I was called 'Worried'

Is it just me and Sydney eagle, or can everyone else not get MSN messenger working? Its deleted sydneys contact list and is not responding, and for me its just not responding anyway.
Anyone else with the same problem?
Its been down nearly all day. Nothing about a fault on the MSN page though :(

Mine hasn't been logging on since i got home.. it is annoying. I liked having the notifications of new e-mails :(

It has now been since 2pm... 9 hours... without MSN. I had to actually talk to people today instead of messaging them, do you know how traumatic that is!!!
Luckily i filled up on phone credit, i can message my heart out for 5p a go! Phew.

My list has gone! 55 f*cking names all gone! Some of them are people that I can only get to speak to through MSN messenger. This f*cking thing has gone too far, EVERYONE get AOL messenger, its MILES better.
Most of the e-mails I cant remember either, *******s.

Luckily I mostly use Yahoo Messenger.
Unluckily I can't use Yahoo Messenger at work.

"update Microsoft on Thursday continued to search for the cause of sporadic access problems and disappearing "buddy lists" affecting its MSN Messenger service.
E-mail sent to CNET News.com from MSN members indicates that a sporadic outage started on Tuesday that could be linked to Microsoft's Passport authentication system.
Beginning on Tuesday, many MSN Messenger users said they found that their "buddy lists" of friends on the MSN Messenger service had been wiped clean and that they could not keep constant connections to the service.
A Microsoft representative said the company is aware of the problem but has not identified the cause. The problem appears to be widespread, with MSN Messenger users in the United States and as far away as Korea, Singapore and Chile reporting failed connections or missing buddy lists.
MSN Messenger uses Passport to log in to the service. Passport accounts are tied to an existing e-mail address. Informal testing conducted by CNET News.com found that some Passport accounts using e-mail addresses ending in non-Microsoft domains had lost their buddy lists. Other MSN Messenger accounts using Microsoft domains, such as msn.com, continued to function normally.
Some Hotmail users, such as Kevin Benson, Network/PC Support manager for South Carolina Parks, Recreation, also reported problems and missing buddy lists. Benson said MSN Messenger would not retain new buddies added to the list. "When I add a user which requested to be added to my buddy lists, it added until I logged off and on again," he said. "The added user is now gone again."
Daniel Darnell, a MSN Messenger user from Virginia, said he experienced login problems through Wednesday before signing back on to the service around 5 p.m. PDT.
"But my entire buddy list was deleted and I am supposed to have 14 buddies on my list," he said. "Before I went to bed I managed to add one of my buddies back and this morning when I came on about (6 a.m. PDT) he was gone."
MSN Messenger user Brad Taylor, from New York, said he "tried several times throughout the day" on Wednesday to connect to the service without success. He did, however, receive an e-mail in response to a technical support request placed with Microsoft.
"Recently, we encountered a technical problem that affected a small number of users on the specific system that contains your account; the problem affects the information that allows you to sign in to the MSN Messenger Service," the e-mail states. "I apologize for this unusually lengthy period of downtime, and assure you that we are trying to restore sign-in availability as soon as possible."
A Microsoft representative said: "We are aware users are currently experiencing delays logging into MSN Messenger, missing their buddy lists or are not able to log in to the service." The representative said the company has not identified the source of the problem but is "working quickly to identify it." "
Aaaaaa - This is pissing me off! We better get our list back!

Re-sign up with a '@msn.com' address - and it remembers your contacts and works everytime! yay!

"The majority of MSN Messenger customers worldwide are unaffected."
Lefko said that while some users could still log in to the service, they would not be able to view their buddy lists. She emphasized, however, that those lists have not been lost. "When the issue is resolved, customers' personal buddy lists will be restored," she said. "There is no need for users to take any action to restore their personal buddy lists."

Well, most people agree that MSN Messenger is the worst of all the IMs around (ICQ, AOL, and Yahoo are miles better). The only way to explain why so many people use it must be the "subliminal messages" that aledgedly appear in Windoze and other MS products.

2can, exactly. MSN is quite hard to get out of your system if you have Windows, install Internet Explorer, Outlook, Office, or Outlook Express all of which can then install it or link to it in such a manner without you realising that it might as well be on your system already. Its design/programming is fvcking annoying.
Having used all of those IM programs frequently, I am not particularly impressed with any - IRC beats them all hands down, when you know what you're doing.

Problem is that many IRC servers have banned all BTInternet IP addresses due to abuse so I can't use them.

Microsoft is still working to restore its Instant Messenger service after three days of problems.
The company says about a third of its customers worldwide are experiencing service interruptions.
A Microsoft spokeswoman said engineers are still working on the problem and are unable to say when it will be resolved.
The spokeswoman said: "At the moment we are still working on it. It's a hardware issue and engineers can't give a specific time of when it will be resolved."
Microsoft Vice President Rich Bray has apologised to customers for the interruptions.
He said: "An extremely rare set of circumstances occurred when one of our database servers had a disk controller fail.
"The backup for this controller also had an error, which resulted in a more lengthy path to recovery. We are working as quickly as possible to restore service to all MSN Messenger customers."
He assured users their buddy contact lists have not been lost.

The reason i use MSN Messenger is because it is on the school computers. ICQ is not and they won't allow you to download onto their system.
As it is on the school computers many people from school have it and use it from home too.
I like the little pictures and wish that ICQ would have them, but MSN is pretty poor overall.

I use it because most people I know also do, despite me trying to get them to use AOL messenger.
Its working for me and my '@msn.com' address now, but only for 2 of my friends so far.
