This isnt suprising news as the bid from west brom for AJ is shockingly under what we would expect people to be bidding for him.

The fact that he said ''like f*ck am I'' instead of a plain ''NO'' suggests that he really doesnt want a move to them at all, which doesnt surprise me!

:)

I think AJ had to win it....21 goals in his first year in the premiership!

Myself personally, I voted for Kiraly because not only has he been superb in goal for us but he has also entertained me with his aintics on the pitch because he's a character, something that is rare in football these days.

I also have a signed shirt from Gabor himself saying ''To Ryan From Gabor Kiraly'' with his name and number on the back. (Avatar)

Hope he stays, as does AJ!

Ye it was a great night out, met lots of BBSers and took lots of photos. Shame alot of the players left pretty early after the awards had been given out. You could feel the underlying tone of relelgation. Or as the Vent shouted out 'Why o why did Palace have to get relegated' in an Italian accent.

Also hits home how much of a business football has become. We the fans idolise these players but in the end they're in it for themselves only and it's rare that players feel for the club. Am more sympathetic to Jordan now, it really is a no win situation owning a football club from a business perspective.

With the rumours I heard:
Kiraly looks like he's off, had offers from 2 Premiership clubs and German sides. Although he likes the club.
Ventola really wants to stay, such a friendly guy and stayed the longest than any other player. I was quite impressed. Heard that 2 Italian sides have been intrested in him but he's gonna talk to Bob on 2nd June.
Powell in 'contract talks', though it looks like he's gonna leave.
Dougie might get a new contract, 1 year, we'll see.
Afraid AJ is gonna leave, wearing all black tonight and made a rapid exit. ='( I will be amazed if he is playing for us next season.
Aki he is a great guy, a true gent.
Routledge was stunned by how many people wished him well. Yes tonight showed he really is a confused kid. Everyone wished well wherever he went and was really taken a back. Even Ryan Hall wanted a photo with him!
Apparently we're in talks with a Premiership striker, I can't say who it is (Rob said not to tell anyone) but don't get your hopes too high...
Torghelle wants to stay...
Dowie wasn't there disappointed alot of people but wherever he may be I hope he's doing well.
The night was very professionally done, food was good and the comapny was great. Top, top night out. Well done Jordan.
Met Ruskin Old Boy, Ricardo, Kirby, Lauren, AndyStreet, Brighton Eagle, RDS, Trilby, Ammiller (top top bloke), AJ, BenZhiyi. All top people.

Also had a moment for all the Palace fans who are scattered across the world and rely on the BBS for everything. My heart really goes out to you.

We need to look beyond this one player makes or breaks the club mentality. yes, he is a great asset but if he does go and we get loads of wedge for him it can only be a good thing in the long run. Either way, in the summer we should be looking to build a team that has more quality and creativity in midfield - players that can make and score a few themselves rather than relying so heavily on just one player to come up with the goods all the time.

AJ in leaving Palace shock.

Well done fellow Palace fans for opening your eyes up.

If anyone thinks a player of AJ class is going to slum it around the Nationwide at the likes of the New Den and own our cesspit stadium when he could walk into any side in the Premiership out of the top three they must have issues.

What a depressing thread. So according to many, AJ has turned up to this event in a foul mood and virtually signalling he has no intention of staying. Oh well, If AJ was this down and grumpy, he can leave. AJ is not CPFC, he is only a small part. Lets get the £5 million or whatever price is available, as AJ has gone down in my estimations if he was this bad last night.

Actually, I bumped into him in the bogs too. Well, I didn't 'bump into him', I was at the urination station, looked to my left, and there he was beavering away next to me. If I had literally 'bumped into him', it would have been a very awkward moment. But I didn't speak to him.

He did call Ben Watson 'ginge' though.

I don't think he refused to give an interview, but I'm not sure. The problem that AJ has is that no matter what he says, especially about speculation, people will always find a way of turning it round to suit their own means. By that, I mean the media and fans.

If AJ says he stays, then there's a big offer, and he chooses to leave, he gets criticism. If he decides to go, fans will no doubt end up begrudging him it. So its better not to put yourself in that situation by saying nothing at all.

Also, he left early, and I don't think I can blame him. Judging by the way that Palace's squad players got mobbed, he wouldn't have been able to move for hours. He's a human being and deserves as much peace as any other person.

Who is going to begrudge AJ moving? He has done far more for Palace, than we have for him.

