll be welcome.
Just thought i`d add a few words to you guys.
I said recently on the Brentford board that CP fans had put up with more sh*t in the last 2/3 years than most fans face in a lifetime. I think that`s fairly accurate.
What you`ve also managed to do is keep very good gates.
Respect to you and best wishes....hope it`s uphill for you from here!!
all the best ,
Pete J(Brentford)
ps - anti addick, if you wanna footie game v our lot e-mail Stedders (Hey Jude X1 manager)on Paul.Stedders@virgin.net and i`m sure he`ll be up for it. We aint very good though ! ;-)

Edmundo,
I said it last night on another thread, but as this is the official one, I thought I'd post again.
Thanks for all your support and for the messages on the Grapevine, which I know have been there for some time. I'm not registered ,but I do go over and have a look now and again.
I'll certainly follow Brentford's results with more interest in the future. Good luck for the new season......unless you draw us in one of the cups, of course.

I know that some of you have popped over to our messageboard, the Griffin Park Grapevine Bulletin Board, http://gpgrapevine.co.uk/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi already.
But for everyone else, I'd just like to pass on the good wishes of Brentford fans for your future. We look forward to meeting you in a competitive fixture in the near future (at which point the best wishes will be temporarily withdrawn, of course).
