for some reason several of these threads have been closed, jamie w started one and i started the other, it seems sad that in this day and age when we are desperate to compete with bigger clubs that we discourage competition amongst supporters.
If we had the same situation as most bigger clubs we would have to earn the right to attend high profile games.
Unfortunataly we are all judged the same dispite the fact some of us make give more to the cause others insist on taking more.
anyway to the point
gillingham tickets went on sale last night to season ticketholders, 1 per season ticket.
10.000 season tickets and only 800 tickets for a local derby and no priorities for the normal people who normally go,
sums up palace to me?

Jose, you were at the away travel desk for ages last night - surely you've got your ticket already?

I think the point that Jose is making is a valid one. There are 800 tickets on sale for the Gillingham game. There may well be some people who don't go to any other away games this season - but will go to that one - and thereby prevent someone who may have made the midweek fixtures at cardiff, burnley etc from going. THere should be some reward for loyalty. When I didn't go to away games I would have said the same thing - so it's not just because it would benefit me now.

Its ironic that people were talking about those that biggin themselves up for going to all the away games yesterday and now this happens.

So here's my go.

I am a student living in Brighton and therefore have to spend an extra £15 on travel for any game home or away. From New Year til the end of last season the only games I missed were at Forest and Grimsby. Some weeks I lived off baked beans so that I would be able to travel to the other end of the country, on other occassions I would come out of a night club at 6 in the morining and start my mission to wherever we would be playing on no sleep. Now due to the poxy government refusing to fund me anymore I can't make as many of the away games as I wanted. So tell me does a couple of months all of a sudden make me less worthy of going to Gillingham??

of course I've got my tickets although there in the post so to speak because i payed by card.I was not thinking of just myself but of others who may not have the time to go and get these tickets as soon as they go on sale, should these people miss out just because they can't get to the club to buy the popular tickets dispite the fact they go to the less attractive fixtures.
what about that guy from leeds who goes all the games, it would be unfair on him if he missed out due to not being able to get to the tickets before the vultures.

Fair play, but let's face it, there are no more than 150 "go-everywhere" regulars and there are 800 tickets. Those regulars will have sussed out that tickets for this game would be in demand and therefore should be quickest off the blocks.

In an ideal world we'd have away season tickets like West Ham & Ipswich. Sadly with a hardcore of those numbers, it really doesn't make sense for the club to go to the considerable expense of organising a fairer distribution system when there are enough to satisfy all the regulars five times over.

The bigger question we should be addressing is why have we only been given 800? The capacity of Gills away end is listed as 1100. I sincerely hope that 300 haven't been set aside as player/staff comps.

Jose, this seaon I've been to all the home games but only Norwich and Fulham away.

I've bought my Gillingham ticket and I also bought one for a mate who has been to over 75 grounds with Palace over the last 30 years but who doesn't go away very often any more.

Do we qualify as vultures?

I haven't been to any games this season because I can't be bothered, although I quite fancied a traditional game on boxing day so I booked my Gillingham away ticket this morning. Got through on the line straight away and my ticket's in the post. Does this qualify me as carrion?

Well done Vern. First come first served.

If somebody has enough time to visit Cardiff on a tuesday night they should be the first to make way for those who want to see Palace away from Selhurst but cannot make it due to laziness.

No, just honest.

I spoke to the box office and they didn't seem to know how many we had, they just said the entire terrace.

Sorry vultures was the wrong word,
My only hope is that someone who goes normally does not miss out.

Typical Palace - getting it all wrong again !!

You don't get the entire terrace at Gillingham - just the side and one bit on the corner to the left of the goal !

Erm I have got a job as well for 20 hours a week as well as the hours I do in college. I am also not one of the rich students that get everything paid for by mummy and daddy and also by Tony Blair. I also have a major disliking for these people. So don't try putting me in this bracket with crap comments like that.

I was simply making a point about the fact of why I now can't go to as many away games as I could last season so why should I get penalised for missing a couple of recent games. There was never meant to be a hint of complaint about anything else.

All I'll add is that if I couldn't manage to get a ticket for Gillingham I would be just a tad annoyed.

Fair comment ?

Please note that there will almost certainly be NO TRAINS running on Boxing Day so you will have to make your own way to Gillingham.

I have a mate who is a Gills season ticket holder. He's getting me and the brother in at the Gills end. May be able to get a few extras in Gills end, but I will only help out people who can be trusted to behave and not upset the home fans (i.e. not jump about if/when we score).

There was an error in Ray CPFRIS bulletin. The Gills tickets do NOT go on General Sale tomorrow. They are on sale to Season Ticket holders only until Nov 17th and then any that are left (which is very, very doubtful) will be sold to Club Members.

l do the reverse journey Gillingham to Palace
it takes me roughly l 1/2 hours by car,.
If you do decide to drive here parking can sometimes be a problem as the streets around the ground are coned off.If anyone would like to know where to park around the area and how to get to ground from there let me know,l`m sure we can help.As for going in with the Gillingham fans and it turns out to be the Rainham end just be careful.

There's no "almost" about it. There's definitely no trains running down this way from London on Boxing day. So unfortunately all of you who don't have access to cars or the official coaches are going to be well and truly stuffed. Sorry.

well you could bike it, or come by river, or perhaps National Express is running some sort of service?

rashid

Just checked the National Express site. There are coaches on Boxing day but the first one out via Stockwell and Victoria coach station is not scheduled to get to Gillingham until 2.20. The drop off point is three miles from the ground! Presume kick off is 1pm?

A good point well made Walderslade. I've been to every game this season bar Cardiff and Preston away (good choices by all accounts) but don't have a season ticket.

If I can't get to Gillingham I'll be totally gutted.

The tickets should be available on a first-come-first-served basis regardless of whether you have a season ticket. As Neil says, anyone who goes to most/all away games will be savvy enough to get in quick.

Gaffer,
One question, why no season ticket?
If you go to all the games surely it makes sense to buy one for monetary savings if nothing else?

Good luck anyway. Perhaps a last resort could be to appeal to any season ticket holders who are not going to buy one on your behalf?

arussell

As mentioned elsewhere - they do seem to be selling you more than one ticket if you ask.

I believe there were about 300 or so left on Saturday.

Already got mine. Looked as though it could be a bit bloody cold looking at the Forest game this weekend (standing and no roof). Will require a "serious" amount of singing to generate any atmosphere and warmth!! Then again it is Boxing day.....

I've got my ticket but mighty peeved to find out that Golden Eagles does not count in the same classification as a season ticket. I agree it shouldn't get you an extra ticket but for those who are Golden Eagles but not season ticket holders this is a big slap in the face. I no of one person who has been to every away game this year exept Burnley, ia a Goldern Eagles member but doesn't have a s/t. The box office said tough.

Where is the fairness?
