Not sure if this thread or one simlier has been done before, but what is everyone's favourite Genre of music?

I'll have to go with Hip Hop- UK (Jehst, Task Force e.t.c)
- US (Pharcyde, Souls of Mischief)

But i'm into alot of other types, though this is my favourite.

Your favourite's people??

Kind of a cross between Marilyn Mansun and Roger Whittaker.

Go with Funk, but I don't like pigeon holeing...

You left the following options off the poll:

Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Pre-Classical, Classical, Romantic, Operatic, Choral, Orchestral, Impressionistic, Expressionistic, Cubist, Serial, Minimalist, Avant-Garde, Musique Concrete...

Not to mention Soul and Rhythm & Blues.

Most of the options you have mentioned I wouldn't know if they slapped me round the face with a wet Sea Bass.

Sorry... R&B= Rhythm & Blues anyway!

Apologies for the Soul and about the 17 others you mentioned.

You're not seriously comparing R & B to Rhythm and Blues are you?

Oh. My. God.

Sorry but the SH!T that these days is known as R&B is not even in the same league as real Rhythm & Blues.

John Lee Hooker, BB King, Leadbelly, Howlin' Wolf... Loads more true artists too numerous to mention.

If you are interested in what R&B should sound like and want a nice easy introduction to some grown up's music ;) , I suggest Eric Clapton & BB King's album, Riding With The King.

:)

I meant to say that the catagory R&B was supposed to be a shortened version of Rhythm and Blues. Anyway it looks like this thread has gone pear shaped. Oh well

All sorts really but mainly indie and a bit of metal.

I adore hardcore trance, not the soft stuff in the charts. From the options available funk would fit the bill. I've listened to Robert Elms on 94.9FM and some of the funky friday tunes he plays are the real deal. (BBC94.9FM is where the Palace commentries can be heard)

Depends whether you'd count Oasis as Rock or Indie, I'd personnally go for rock.

Well, I'm an indie bore. This is my favourite genre, and I have an unhealthy prejudice against most music that doesn't have guitars on it. I even don't mind Girls Aloud - mostly because their songs have guitars on them, but also because I would like to shag them all, one after the other.

Classical is OK. You can play Tchaikovsky's (sp?) 1812 overture over and over for me. (It's the one with the canons in it).

I'll listen to almost anything you throw at me...

but my favourite music probably trance, house and funky house music. I've bought some decks and a mixer, so am learning to become a DJ (If you can call it that! ;)...with US House being the area I focus in)

My music taste varies though, depending on where I listen to it, and what kind of mood I'm in. :p

Have to agree with this 100%. I like most stuff but mainly Rock,Punk,Northern Soul,Motown and the old style R&B. Can't stand Rap,Funk and what they now call R&B although the odd track comes out which is ok. Out of todays chart music Paul Weller,Oasis,David Gray & Toploader are probably my favourites.

I like both types of Music.

Country AND Western.

( auctually I voted for Rock. I dont know what most of the others are but would agree about R & B not being what most young people seem to think it is. Out of interest why did they start labeling modern rubbish as such ? )

I like so many different genres, but I dont really think "oooh I fancy a bit of blah blah blah" I just listen to it. Might be Crystal Method one day and the Dixie Chicks the next. I just don't know.

And I certainly don't mean the drivel they call commentary submerged in the text messages "from John in Croydon who says come on Palace".
