View Full Version : The proposed Betting Thread Bash

Thought it was a bit uinfair to trash the Goldmine with speak of this possible event so from now on, all Betting Thread Bash related banter and macho speak goes in here.
As it stands the the week that stands out is the Newcastle away weekend of April 30th. Bank Holiday weekend = mass of people heading to the coast in all seaside towns INC Cleethorpes of course.
Also means the Sunday will be nice and busy for those of you who fancy three nights on the town.
Friday busy, Saturday absolutely heaving.
Nothing written in stone yet so fire away with any other suggestions you may have.

grim, going to be very hard for me to be there that weekend, think i'll be at happy valley in hong kong..following weekend i'll be in london, and the next, but Sat night will definitely be clubbing ...
my visit to clee is likely to be midweek, perhaps Monday for the easy pickings on the tennis.

Shame if you can't make it when everyone's here (if indeed it takes place.)
Surely once you're snorting that crap or munching those pills one club's very much like another, no?

Me too. Have been planning on going to Newcastle since the beginning of the season but will be staying up there as well. One of the best nights out in the country up there :p Well on a par with Manchester or Nottingham.
London being the best obviously :)

I remember being out on January 2nd and being impressed with hopw crowded everywhere was and yet half the night locals and cabbies were apologising for the town being dead.
Christ. the town was buzzing by 7.30 - Croydon only really gets going at 9 on its best nights!
As for Newcastle, there's nothing to stop you joining the Bash on the Sunday. With it being Bank Holiday, Sunday will still be a good day/night.
as for London being the best.

Sounds like great fun, but I don't know just yet for sure if I'll be able to make that date though..

Basically if that date doesn't suit and another one does then we'll go for the other date. Are people adamant that the weekend includes a Palace match? If not then then we can watch it on Sky (if it's on Sky that is) or simply get some beers in and listen to it on the broadband. Not so good as being there but will ensure the betting flow isn't interuppted!!
Good to see 5 people on the case for totty.

I can't see myself venturing that far north for this (especially not that weekend as we are supposed to be going away) but as I have a missus and will be strictly confined to the stands anyway it wont make any difference.

Trying to gauge what sort of numbers we'll get for this event if it takes place.
For max. pulling opportunities then the May day Bank Holiday will see this place overflowing with locals totty and Yorkshire lasses coming down and looking for one thing! ;)
If betting, beers and a lads chitchat is more to your liking then ofg course it can be any time. Pulling opps will still be around butmaybe not as prevelant and Sunday night would be limited opportunity whereas Bank Holiday basically means another Saturday night!
Then again if you'd tie in a Wednesday night (that means time off work though) then I'll take you to the legend that is BAGS BALL.

I'm happy to sit down and learn poker. If anyone wants to take me on at blackjack I'll can play banker.
I'm also up for World Series Snap if you like.
Hmm, liking the idea of turning the whole place into a gamling paradise
Room 2 - poker room
Room 3 - blackjack
Dining Room - punters den for internet betting and Sky Sports
Rooms 1 & 4 - hangover recovery areas
Room 5 & 6 - hire a couple of girls from Nicole's Massage to service you lot in between bets.

OK, maybe Mrs R won't appreciate the debauchery - maybe you lot can pay the £3 to get to Nicole's in a cab.

This is the tricky one.
The bank holiday weekend at the end of April is a good one as you'll get the option of a lively Sunday night here as well. A few Yorkie lasses thrown in with the local totty and even oz would pull (if we were single)
My money's still on stigma to use his nordic charms and get a 2am trip 'under the pier' ;)

Well my Nordic charms haven’t worked at home for a while, so perhaps a change of scenery is the key !:o
My “problem” is that I’m at the moment contemplating going over for the home game against Liverpool on the 23 of April. If I get tickets. This mainly because it’s my 25 birthday on the 24 of April and most of my friends/family support the scousers. Would be great to beat them.. Actually thinking about staying for a few days in Croydon this time around, not just stay in “central” London.

It's all pointing towards the bank holiday weekend at the end of April.
Palace @ Newcastle which isn't too far away although might be hard for us all to get tickets seeing as between around 12 of us we do about 50 matches total a year!!!
Bank Holiday = three busy nights and two busy days i.e. Sat/Sun (Sunday sessions at the seaside are part of british life and this town's no different.)
In amongst drinking/sniffing for totty there will be ample betting opportunities to hammer the broadband with.
So come on lads - are we set for this to be THE date?
Fri April 29th to Monday 1st May
Birthdays, beers, betting and cheers! :lux:

I'll be over for the Southampton match early in May, so looks like I will have to wait for next years annual(?) Betting Thread Bash. :( Bringing a chick as well, so can't really piss off to Clee for the local totty anyway.
Normally I would just take a trip on my own the week before, but can't afford to... I've got Nice in March, London and Rome in May, so it'll be a busy spring. :)
But have fun, and behave yourselves. ;)
