View Full Version : Unhappy Players

This is a very annoying thing to happen.
Im now in November of season 3 and back in December 99, I fined Robbie Blake one weeks wages for playing 5 out of ten. Fair enough i thought, but two players (aki and Dougie) were upset by this.
I thought it might go away especially as we were top and Dougie ended up top scorer with 25 goals.
Vet it carried on during the next season even though i came 10th inb the Prem and Dougie was once again top scorer, this time with 32 in all competitions.
Now its got to the point where they both want to leave because, quote "They feel the players are not respected by their manager".
THIS WAS TWO YEARS AGO!!
Anyway, i had to see Aki because he was so upset (he had been voted player of the season for the past two years) to Manure for £11.
Dougie is now playing very poorly, only socre 2 this season in 8, both penaltie.
I fell my team is collapsing around me. What can i do?
Also, any player i transfer list never gets any bids. I have 10 strikers, and i need to off-load some but i get no bids whatsoever.
...and relax!

Have you ever thought of taking up knitting as your hobby? Or perhaps origami? ;)

I was just about to post a similar topic. Now that I've read yours I'm even more concerned than I was before.
I just responded positively to a newspaper report on Barkircioglu (excuse the spelling), then another one came up. I decided not to comment so that he wouldn't become too big headed (it was only about 5 days after the first).
Then I got another report on Richard Harris (who is for some reason playing exceptionally well at the moment). Again I praised him. Straight away I got a transfer offer from Arsenal. I said that I would consider an extra million +Rhys Weston on exchange. Another offer followed upping the price form 3.1million ot 8.75m, but no Weston. I declined.
Suddenly three of my players (including Barkircioglu) are unhappy because I don't support the staff.
We are currently 2nd in the Premiership and I have always been praised before on my relationship with the players. Does this mean that it is all over, and I should expect a gradual slip down the table?
As for the transfers. Sometimes it works if you take the players off the transfer list then put them back on again a couple of days later. It does in CM00/01 anyway.

Hope you got a good CD for him. ;)

Get rid of the bad apples for as much cash as you can straight ASAP before they infect the rest of the team. It is the only way.

Reckon your team ain't mentally tough enough.
You need to take some managerial lessons from an experienced manager to improve your players in this very important area.

see, in some ways, it is ACTUALLY a management sim....
u fined a player for playing below average.... harsh, and the temperamental players are unlikely to forget their manager can be overly-harsh
u have too many strikers, so some will not have played in ages, so who will buy them?! anyway, their "value" is almost certainly not gonna be his MARKET value.... u will probably need to lower what u are gonna sell him for.... i often put players' values down to £0 if i have no use for them and they have a 2/3 yr contract left, just in the hope that someone will take his contract off me

Have you tried changing the status of your transfer-listed players to "Not needed by club"?

I found last night with Roberto Bonano (GK) of River Plate that he was costing me points.. like fumbling shots on 92 mins when i am winning 2-1... 2-2 FT score. Happened too many times. He conceded 5 in one half. I am River Plate, should be challenging for the honours, but oh no... 13th out of 20 teams. But i won the Copa Libertadores... how can that be right?! Crap in the league but superb against South Americas best??
Anyway, he scored a 3 rating on one game, so i fined him. He then said he was treated unfairly, but would play better... followed it up with a 3-0 defeat to the bottom team. So i got very annoyed, fined him again and reserved him.. hehehe i then sold him.
How can he complain with a fine when he has conceded 5 in one half and rated at 3!!!!!!!

that does sound weird dan!! in my experience you can almost always fine them if they get a 4!

About the only things I ever fine players for is getting sent off or if they are mentioned twice by my coaches for lack of fitness. I have only once had unhappy players and that was when a new signing got taken off for playing badly in about his tenth game. A bunch of other playerrs got upset with his attitude, so I cut his price in half and sold him instantly. Everyone was happy again. I always praise players no matter what and I often cave in on wage and transfer demands. End result -- this season I went my first 24 games with two draws and the rest wins and I've got a team of 22 first team players, any one of whom is way too good to even have considered Palace when I took over. I am as soft as a jam sandwich but everyone wants to play at Selhurst. Yay.
