View Full Version : Music or football?
We’ve had plenty of ‘either or’ threads and this should hopefully push the BBS a little closer towards the one million posts mark.
A totalitarian government wants to halve the happiness quota of its people, So you must choose… music or football. You can’t have both, which one are you gonna give up?

If they ban music and keep football, will they ban us from singing at the football? But then again not many people sing near me....
Overall, I'd very reluctantly have to bin the football.
Sorry about not posting up a poll, can I do one now?
It's clear from all the threads in general chit chat that a love of music rivals a love of Palace/football for many of us. What gives me more pleasure? Generally it's music and, given the way I feel about football these days, it wouldn't be much of a wrench to walk away from the game for good (although I tried it once and didn't last long before I was back in the fold).
Music on the other hand is much more often a joy. I'm not sure that any song has ever hit me with quite the explosion that Mark Bright's equaliser at Villa Park did, or Ian Wright's goals at Wembley or in the play-off against Blackburn, but that was a long time ago now and, while I can think of thousands of great records and bands, I could pretty much list football's greater but far fewer highs on one hand.
No band that has come and gone would ever have affected me in the way that Palace has, but overall I'd settle for music's consistent pleasures over the all too rare triumphs that Palace/football offers.
I should have put that poll up as I suspect that, for most of us, Palace would lose out pretty badly to music.

You didn't say 'PAlace' - you said 'football' ;)

Sorry Palace but I could never, ever, ever live without music.
Palace IS football, Maz. :) If you give up football you therefore give up Palace, I'm not cheating just clarifying.
This is a real nasty piece of legislation here. The men from the ministry in their big overcoats and trilbies are coming round tomorrow with a wheelbarrow. You can either stick all your programmes, scarves, shin pads, season tickets, Sky subscriptions and boots, the lot in it OR you can put your CDs, records, tapes, turntables, amps and speakers in.
I shall be weeping as they move to the next house, but I reckon that barrow will be full of scarves and replica shirts and not records.

I don't listen to much music, but even if I did I'd still give it up over football. Crystal Palace are so much better than any music.

If they banned music from Palace that would be ideal. We'd be able to talk to each other before the game and at half time. Sounds like heaven.

Sorry its got to be football, a few years ago it would have been music. But some of the experiences I've had from music do outweigh those from football.

Good thread this, interesting results too!..Seem like although we adore Palace and they are a BIG BIG part of our lives, no-one can just give up music when it helps us through so much!

Music was my first love
And it will be my last
Music of the future
And music of the past
To live without my music
Would be impossible to do
In this world of troubles
My music pulls me through

Accidently voted for the wrong one but I'd be prepared to give up footy as it's only Palace that keeps me interested in the game.

A leg. Then I'd get to marry a popstar.
