.... some of you clearly haven't read (or perhaps understood) this message.

It isn't intended to be heavy handed ... it is simply because the BBS is much easier to navigate when all messages on the same (or similar) subject are kept in a single thread.

Before posting a new thread PLEASE have a look to see if your point is being discussed elsewhere.

Hi James,

James You are absolutely right, but it might help if certain threads were nominated as THE thread for each topic.

To that end, might I suggest: (Thread = discussion topic)

WHOLE Picture = Saturday's performance (if you can all it that)
Gutsfull = Smith OUT
A challenge = Possible Smith replacment
Jordan, new found patience = Jordan's (lack of) reaction to Saturday
zero respect = Smith & coaches v the players
Blame players = reaction to Smith's comments after the game

There, that should cover it!

Try an asprin, then but don't come on hear fouling up a perfectly good thread with your medical complaints or you'll get moved to General Chit Chat forthwith.

Moderation my RS, time to get tough with these wasters - you with me, Mitchell?

PLEASE No more 'Smith must go' threads'.

If you want to join the growing band of BBS contributors calling for Smith's head, there are plenty of active, existing threads which you can use.

Thank you.

James, I think the problem is that BBS'ers scan the subject headings without checking the contents. The fact that thread subject headings are very often hieroglyphic doesn't help.

Can we have a 'Smith Out' forum? 300 threads all on why we should sack Smith http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif

When I first read this I failed to notice that the thread was orginally started back in October. Back then everyone was calling for Smith's head and 5 months on, nothing's changed.

Smith must go.

Errr, have I just changed this into another 'Smith must go' thread?

Must be our lack of mental strength.

Either that or we are all seasoned old posters.

Or we are not eating the right food.

Or we don't speak English.

James, does it really matter if threads are similar? Why don't you just relax and let the BBS flow as it is, instead of issuing directives. The BBS's strength is its independence and if we start introducing too many rules and protocols, we'll ruin what we've got.

James

This has been a rule since the BBS started (see the posting guidelines). It isn't a silly rule, imposed for no reason. It's designed to make the BBS easier to navigate.

If everything is in one thread, then it is possible to follow a discussion through from the beginning to its conclusion. If the same point (or a similar point) is addressed in two or more threads, it is practically impossible to follow. As the BBS gets bigger - and more and more Palace fans join - it will become more important to ensure some sort of order.

All the moderators exercise a large degree of discretion, and threads are only closed as a last resort. This is just a simple request (not a command or a threat) to try and make it easier for all of us to read the Boards.

Thanks

Agree, got to be done. I've lost count of which threads I've said Jan molby should be the next amanager and which ones I've called for Peter Taylor. It's all very confusing, isn't it!

3) will we stay up, and if so how?
4) Simon Jordan and his brother

.. or indeed anything which might fit in to an open thread. Please take a few minutes to review the recent open threads before starting a new one.

Thanks.

As James starting this thread back in October and no-one seems to be taking a blind bit of notice of him, I have started to wonder if he went to the same management school as Alan Smith http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/eek.gif

So, what exactly is your point James http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/redface.gif

Obviously James is fishing for compliments. Tries to convince Jordan that he's got stamina as well.

I agree David,

I think that there are remarkable similarities between the middle-aged under achiever and Alan Smith!

Quite frankly, he talks about the BBS as if it is his own when we all know the credit should go to Dave, and as a result, has lost the confidence and respect of the BBSers.

I have also noticed that whenever James applies these heavy-handed tactics the form and quality of mine, and several other BBSers' posts has suffered. I wasn't going to speak up before now as I thought it was for the more established BBSers to do take a lead.

I think it's time for a Mitchell out thread.....

Or at least a chorus of "You don't know what you're doing".....

James
