don't mind it being on the telly - but it better not be 1pm!! - I've got it all sorted to come back from paris sunday morning after the france v england game and then go straight up to west brom.
the tickets say 3pm - the train tickets are for a 3pm kick off - as is coach arrival time - i hope sky sports haven't just shoved it in at the last minute http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/frown.gif

Heh, heh - sorry babe - you've got NO chance !! - I can remember having a Palace v England debate with you a while ago - time for you to choose which is more important !! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

And anyway - it's not that much of a journey to get back - you'll just have to get up early for a change won't you !! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

you may have had that debate with me mr russell - but having already got tickets for both the england game and the west brom game - booked eurostar and trains in england to get to the palace game - it's not just a case of choosing which is more important. I'd already turned down one extra free night in Paris to return for the West Brom game.

am already booked on the first eurostar out of paris on sunday morning at 8.07 - it's impossible to get to the hawthorns by train until the end of the match if it kicks off at 1pm - so yes it is that much of a journey.

Unlucky m'dear - the Forest game is postponed due to international call up's - which is why we're now on the box.
You could of course catch the 4am train if you fancied it !!
Palace v England ... I know which wins for me !! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

don't think there is a 4am train - unless they've added an extra one..
gonna have to try and work this one out..

Looking at Skys Live games, I see that our game at the Hawthorns has been switched to Sunday 3rd Sept as they are now showing it live...can anyone confirm this, as I'm sure this wasn't the case originally ?
lightweight
26-08-2000, 04:44 AM
It was moved originally because it is their centenary and it co-incides with that day. Didn't think it was live on sky?
Are Sky doing 2 live nationwide games that day then? I guess as there's no premiership that weekend they've slotted in our game instead?

I believe it has been switched to sunday to avoid a clash with England v France, we are not on the box!

I suggest it serves you right for picking the wrong side in the 'club v. country' dilemma.
Mind I suppose given my location, I'm throwing stones from a Crystal Palace-sized glass house....

Vic - it wasn't a case of club vs country - until Friday it was a case of great I can do both - if they'd have clashed originially Palace would have won... (although Paris vs West Midlands is a tough call!)
I'm still working on - if I can get to the hawthorns - believe me I will!

You've got no chance.
As mentioned - which is more important - seeing Palace or watching Keegan's boring England in a friendly they'll lose ?
I don't see it that way. For me the Club vs Country 'debate' is silly anyway. Personally I would rather be in Paris watching a bloody interesting game against the World/European Champions that go up to a hole in the West Midlands to see what is not exactly a majorly important game.
We are 3 games into the season - were it the final game and a case of relegation if we lose I am sure we would all be at Palace.

Interesting opinion Burr - that makes you in a majority of one ! - I can't remember a single person that voted that way on the original club/country thread from a few months back.
So on the whole you'd rather watch an England game than a Palace one then !? - I can't see how at present, that you'd be able to work up an enthusiasm to see England play, what with the poor state the national side is in.
I mean come on - Neville and Heskey !! - and David James !!! - would you really want to watch them play for our country - is that ALL we can offer ???
I remember a few people who said they would consider England over Palace depending on what type of games both teams were playing. If it is a choice between England in the World Cup final against Brazil or a game against Gillingham which will not affect us been promoted or relegated, it isn't a hard choice for me - England EVERY time.
Like I said - this game is BIG. It is against the World and European champions in Paris. A great day out and we will be the first team to play them since they won the European Championships. The West Brom game on the other hand is so early on in the season that it's importance is diluted. So yes, for THIS game I would much rather see England play in Paris than watch Palace up in Brummyland.

d'ya wanna swap then Burr http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif
seriously - if I don't go and Palace win - I'll be gutted - if I make a huge effort to get back for it and they lose - I'll probably be a bit cheesed off too.
ARGHHH I hate dilemmas like this - especially when they might involve paying out loadsa money!!!
BTW - I have in the past gone to a Palace game over an England game - we lost 1-0! - but I can't remember what the England result was!!!!

Apologies lightweight...that's much more like it.
Speaking for myself, I couldn't care less about the England team. The moronic behaviour of many of my fellow 'supporters' at England matches I have attended put paid to that. I wouldn't even go to watch England if they played in Melbourne.
By and large I agree with you Vic. All I am trying to say is that I personally support both teams. As Palace play a lot more games I have a stronger bond with the team than I do with England, however there are certain times where England can become vitally important to me: championships and big games.
The France game is only a friendly, but given the nature of the opposition I would relish it - much more so than a game against West Brom that doesn't mean anything at the moment. (Were it a vital game vs West Brom, then the England friendly could go to hell).
Someone once asked me what I would want more:
England World Cup win or a Palace FA Cup win
The answer to that would be bloody hard for me and I honestly don't know the answer. It just pisses me off when people suddenly start to bring out cr*p saying that because you support your national team you are not a 'true' supporter of your league side. Total and utter bollo*ks!!
For me supporting England and supporting Palace go hand in hand.

Burr - nice to see someone taking a more reasoned view to all of this!! I have to say that I usually get far more worked up about Palace games than I ever would for an England game - but there are quite a few people that support both club and country.
BTW - thank you to everyone who has been trying to help out with advice on how to get to West brom in time - much appreciated!!! http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/smile.gif

Interesting opinion mate - it's NOT big (and it's not clever so the saying goes http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif) at all - it's a friendly with the same old tired players trotting out for England.
Perfect opportunity once again for Keegan to give the up and coming players a chance and what does he do ?
