I was in the box office the other day and heard that so far only 250 tickets have been sold for the Sunderland game. I know it's an expensive time of year especially with the Liverpool game coming up, but I thought more would go as it is a Saturday. Can anyone recommend a hotel close to the ground or station that isn't too expensive? Also those of you going to Sunderland by train, what time are you leaving as I've done no research yet.

I lived in Sunderland for three years, and there are a couple of b&bs about, but as for hotels there is one called the Mowbary PASrk hotel, which is a two minute walk from the station and it used to be 45 poun a night. A good pub in Sunderland is called Laings, and for nightclubs, go to Annabels or Pzazz.

A few years ago, when the amazing Carlo Veart was plying his trade at Palace, there was a guy in the Arfur, who used to shout "come on digger, keep yer 'ead up lad !" to general amusement. Poor old Carlo would usually get so embarrassed that he would fluff the amazing 30 yd defence-splitting pass that he had been working on

- Was that you DIGGER ???

Anyone going for a drink a good boozer is Laings on Oliver Street, a five minute walk from the station, and about 20 minutes from the gound, but a taxi will only cost about 4 pond. I reccomend it as it used to be my local

I'm going!

maybe the reason not many tickets have been sold is because the game was off on monday. I for one was going to pick up my ticket then.

I hope we do have alot of us there to show our support. I think the team needs it with the recent couple of results.

Can't rely on the bloody trains for that length of journey, also there's apparently major works planned on East Coast line this weekend ... so we're driving to this one.

I want to go to the Sunderland match and was waiting for details about tickets to go up on the official CPFC website. But I'm buggered if I can see the info. That's why I haven't got my tickets yet.

Are there still coach places available? What time are they leaving Selhurst?

I am planning to go, though I am not looking forward to the journey, nor (since I realised the number of suspensions) to the likely outcome of the match!

Travelling with 3 Hull City fans eager to see Palace after w/cup win and our impressive unbeaten run.

Now after Gillingham, and Sunderland unbeaten at home, oh s*d it !!

I can't believe the coaches are leaving at 6.30am!

Did the recent storms pick up the City of Sunderland and deposit it somewhere north of Glasgow??

What a joke! No wonder there are so few tickets sold.

Is it all ticket BTW?

I was up in Sunderland for New Year (and watched the game versus Ipswich on New Year's Day - Oooof ! I'm not looking forward to Saturday now!).

It took about 4 and a half hours to get there from Wimbledon (on a particularly quiet 30th of December) and 7 hours to get home last night. The traffic was incredible.

Whatever you do, leave as early as you can !

I can't wait to go to Sunderland although I think we will struggle with Tommy and Razor suspended!!!!! Call me thick(well actually, don't!!) seeing as Huddersfield was cancelled will Razor miss the Liverpool game?

Obviously you mean with Tommy and FAN suspended - Razor being out is clearly an advantage.

Yes, thank God. And I haven't stopped laughing since I found that out. He must be soooo p*ssed off and it's exactly what he deserves. Excellent. http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Ok so he is a bit tempremental(or however it is spelt) but PLEASE agree he is better than Harrison? Anyway nuff bout Razor - I think Sunderland will be a blindin day out as long as they don't get their own back and decide to cancel it!!!!

I'll also be up at the Sunderland game. I'm travelling up to the north- east on friday and staying with a mate in Newcastle(so at least I can avoid the hassle of a 6.30 coach from Selhurst!!!) Anyway I'm really looking forward to doing another new stadium although if last saturday's result against Ipswich is anything to go by then we're going to be up against it.

Just watch out for the snacks in the stadium.

Yorkie - 65p
Packet of crisps - 60p

All right, the Yorkie's king size, but still http://www.cpfc.org/ubb/eek.gif

Palace box office are saying yes Neil - but you can bet it isn't - they say that for virtually all the away games now (so that they can shift tickets).

With so few being sold - you can bet they will be available on the day as well.

As for 6.30 - yup - the coach service continues to be a joke and a farce !!!

It is now apparently NOT all ticket.

Thanks for the info Tomario. I've booked at the Mowbray Park.
It looks like I'll be doing alot of travelling this weekend. Sunderland and back, a couple of hours at home, then upto Brum for work. Hopefully the result will keep me going.
For the Palace train, I noted that the fare is £33 return. Can I go up on this train, and return in the morning; or do I have to pay a different fare?

lightweight
04-01-2001, 03:01 AM
the £33 train fare would be for returning the same day.

Up to you whether you want to risk it the next day - but at the moment the trains are so bad you might find it quite easy. They let us get away with it on the way back from Norwich last season on the Sunday & no-one even checked our tickets on the way back from Crewe on Sunday the other week!!!

Only trouble is if you do have to pay - I think it's generally the full whack.

tomario
04-01-2001, 04:04 AM
why are they making it all ticket, i can not see it being a sell out.
