I bought their 'Greatest Hits' album a couple of months back and have to say they're amazing.
Anyone seen them live ? Are they still about ?

I saw them many years ago at Finsbury Park, supporting Neil Young (when he was backed by Booker T. & the M.G.s). Alongside 4 Non Blondes (forgetable), James (excellent) and Pearl Jam (they're called that for a reason) the Teenage Fanclub were notable only for a embarrassing cover of 'The Ballad of John & Yoko' (of which they didn't know all the words).
They seem to be critically-aclaimed (in the sell feck-all sense of the word) though.

Seem them live about six times. Amazing band altho' starting to lose their rocky edge in recent times. They sell millions in Spain I've been told and have had decent album success in the UK.

I can't believe these Mods haven't moved the thread yet...lay-abouts.
'I need direction' has been going around in my head all day.

Good band - very melodic.
I'd say that ''Songs From Northern Britain", ''Howdy" and their debut "Bandwagonesque" rate as their best albums. Others such as ''Thirteen'' and ''Grand Prix'' suffer in parts from being a bit too laid back, but still have their moments.
Hopefully the release of the ''Greatest Hits'' album doesn't mean that the band have decided to call it a day.

Seen them several times - saw them with Manic Street Preachers when they each put out their first albums at that place on Highbury Corner, saw them when they did that tour with Nirvana.... seen them tour just about all the album. I love them! But they are erratic live. "Bandwagonesque" is the second album - the first is "A Catholic Education".... they don't sell millions in Spain, btw.

Lucky for you no cover versions...
Have to say 'Neil Jung' is a of a bit smart-arse title (even if I like puns like that).

They rip off Big Star quite poorly. I find them a little boring.

Saw them at the Reading Festival n 92, apparently Nirvana had requested they play!! They played an absolutely storming set in the rain before Nirvana came on & their single "Starsign". One of my all time favourite tunes, superb! :p

Fantastic band. I've seen them 3 times now.
I saw them recently at the Astoria and at the Northampton Roadmender. My mates good friends with the band so we usually get to go back stage.
Check out their website. The message board is pretty good.

A few cracking tracks, but the albums always sounded a bit lack-lustre, I prefer a bit more "rock"!

Love them although I haven't bought any of their stuff since Grand Prix. I've also got Bandwagonesque and Thirteen. May have to get some of their more recent stuff.

Saw them at Glastonbury years ago, wasn't planning on it but they came on to the NME stage to the sound of MOTH plus at least 200 footballs, brilliant literally hundreds of football flying around all over the place, great entrance, don't remember anything else but im fairly sure I saw the whole gig and enjoyed it.
