View Full Version : We have inquired about the availability of...
Lee Bowyer...
it seems Charlton are the only other club interested in his services, although they have come up with nothing concrete. Wages will be a problem but he is available for around £2m... I doubt very much we will aquire his talents, but its worth letting you know...

ID does like to incorporate boxing into training.
Maybe it's going to be pre-season training that each player gets to beat the crap out of Bowyer for five minutes in the ring.
If he's coming back then all the MacDonald's will start closing earlier.

Well my source ;) (my dry cleaner) tells me he has just bought a property in North Finchley which he is planning to turn into an over-25's nightclub.
Of course that doesn't mean a return to London is on the cards but Lee Bowyer as nightclub owner amused me as possibly the most inappropriate career move ever. Maybe he's fed up of going out looking for asians to give a kicking to, now he's getting them to come to him. Much less hassle.

Personally i'd love to sign him. He's better than anybody we currently have in the middle of midfield and is proven quality in the Premiership.
However, the chances of us being able to a) afford his wages and b) afford his transfer fee are just about nil.

We have had long debates on Bowyer before last season and I was one of the minority who thought he would be good for Palace as he has good football ability. My fellow BBS users helped me change my mind and they are right. There is more to life than just football and Bowyer is a low life we can do without. I dont care how good he is and there is no doubt he is better than any of our midfield.
As you say the chances are nil anyway.
Bowyer, whilst undoubtedly a cut above anything we currently have at Palace, is a nasty piece of work and I believe would be a hugely disrupting influence in the dressing room. I'd really rather not see this happen.

Actually, i've never suggested Newcastle would buy AJ, because at the time of inquiry he was deemed too expensive. I gave you details of his contract, with clauses implemented. Whether this is true we are yet to find out, but if you have some spare money lying about, put it all on Alan Pardew to be sacked - whatever the outcome of the Play-Off Final, and Gordon Strachan to take charge...

Think you could be correct AJ8 about AJ I remember Souness saying after the recent game that he thought AJ was a good player but needed another season in the top leaque to be prove he is up with the best.Dont agree personally or maybe he is bullshiting. Now we are talking 8 million that could be too rich for them.
You could be right about Pardew as well, I hope you are wrong as there will be a hell of a lot of speculation about ID going there even if Strachan gets the job. The West Ham fans would want Dowie.

Doubt we could afford him or whether he would want to drop down to the CCC. If we want a competitive midfielder then I would rather we went for Sidwell at Reading. Ipswich were reportedly interested if they went up and both Southampton and Norwich if they stayed up, neither have happened so there may well be an opportunity.

I would go as far as to say that I would cut up my season ticket (when I receive it) if this poisonous racist thug ever came near our football club. Personally, I would smack him if I ever saw him in person. Scum like that should be driven out of the game. He will be out of Newcastle within 3 weeks, he has bought a house down here (Sevenoaks) a month ago and I know he is living in it now (on holiday from football) whether he comes to us or charlton is unknown.
I dont know of many other southern clubs that may be in for him, would have said Pompey if Harry n Jim were around, I doubt Southampton.

good player - i dont think anyone would dis agree about that. but everything else - he would disrupt the squad, have a lot of other baggage, keep well away - dont disrupt dowie's style
surely he'd fit in better at Millwall? They'd welcome him with open arms and make him club captain!
Seriously though, if it is true then I could only see it if he was used as a makeweight for AJ to go the other way - neither of which I see happening.
