View Full Version : Free tickets ...

BIG LETTER!

I know we have discussed this at the beginning of the season with the Bromley Council stuff, but ...

I am a former employee of the Lambeth Building Society, sponsors of the youth academy. Simon Jordan has given LBS 400 free tix for the Grimsby game at home at the end of October. Now fair enough, there will be plenty of spaces at that game, especially as its a Tuesday evening, but speaking to people at the old place, I can't find anybody who wants to go (despite my offer of meeting them for a drink beforehand!). I think the free tickets is a good idea in principle, but shouldn't they be targeted at people who might want to come to Palace in the first place. You're not going to convert anybody if they don't come to the games. Has Jordan got it wrong?

(BTW the Lambeth employee memo says that they are "official suppliers" to the academy. Of what?)

Try offering them a ticket before offering them a piss up with your good self. When they accept the ticket do not ask them for a piss up. I think they'll use the tickets this way. Only joking http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/wink.gif

Nah, but good point. Jordan needs to give the tickets to people who aren't gonna waste them. Number one priority kids and their mates.

Wouldn't it be better to offer them to the local schools?

Then kids would ask their parents to take them and I'm sure a few would come back, then again maybe not.

Kids are a good idea.

I was speaking to a lapsed supporter today, who a few seasons ago, went quite often. He went on a free ticket against Sheffield United and saw so much kick and rush (no where) that he considered the free ticket a waste 'of money'. I found this difficult to argue against, as to his comment that all footballers are so overpaid and lazy that the Olympics were so refreshing. What a treat to watch dedicated sportsman. (I had already thought that).

What about that Strip4Shelter or the CPFRIS Christmas Party charity. If they give tickets to that cause, then money could be collected with the sale. A minimum donation of a fiver, would get you a ticket, and give money to a really good cause. 5 x 400 = 2000 , that would be worthwhile, instead of giving them to companies who don't give a flying fouk about the Palace.
