View Full Version : Best Album Ive Heard All Year
Jaffa

Ive just heard what I believe to be the finest album of the year.
Rings Around The World by The Super Furry Animals
Its not out yet, I got a white-label copy from someone, but only need to wait two months :) The songs are fantastic, back to the heady heights of Guerilla (not as strange as last album Mwng), and the title track challenges Northern Lights to my affections of #1 furries song ever.
This year promises to be a great year for good old british guitar rock. The Ash album was fantastic, the new Travis album (the Invisible Band) sounds great on White Label, Starsailor have a lot of high expectations on them and I would expect the Feeder album to be a good un too.
Discuss.

Surely none of these are as good as the new R.E.M. album, Reveal? I'd say it's the best album of the 21st Century!

Mental note of albums to buy
New REM
Clubbers Guide to Ibiza 2001 (sorry!)
Radiohead - Amnesiac (Monday)
Travis (When?)
Hang on, if that's a mental note, and it appears on the BBS, do we all exist only in Kev T's head?

Got Amnesiac a while back, and wasnt too impressed. Its a lot like Kid A. Ok, its technically very clever, but I prefer a bit of a tune to technical wizadry. Pyramid Song isnt bad though. Best Radiohead album ive got is "Rarities" which has the delightful Banana Co. and Palo Alto. Shame its a bootleg album and never released.
Dont know when The Invisible Band is out, but its brilliant. Flowers in the Window is a true summer feelgood tune.
The new Furries album is class though Kev, Id recommend you buy it.

While your all talking about the best album I'm going to spoil this post & put the worst album of the year.
Pure Garage 4 is awful particularly in comparison to the other Pure Garage series. DJ EZ hang your head in shame! The new Destiny Child album was also a bit of a let down.
As for the best album the Dido album is well worth listening to. I’m just waiting for the Prodigy to release some new material. The sooner the better.

I've just bought Ash free all angels literatly about an hour ago. It hasn't let me down so far. Feeders album is also very good.

I got the new Bon Jovi - One Wild Night album this week, its class, i can't stop listening to it.
I am in the privelaged position of not actually paying for my CDs, so.. i also have the Dido album, which is good but i do find the songs sound the same after a while. I also have the new Destiny's Child album and i do like it, didn't find it a let down. I also have the Stereophonics album (J.E.E.P) and that is good. With very little duds too.

I'm with markholmes1991 Dido's album is very good. The new Stereophonics album was boring, a real let down after their superb last one. All 19 years of my life my Dad has played REM and I've never liked them but their new album is very good.:D

I've always liked "Out of Time" by R.E.M. The new album was well worth the wait.

Got the new Travis album, to be honest it's a disappointment (and I think having been a fan for six years and followed them from when they were teeny I have a right to at least voice my opinion, lol). Flowers In The Window and Side are amazing, but the tracks to the end of the album - Indefinitely, Afterglow, Humpty Dumpty love song - are almost as drab as C*ntplay. Sad but true.
It's out on June 11th by the way.

Sounds like you have a cool dad Crystal2001, all I got to listen to as a kid was the Andrews Sisters and Nelson Eddy!
Still think 'Life's Rich Pageant' (1986) is REM's best rekid, closely followed by 'Rekoning' (1984). Have'nt really been interested in anything they've done after about 1990.
Geez...the last new album I bought was the Monkees boxed set, I love my manufactured pop - as long as it's got twangy guitars in it and was recorded before 1968.

Lifes Rich Pageant is ok (love Superman), but surely the best R.E.M album is Automatic for The People?

What tha????
Bon Jovi???
I can see your point if you were a 40 year-old house wife.
They must be the most vile 'soundmakers' in the business.
They are everything that is wrong with the music industry, utter stadium rock ****e.
Like the man said SFA are the business!!!
The new Weezer album is brilliant, worth the wait

I've got a short album (about 8 tracks) by Radiohead with those songs on that wasn't bootleg. I can't remember what it's called now and you've made me really p**sed off. I'll have to check when I get home. Palo Alto is a great song.

I know Jaffa, that's what I meant...Amnesiac is allegedly very like Kid A, which I found to be completely dreadful, and Muse have taken over their mantle as far as I'm concerned.
I didn't think Muse's new album had been released yet...where did you hear it?
