Having a long day's work today and have been getting into a bit of classical music and opera, which is great to work to :)
I've enjoyed the Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliette and Carmen so far:
What else is good? I'll be here a long time today and need to download some more stuff

Because Capital is so dire, I have been shaving and showering to the airs of Classic FM for several months now. Nice and relaxed.
Going to the Last Night of the Proms at Palace Park on the 26th August as well. Lovely. :)

Just listened to Maria Callas singing Madame Butterfly (expanding my repetoire to oera now!); can you sing along to that for me? :)

I am a real ignoramus when it comes to the Classics but I have recently bought the Marie Callas 'Greatest Hits' so to speak on cassette and it is good.
Have to admit to liking Mozart, a bit of your Chopin, in fact anything with the Piano as the main instrument. I want to like Wagner given that he is a favourite of one of my all time hero's in life but I find him a bit to OTT.
Opera is also something that I would like to explore a lot more but there seems no real point to start out so if anybody could recommend a book or a web site it would be appreciated.

But one of your all-time hero's never went too far? ;)

Capital seem to have worked out a different song to follow each advert. So, after an advert, you always know whats coming?
My Dad listens to Classic FM and I have to admit, it's (some of it) pretty good to listen to whilst driving fast thought the countryside.:)

I like a bit of Mozart's Requiem, myself, even if he didn't write all of it.
The Marriage of Figaro is also tops, although I wouldn't advise going to see it if you've never been to an opera before. It's 4 hours long, so not good for your piles.

But not quite as Oh dear has listening to pre release Robbie, Heresy, Steps etc. etc. songs. Guaranteed to get to No 1 a week before anybody actually buys them. Utter sh 1te. :grrr:
Try Classic FM mate, it calms me down and gawd do I need it.
You might try Schubert's Unfinished Symphony (Smurphs incidental music!) or Mendellsohn's Italian Symphony. Mozart's Requiem is great, but I've always preferred Faure's.