Even if he moved to...Chelscum...I wouldnt begrudge him. Any honest Palace fan would admit a player of class should be playing Premiership football for the sake of his career.

Suspicious? I'd say the term 'wary' is more appropriate, especially after the tabloids ran those photos of him on a night out. It's hard to blame him for having that attitude.

Plus I imagine he's still miserable after last weekend.

A great night was had by all!

I really enjoyed it, it wasn't as good as last year, but that could be expected as the mood was subdued following our relegation.

I have to say, the foreign players seemed alot more fun than those from our shores. Ventola was talkative and really funny, Aki was a real gentleman and enjoyed mingling with the fans, and both Sandor and Gabor were happy to talk to anyone and everyone.

On the awards side, Bostock was a 13 year old who's apparently scored quite a few goals. However, I wasn't too impressed by the Croydon Advertiser sports editor trying to tap his dad up about his son signing for a bigger side...

Other than that, Hughes was the first player to ever win the VP's twice in a row, he seemed happy to have received it and looked eager for next season.

AJ winning his award was no suprise, and he deserved it. Soares seemed extatic about winning the young players award, he was really chuffed.

Ryan Hall says he wants to play for the first team next season...again, he can't wait to get started.

On the transfer front...

I spoke to Gabor and he said he has a number of offers from Premiership sides on the table, but he feels extremely comfortable at Palace, he gets on with the whole squad.

Ventola has had offers from Serie A and Primera Liga teams, so he's got alot of thinking to do. A meeting with Bob Dowie on the 2nd of June will be the decider I would guess, again, he doesn't want to leave as he really loves the people at the club.

Wayne seemed a bit irked when I said he was going to Spurs :D I told him that whatever he does, we appreciate what he's done for us. It seems certain that he'll go though.

We are trying to sign some players. Kit seemed positive that things will go well with all the negotiations we are having.

Contract negotiations are supposed to be commencing with Dougie and Darren Powell in the next few weeks. Darren seems adamant that his future lies elsewhere, and it seems that Dougie will get a year long deal. Whether he signs it is up to him though.

Yes that could well be the case but I was hardly likely to be a reporter where I met him. I actually thought that at the time but the other players are more open than him, I just think maybe he is somewhat withdrawn.

Aj has already said that he is no big time charlie and wants to stay but time will tell! He is more than likely still hurt after relagation which will be made much worse by media and fans asking that same question over and over again!

I for one will not hold it against him if he decides to go! I think i will always love him!

Without wishing to be rude, the speculation about who we're signing is just that, speculation. I don't think Zonin has the right player, from what I've heard its someone else, and I was speaking to Bob Dowie about it.

Eaglesmad123
22-05-2005, 12:24 PM
The player in questions is probably Clinton. With regards the AJ story i have no problems with him wanting to go as he has to think about his career and england prospects. Palace is more than just AJ.

AJ dosnt owe palace anything.

When he was at birmingham and in particular when playing in the league cup you could see he was going to be a special player.

Dillenger
22-05-2005, 12:33 PM
clinton would look a bit of a dick signing for us after he's publicly said he wouldnt, plus if he's going anywhere it'll be sunderland. would be great to sign bent, but cant see it happening - kevin campbell, hmm.

Palace Ultra

Second time I've spoken to AJ - the first time was at last year's dinner dance and on both occasions he has come across in the same light; slightly regal verging on arrogance. i think that's just his demeanour.

I asked him if he was going to West Brom
"Am I f*ck"
I then asked if Liverpool came in would he go there.
His answer was a bit round the houses but he was essentially saying Yes.

And if it was a choice between Liverpool and Newcastle he's go to Liverpool.

Said he flies out on Tuesday for England.

Hughesy's a top guy - really looking forward to next season and appreciates the support he gets.

In a surreal moment, Ventola seemed to take responsibility for relegation on his shoulders saying unprompted: "I am so sorry - I tried but it was not enough"

Aki, as ever, was a gent, happy to chat and have pics taken.

Food was appalling - the chicken was so leathery it could have been cooked two weeks ago. And I think they must use the same staff for serving as they do for the bars on a saturday - our 'wine waiter' brought over a two thirds full bottle of wine and another one with the cork snapped off.

Did not know you were there zonin2000.. Why did you not introduce yourself?

