Oh yeah, Psycho, I'm not complaining. I just wondered if there was a particular reason for it.

It's a lovely little system at the minute. Ooh, Tommy Tommy, Tommy Tommy Tommy Tommy Tommy Black. http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif

Presumably Cole, Gray and Black were all sourced during Steve Coppell's reign. Was Stuart Taylor afterwards? I suppose the Latvian link indicates an ongoing "understanding". as posted above, no complaints

It's just a coincidence because of our London location and our predicament. The fact that the situation is mutually beneficial probably means we're talking more at the moment, so we may have discussed the goalie with Arsenal, maybe not. Besides we acted as a feeder for their best ever scorer, in a manner of speaking.

And I'd rather have the current relationship, getting the use of the fruits of their youth training, than the situation that seemed to pertain 15-30 years ago when we seemed to get endless Chelsea players, often past their best (or in Tommy Langley's case no better than they'd ever been).

Didn't one-time Palace hero-turned-football-agent Ian Wright once have something to do with Arsenal? Just a thought.

I've mentioned before that I saw Tony Finnegan at Crawley and it looked like he was Julian Gray's agent.

Tony Finnegan works for Ian Wright's agency, along with Andy Gray.

Ian Wright played for both Palace and the Arse.

It's not rocket-science is it?

The Stuart Taylor scenario however shows the pitfalls of such "an agreement". Just becuase Arse Wenger doesn't want him cup tied, we're expected to play along. He either wants his player to receive vital first team experience or he doesn't.

Given that ARSE-nal are notorious for thir complete disregard of the early rounds of the Worthington Cup (ie fielding second string sides), I find this attitude all the more hypocritical.

We're not a vehicle for THEIR success!

No, Gooders, you're right - it's not. But I hadn't seen your post about that before. Now I know. Thank you. http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif

There has definitely been a relationship forged. One of the regional scouts confirmed it to me.

I mean, look at the recent transfer evidence...

* We had Ashley Cole on loan last season from "the Arsenal"

* We purchase Julian Gray and (Super) Tommy Black from them

* We take Stuart Taylor on loan from them too

* We buy the Latvian keeper Kolinka from Skonto Riga a day after Arsenal buy Lavian defender Stepanovs from Skonto Riga (and according to a Gunner friend, Kolinka was being trialled by Arsenal too)

Are we very good friends with Arsenal or what ? It's a beautiful North-London-South-London-love-thing.

I asked something similar previously, I reckon we could be being primed as a feeder/nursery club, and to me thats worrying.

As often happens at "big" clubs many players are looked at & if they dont make the grade they are passed on to lower league clubs. It looks to me that this is happening between Arsenal & ourselves, obviously we are being tipped off that players who would not make the first team at Highbury ,but could do a good job for us,are available.Long may it continue.

I'm not complaining, just look at the standard of the players they've given us on the cheap!

They got the hump because we owed them loads of money and the system never got off the ground. Aren't they linked up with Charlton now?

If there's a relationship with the Arse then fine, but why couldn't we get Vernazza ?? He's slipped back below the horizon into the stiffs again !

Whatever kind of relationship it is - it has done nothing but benefit our club.
And if, in a year or two's time, Cole does not eventually become an Arsenal regular - then you never know... it could help us again.

For memory, Inter Milan are currently in partnership with Charlton.

Re: Vernazza - he is garbage, all Arsenal and Pompey fans (he was on loan there last year) will confirm. Our current midfield is doing just fine thank you.

That's right - and a fat lot of good it's done them so far.

Or are Inter lending them players for their womens team?
