If you know what you're doing, its worth keeping an eye on the Dell outlet website. There's usually not that much going (not that massive a reduction), buit every now and then, there's a ridiculous bargain :)

Not sure I would buy a dell laptop - I had a nightmare with mine.

I'm going to buy a cheap acer - sub 400 with wifi and 512mb of ram - that'll do me

I've fot a Dell Inspiron 1100 and it's done 40,000 posts without a hitch so I'm well happy with it, and it didn't cost me a bean...

My ex-girlfriend had one for donkeys. Make sure you don't get one with hot keys down the front of the computer. You find yourself nudging them all the time as you type and it makes you scream with anger when it starts playing a DVD for the 261788th time when you're trying to type an e-mail.

I have a Dell 8100. It cost me a grand and a half at the time I bought it (almost 4 years ago!) and its lasted brilliantly. Its still got a competetive processor when compared to current machines, at 1.6Ghz, the only downer is the lack of memory (256mb just isn't enough).

Dell 9200 from the outlet store, very happy with it.

Plays HL2 no problem and is great round the house when the server is sharing all the music via iTunes. Am getting quite into MACs these days, might have to buy one soon....
