I wonder if Real Madrid will match the offer and whether Liverpool can afford to reject the offer.

Would be a new British record as well.

Source?

If so I believe it will go through.

32m.

Sorry, I think this is quite ridiculous.

No, I don't want to open up the whole "Money has destroyed the beautiful game" debate.

I simply believe that things have got out of control.

Yes, I know it's not a world record.

It is in all the papers tomorrow ( today now ) and on Sky Sports News just now.

32million would give Liverpool a very nice position to be in for strengthening their squad.

Think the price for AJ just went up again ;)

Lets say 17million :D

How much did Live 8 make for Africa.

Chelsea, no class no conscience.

Bullshit - Africa has nothing to do with this. Abramovich already gives a lot to Charity every year.

To be honest, I don't get all the fuss about Gerrard. He's good, but subject to erratic form.

to be honest I think he'll be worth every penny...the man dragged Liverpool through last season. There aren't many players who could do that. Would love to see his partnership with Lampard develop too...would be great if they could play together before the world cup

It'll be a good move for both Liverpool FC and Gerrard. The fans will hate it though, so the ensuing blame-game should be interesting, both will try and make it sound like they did everything they could. I'm sure that was the purpose of Benitez's press conference yesterday, he just wanted to make it sound like Gerrard was nuts for leaving. Let's face it, under normal circumstances you would never say that a player will succeed you as manager; he knew Gerrard would be gone in a few days.

Chelsea are cheapskates:

According to newspaper reports, Gerrard currently earns 60,000 per week at Anfield. It is claimed Real will pay him up to 130,000 per week, with Chelsea going no higher than 90,000.

Real Madrid won't match that. It's too much money.

Don't know what to think really - other than it's pointless being in the Premiership any more.

Which of course we aren't.

Liverpool have rejected the bid anyway. I wonder what they're holding out for. 35m?

32m is just silly money, Liverpool can't realistically turn it down, Chelsea may as well just offer 1bn

Sorry?

32m for a football player and 18m for another in SWP. 50m for the services of two second tier world football stars when people are dying of hunger in the world.

Perhaps Chelsea could have waited a week before throwing million about.

Oh and answer my question, how much did Live 8 raise and tell me whether Liverpool deserve to get the equivalent for one player.

What Abramovich gives to charity he stole from Russian people 50 times over.
