View Full Version : your ONE fave song of ALL time

Sir.S.C Remembered

Bet this has been done to death infact I know it has as I'm sure I have started similar things in the past but not sure that there has ever been a thread where only one song can be mentioned. I find that even with youngsters like myself that older songs are always the pick for favourite song of all time. Mine must be (although I bet it will change):

Lionel Ritchie - Easy Like Sunday Morning

Is it? thought it was after he left the Commodores? As Chris Tucker says in Rush Hour 2 "Lionel Ritchie aint been black since the Commodores!"

Whatever it is its very good and the Faith no more version is not a touch on the origional although his duo with that Lemarr off Fame academy was impressive despite me not being able to find it on Kazaa

There are too many great songs to choose a favourite, and I will avoid the marvellous 'Power To The Palace' and 'Glad All Over' options.

It makes me feel dirty and shameful to admit that I might agree with Paul McCartney about the Beach Boys 'God Only Knows' being the best song of all time though.

Yes they were, along with 2 people who seem to have vanished. One called Dalvin, and one called DeVante. As for brothers, yes they are.. Cedric (K Ci) and Joel (Jo-Jo) Hailey.

Surely Heroes and Villains is the superior Beach Boys number?

Such a tough question - I think my favourite must be a Beatles tune but I wouldn't know where to begin - they've written so many classics.

Therefore I will bottle it and vote for The Ballad of the Easy Rider by The Byrds.

Or should I go for Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay, Otis Reading?

I'd say is more to do with associated memories. On that basis, its gotta be Bohemian rhaposdy, I still get adrenalin rushes thinking of those times when this song gets played.

Life changing memories associated include, (whilst this song was in the charts, 8 month time span i think)

Moving out of home for the 1st time, (from Milton keynes to auckland rise, south norwood, boy was i happy about that ;)

Having a fair dinkum girlfreind for the 1st time (courntey love lookalike with all the pro's and con's, boy did she show me life)

Getting arrested, (in the whitehorse lane end) with pretty serious charges twice in 6 weeks at Selhurst park, and somehow avoiding jail. After the 2nd event settled down, i only ever went to the football with female company and sat down. even with those precautions i still got "the urge" such was the drug like rush of confrontation.

Booking a holiday to Australia.

Yehp that song brings back memories

Losing my Religion by REM.

If proof of your fave song is general indifference to the artist, then this is the DB's to me.

Living Years by Mike and The Mechanics.

Message behind it is very pertinent to me when I lost a parent (mum) whilst I was quite young.

Dedicated by Paul Carrack (who, in case you don't know who he is, also sung with Mike and the Mechanics on The Living Years, wrote and performed How Long by Ace - the first song he ever wrote, and a number one hit - wrote 'Love will keep us Alive' for the eagles reunion tour and sang with Squeeze for a while, including on the single 'Tempted' to name just a few things he's done in a long and illustrious career)
