I was sitting just in front of the Box where S/J sits and I heard that the Top Well known Goalkeeper we are going to get is Ian Walker, Well it fits what we have heard, if it is true it would be a great signing.

I thought there was a possiblilty of us signing Algimantas Vasiliasukristovas, from Zalgarsepticus Vilekneeius.

Vasiliasukristovas is the current Lithuanian number two, and would cost about £200k.

Alternatively, he is available on prescription from Boots

Pintofduvelplease sorry to tell you , but, Algi (to his mates) just signed for Bodmin Rovers for 2 roofing tiles and a cork screw. It was Terry Venerial that said he was worth £200k

Yesterday the press was carrying a story of how Walker was unhappy with the arrival of Sullivan and claiming he needed first team football. Methinks it may be one of those little PR exercises used to soften up supporters before a player leaves.

Except in his case the fans won't need softening up - they'll be delighted to see him go. However, I doubt Graham wants to sell him, otherwise he would never have let Baardsen go to Watford.

Unless Tottenham have another good 'keeper under wraps somewhere as cover for Sullivan, I can't really see them letting Walker go. Especially as they have let Baardsen go as well. Mind you my brother(Tottenham fan) would be over the moon if we bought Walker, as he said last night "First Austin, now Walker, all you need to do is buy Ruel Fox and you've bought three of our worst ever players, cheers Bruv!"

There is about as much chance of an international goalkeeper with bad hair who earns around 20,000 a week joining Palace as there is of us winning the first division this season.

For gawds sake get real people!

I hope you are right Gooders!! In my opinion he is one of the most overrated goalies ever!!

This would be a very bad signing.

That's good news Eagle and would be excellent for us - having Stuart for a whole year gives us much more time to have a look at him.

To be honest - I can't see Arsenal ever giving him a chance - they'd be more likely to buy a proven keeper than use a young player, so hopefully it'll work out best for all concerned !?

Hopefully we'll keep Gregg and Lee Kendall who has a big career in front of him IMHO, and with Taylor - that'll be us sorted for goalies.

If Richard Wright is lined up for Arsenal, presumably he'd be certain to go there if Ipswich go down, then it's more likely that he'll be a replacement for Seaman, either that or it's goodnight Vienna for Manninger. Either way Taylor will still be the third choice, I'm not sure Arsenal would let him go in those two cases.

I doubt it. Wright pledged his future to Ipswich and signed a 4 year extension to his contract

Bloody Hell! Arsene Wenger rates Wright that highly that hes going to replace the entire side with him! Its cheeky, but you know, it just might work http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif

As far as the prospect of Taylor being here for the whole season goes, well it would be nice, and his squad number suggests that it might be true, but then it might also suggest that neither Digby or Gregg are rated and Taylor will be replaced when he leaves. As long as that replacement isn't Walker then I will be happy.

A minor point, Eagle, the loan agreement with Arsenal for Taylor was for an initial one month, with the prospect of increasing this to 3 months, not the full season. Something may well have been said since, but wasn't at the time of the signing.

Well thats it then. Richard Wright won't be leaving Ipswich until at least 2004. If only some of our players were as loyal ...

Well, I think (and always have) that walker is pants. Anyway 1) he'd be too expensive and 2) could yu imagine him stepping down to from the premier league? He rates himself too highly.

i'd prefer to keep Taylor (despite his blunder, and the case of nerves afterwards) he looks. Surely (as Arsenal have Seaman as first choice and Manninger - still - as second) there's a chance of doing a one year loan deal (a la Forssell) and with an option for Arsenal to recall him if they need?

If Wenger lets us have Taylor lets get him quick. His mistake was excusable for a 19 year old with only one and a half first team games, this kid is class.

As for Black, if his name was Negri or Noire he would be an Arsenal first team player.

Exactly, Big Letter, contracts don't mean anything these days in football, if Ipswich get relegated this season and i think they will then there's no way Wright's going to stay there is he when he can play in the Premiership.
The same goes for Clinton Morrison, he has reportedly signed a 4 year contract but i don't personally expect him to still be here in 4 years but i hope so.
Also, i'm only stating what Taylor said on Sunday but they was the agreement i also heard Big Letter about the 3 month option but as you say it may well now of changed.

Kendall's gone to Barry Town with Peter Nicholas. They were live on Eurosport last week playing Boavista in some sort of european qualifier, and as usual Lee was excellent. It was interesting to see Jamie Moralee playing for Barry Town as well.

I don't think Taylor is the answer to our problems GK wise. Look at Chris Day, when he first played for us he was outstanding, but as the season wore on and we took a couple of poundings he was ruined confidence wise.

Also do you think it's a good idea having an ex-kitman, ex-London Cabbie as our goalkeeping coach? Can someone tell me What Vic Bettinelli's qualifications are that enable him to coach our goalkeepers?

My sentiments exactly. When Walker was on the fringes of the England team, and was vying with Martyn for second spot behind Seaman, I wondered what was wrong with the world. Walker wasn't fit even to carry the Great Man Martyn's gloves...in what kind of parallel universe could Walker even be considered a decent goalkeeper?

For Christ's sake don't let us sign him...I'd rather have Perry Suckling back...or John Salako between the sticks, on the basis of one game several years ago...I'd even roll out the red carpet for a Paul Barron return...or that fat bloke who used to play for Shrewsbury...but NOT Walker...

Kendall IS still with Palace (after all the confusion !) and is at Barry on a three month loan period.

Taylor looks very promising - I don't think he reminds me of Day at all - who got off to quite a shaky start up at Birmingham, then got better, and then got worse again !!

Wonder if the rumour I heard had anything to do with his dodgy form !?
