Do we need another forward????
I feel we are lacking a forward to latch on to Carlisle, Blacks and Rodgers crosses being whipped in as we look dangerous from set pieces (when 'Razor' and Fanny had time to get up) But our Forwards never win the ball in the air from those early balls whipped in. Am I right? I think we should bring in a Forward good inn the air to firstly add competition and to add us with the option (and i know that Gray is OK in the air) but a natural out and out headerer. I know we have been rumoured to go for Beattie and Cottie (not and air player at all) but what do you sudjest. Dont say Fanny as we need a replacement of similar standards in Defence 1st which will be almost impossible.
Fanny is class and Tommy Black is Talent through and Through (what a bargain-both of em)
So who do you think we should buy or what do you think we should do??????????

No no, Fan should play at the back coz he is a rock! Another striker is needed though coz Forssell just doesn't cut the mustard. Maybe a tall striker would suit us, coz Morrison has the skills on the ground and a target man would surely be the best option. Brian Deane? Les Ferdinand?

A third forward is needed. Mckenzie as a third striker just hasn't got it. Basically he's useless! There must be someone out there who needs first team football or can be attracted to us now we're paying players!

We need a target man; three seasons on and Neil Shipperley still hasn't been adequately replaced. Bradbury (or was it 'Badbuy') was OK and Svenson gave away too many fouls.
A year's loan for Forssell is right in my mind, because I'm not sure that he's going to become the great player that Ol Big Mouth Santa Look-a-like Ken Bates says he will. He need to be more dominant in the air - he's about 6ft 1" but can only reach 6ft 2" when he jumps!
Morrison needs competition, all to often (as in the QPR game) he does the "sulky boy" routine, and perhaps a more experience head alongside him would help.
Fan can do the job but I agree, is better employed at the back.
Smithy, Jordan; A TARGET MAN PLEASE!

I don't know whether anyone else has noticed but both Black and Pollock have been playing some great final balls through and Morrison and Forssell just don't see what's coming and don't make the runs across defenders.
We need someone bright who will realise what's coming and in that respect, though I hate to say it, Tony Cottee is the man. Until we can locate a younger alternative.
We only need a big man if we're going to continue to lump it forward in the air and I don't think Smith wants to use that tactic (thank God!)

but we still need someone who can win the odd header, not get barged off the ball, hold up play and get oon the end of few crosses. Either Morrison or Forssel would be able to concentrate oon getting into scoring positions if they have someone to play off and players like Black and Gray could join the attack more. I've said already somewhere else that £2m is a bit steep but in th elong run it wuld a great price to bring James Beattie in.

If we're looking at forwards can I make a suggestion or two
Carl Asaba - He's a good div 1 striker and his contract expires at the end of this season. He doesn't want to sign a new contract (trust me on this i have an inside source) so may be available on the cheap. Gillingham will get nothing in the summer.
Marco Negri - He scored a hat-full of goals for rangers before getting injured, and cna't get back in the team has fallen out with the manager, A rangers fan i was talking to (should that be taking the mick out of?) said thathe didn't think rangers would want that big a fee.
We definitely need another forward, unfortunately much as I praised Forsell when he first arrived he still flatters to deceive.
He simply can't play with his back to goal and therefore is unable to hold the ball up. Clinton is deceptively good in the air against much bigger defenders but as we all realise it looks like his strike rate will never be good enough for him to make it at this level.
I'm sure that Smith has realised these obvious flaws and we will soon go in for a big man- after all we have gone after Armstrong at Borough.

It's nothing to do with lumping the ball forward, if you cast your mind back we made use of a lot more than just Shipperley's head. What we need is someone who can get up there with the best of the big burly 1st Division centre-halves and win vital knock downs for the likes of Morrison or Forrsell.
And of course when Smith was in charge last time we never pumped any long balls up to Paul Stewart did we?

I started this debate and am worried that NO-ONE HAS MENTIONED HARRIS. I'm gonna go watch some reserve games to see more but I know he doesnt seem to have a position yet (as the palace scout who discovered Ian Wright from Tooting told me that many players are being tried all over the park for experimental reasons to find their best position) BUT HE IS BIG (Hence winning the ball in the air) and is a threat with his throw which will be like free kicks every time we get a throw in so Razor and Fanny can get up to win the air balls off his throw. WHAT DO YOU LOT TINK?????????????????
I say we give him a chance after telling him what we expect of him (phisical threat headed goals and flick ons and long throws)
Try Harris (as we go on about giving our youth players a chance and have lost so many younsters in the past on the cheap by not giving them a chance)
What do ya think???

Harris is a liability, his throw is goood but he has nothing more to affer.
I like the Asaba and Negri suggestions as i suggested both these palyers to friends in the summer

The very last thing we need is another injury prone player. You can count on your fingers the amount of games Ferdinand has had over the last few years.
