Posting Pictures

I'm having a nightmare trying to post some pictures that I've scanned in.

I've saved the pictures as 'jpg' files.

I've uploaded the files (apparently successfully) to geocities.com

I can view the pictures at their uploaded location using my browser (Internet Explorer)

If I insert the URL of the uploaded jpg's in-between [ IMG ] tags, the pictures initially appears, but when I retuin to the site, it's just a tiny "X" icon.

When I try to insert further pictures, previous ones tha originally appeared OK, will disappear.

WHAT'S GOING WRONG ????

I THINK I remember reading that no pictures can be posted here that are located at Geocities.

Geocities have somehow stopped images or anything i suppose being linked from their site.

So where else can I post them so that they appear ? nbci.com doesn't seem to work either; I registered but the promised web space is still unavailable.

Problem solved. The reason is that you cannot view files posted to geocities.com as pointed out above ... thanks for that. zyworld.com seems to work as an interim measure although they want payment after a free 30-day trial. Anywhere else with free webspace ? NBCi.com doesn't seeem to work either. I'll try the BBS webspace that you've suggested. Cheers.
