After the dilapidated July version of this competition, I think this months comp. will be one of the best ever. With sporting events like the Olympics, Premier league, the Championship, Champions league, Primera Division, Bundesliga, Nordic football all starting again.
Can anyone beat the two time reigning Norwegian champion this time around though, that's the big question (:D ) !?

Number of bets; 20 in the first round and 15 in the second round.
This thread is only to be used for competition comments. Any other bets that are not part of the Masters should be put on the normal Betting Thread.

Anyone who wishes to take part in the betting masters '09 must “register” (post on this thread) before the end of 15 of August. It's free to join and the only rule upon joining is that you start your first tip with I'M IN in capitals at the start of it so that I can keep an easy trace of when people started their campaigns.

Rules are as follows

1 Every player has 200 points to bet with in the first round.

2 Each separate bet made is 10 points meaning players have 20 bets during the first 20 days.

3 In the second round the 4 finalists all start on 0 points, but the winner from the first round will get an additional 10 points (1 bet) to the 150 points that can bet used in the second round.

4 Betting Masters, first group stages runs from 0000 on the 01 of August (standard UK time) to 2359hrs on Friday 20/08/04. Then the top four posters come together in a mini league from there on and out August month.
Final bet settlement must occur before 2359 on the 31, August.

5 Naturally the winner is the person with the highest score on September 1st

6 Scoring consists of total winnings and is inclusive of 10 point stake i.e. someone bets on a 6/4 horse and it wins their score becomes 25 (15 points profits plus the 10 pt stake) There is no score for any bets not used. Losing bets are scored as zero, not -10.

7 Players must quote where they're getting their prices. In the case of exchanges/live betting, in order to clarify that a price genuinely existed the player must put on some of their real money to create a betting slip that will confirm the price they have submitted for Betting Masters. Most prices will be acceptable but in the case of a very high price, a player may be asked to produce a screen print on the thread to verify the price they
quote.

8 Singles and upwards accepted.

9 For boxed multis and bets such as yankees, each separate bet within the bet counts as separate and will cost 10pts per bet. e.g. ten trebles from five selections will use up 100 points.

10. E/W bets are counted as a single bet in the masters, which means 10 points / 2

11. For tracking purposes, players are requested to put the outcome of their bets on the post for all events other than international cricket/European soccer/tennis.

12. Where possible players are requested to put down a running total of their bets in their posts, although I'll also try and produce rolling league tables where possible.

13. The bets must be possible to do in real life, meaning for example that If you got a multi, all the odds have to come from 1 bookmaker. You can’t shop around for the highest odds and put them together.

I expect everyone on here to be honest, if they want to cheat, it could easily be done. I don't check everything, but the rules are there for a reason. I mean one could for example say that I got odds of 5 on there being under 2,5 goals in the current Brann - VIF game..and who could challenge that in 5 minutes ?
But again the general "rule" is that we're all honest people on here. And I don't think that anyone thus far have challenged a live bet.. If someone did the only conclusion would be to void the bet if proof couldn't be shown.

If the general consensus is that we should just accepted what people say when it comes to live betting, it's fine by me. But that has not been the case in previous masters.

To reiterate my main point again when it comes to live betting:
If a live bet is challenged by any other contestant the player in question must have some proof of the bet. Or else the bet is void.

But I suggest another vote..

Well even the price you can get on exchanges, for example a horse can go off at 12/1 with ladbrokes but on Betfair it may be over 20/1, I wouldnt lie about it but if others do its up to them, if others want to challenge my odds then fine....... :)

As already stated we normally don't ask for proof..but Very high prices...that doesn’t happen very often and when it does we should be able to get confirmation of such bets...

only recently got a betfair account, I know that before an event goes off you can click on a horse and it shows the prices that have been previously matched, I imagine this can be done after the event has finished can't it?

If so then it would be easy to see how much was available to match at what price, would expect eyebrows would only be raised if someone got a price at its very top (which appears very very difficult to do though I guess not impossible)

Maybe someone knows more than me about that