Wayne confirmed who his agent is (even though his "friend" that was posting a while ago said this wasn't the case - heard it from the horses mouth now though). He is leaving, but we all knew that anyhow; he was trying not to give too much away, didn't seem that happy to be there, but still stayed longer than most of the other players.

It's looking like AJ could be off. Sven has told him in the past week that if he stays in the Championship, he won't be picked for anything other than friendly matches. SJ has put a 10m price tag on his head - he won't sell for anything lower than that.

The video at the start made me chuckle - I would not be suprised if James moaned about it being very egotistical of Jordan to play a video all about what he has achieved and how far the club have come in the past 5 years.

Iain wasn't there, but there is no grand reason why not - he wanted to spend time with his family, and who can blame him.

It was a good night, but not as good as last year - I think the fact that I wasn't drinking this year, whereas last year I got hammered could be the reason also.

NO1FAN paid 1,600 for a framed England shirt with AJ's sig - he was bidded up by about 600 by someone on the same table (BaldEagle?).

Overall nice to see some new and old faces - appologises to Marc who introduced himself but I was in a bit of a funny state of mind at the time and I didn't respond very well :(

Some interesting points regarding AJ. Those would of course conflict with SGE's public comments recently that AJ's championship status now won't affect him being picked.

10 million is about what I'd expect SJ to demand for him and there is no way that any club will pay that for him. Unless AJ pre-empts proceedings by handing in a transfer request (can he realistically do this without losing some face, after what he said recently about wanting to stay?) then I don't think he will leave.

The next couple of months will be very interesting, thats for sure.

Lets be honest here about AJ, he wont get infront of Owen and Rooney. The best he can hope for is to be in the England squad and infront of Defoe, if one of these gets injured. So how much damage will it do to him to stay with us, missing out on a two week trip to Germany next summer to watch some England matches.

I personally agree with this, Sven has his forst choice strike force and with all due respect to AJ, from a national perspective he is at best fourth choice behind Owen, Rooney and Defoe.

There were two girls on my table who had no idea at all who any of the players were - they had never watched Palace before, but were asking which our of the players were married.

They were quite fit too - didn't believe I was a player though

At the risk of getting shot down what does VP's Player of the Year stand for. I know I am going to regret asking but I just cannot work it out.

Vice Presidents'.

There are about 80 of them. After each game they vote for a Man of the Match. I think the Player of the Year is the one with the most MOM awards.

Just thought I would add my takings from the night. We followed Aj out as we wanted a snap, he looked like he was getting a right ear bashing from the misses and he didnt look too impressed that she was showing him up in front of everyone. He finally got stalled and so we jumped in for our photos, his reply was " Course but please hurry up or I am going to get a bollocking!!!" Under the thumb I think you may find is why he seemed so miserable...............

I also spoke at great lenghts to Bob Dowie, who said
1) AJ got 4 years left on contract and the only way he will go is if Newcastle/Liverpool offer 12-16 mill for him
2) Morrison is desperate to come back..........he then told me to go up and see Bruce and get him signed!
Unfortunately his wife then grabbed him as I think she may have thought i was hitting on to him...... not my type I thought ;)

I'd like to apologise to the Chelsea fan I drunkenly abused, to my friends for nearly getting them into a fight with said Chelsea fan, Anthony Danze for thinking he was Ventola (don't ask me how) and Tommy Black, Mikele and Soares for talking rubbish to them.

Stop right there.

There is nothing wrong with drunkely abusing Chelscum "fans". Just on Friday night I enjoyed some Anti-Chelsea songs in Croydon at 2 in the morning.

There is nothing to be ashamed of.

I stumbled out and got my taxi back to Redhill, went to meet some mates in the embassy but got turned away as I tripped on 3 stairs on the way in! Had to walk home and had a conversation enroute with someone I didn't recognise but they knew a scary amount of information all about me, told me my name, my date of birth and all about where I work. Would like to find out who it was!

May I also say what a pleasure it was to meet new BBSers (well, ones I'd never met before)...these include Sprite, PalaceMonkey, Ponypunter, Maz, mattgood and a few others.

We had a really good time, and the BBS provided a great bit of atmosphere to what could have been a depressing event. :lux:

Mixing with a bunch of drunks who are all going to give him their ten cents worth. Either how wonderful he is, or what a •••••• he is! Any answer he may give on any subject is going to be held against him, and be dissected on here or HOL. He cannot drink too much, or at the same time be seen as a prude. I say Kudos to him for being there.
