Well I had some luck at the right time but then you have to to beat over 900 people - or to win any tournament really. At the end there anything can happen.

Funny thing - played the 7k tourney earlier and got AA 8 times (some sort of record??) or maybe 9 - I was losing count. And I only won two! The first one was a guy who called my pf raise with 52 and flopped two pair! Anyway, with all those rockets I managed to come 21st for about $50 then I win the next one for $5k and I can't remember getting AA at all!! KK a couple of times and QQ JJ a few admittedly but all the same...

I could see the chat and everything. I couldnt chat as I have not made a deposit on there.

I am having a mini battle with them as I dont have a US or Uk credit card and so cant deposit at the moment as the BVI is one of the blacklisted countries due to money laundering.

All sorts of palava to try and make a deposit.

Nice job Paul, would have liked ot have watched you take it down :)

Got W$ for the seat but will be played tomorrow I think.

Played well in Walsall until final hour before close of play. 10 9 on a 985 board was no good against 85. Could have played it better but alas, knocked out in final few before the end of the evening. Played well, NO big hands apart from AK a couple of times and managed to get my stack from 10k to 37k at one point. Had phone nicked yesterday, get knocked out late tonight so didn't make bash in CHeltenham, left car lights on so have to get AA out at casino as the cars DEAD, then can't get into my brothers house while he's raving it up at the custard factory. I run so bad :(

I don't think I have been paid out!!

My name appears in a tournament lobby described as a "holding tank" for people who have qualified to the 500 opening event on Dec 1st - see link...

http://www.dtdpoker.com/tournaments.php?selectedcategory=1&selectedid=25

The satellite I won was 60+6 15 runners 1 seat

The satellite that wasn't was 8 to the 60 - no seats!!

I'm confused, your in the holding tank because of the win the other day. What happened earlier on when it didn't reach its guaran?>

there was no seat just the pool was given out as prize money for two places. pretty pointless as the idea was to win a seat not play for ages to win pocket money back!!

I just busted out through boredom and irritation and just paid direct into the 60+6

um, tricky. Inclined to think you need him to have JJ here! pot odds say call and therefore allin probably but I am fairly convinced we're losing - I have him on AA/KK I think - his reraise is minimum and encouraging you to stay in.

given stage of game I probably cut loss and fold while I can still rebuild from where i am.

Yeh, His preflop raise didint feel like kings or aces although the min raise was very fishy. Out of curiousity (hoping to see an under pair) I pushed all in and found myself up against 9's.

Why did you not re raise his raise?

by flat calling you have no idea what hand he is on. if you reraise and he calls, you can put him on ak or maybe aq. If you reraise and he raises that you can put him on aa, or kk.

The trouble is by flat calling him you leave yourself exposed to situations like this.

Nothing to see here at the moment. bled away half chips with no cards then managed to get them back off a big stack calling station with AK just before break. Now I've bled away again!

Hate these tournaments where you get no cards, and you can't steal cos there are some really loose players calling anything and betting at you on flop - gotta play tight and then get nothing to play with!

I started playing at Paradise and really liked it. Winnable tourneys of decent size and structure and nice interface.

However it was decimated when it lost American players and the tourneys were no longer worth playing which is when I went to Full Tilt. If I played cash though I would be more than happy to play there

Just a question for players who play on US/offshore poker companies such as Paradise, PokerStars, etc. I have always disliked using these sites as withdrawals tend to be arduous and complicated whereas english betting companies can transfer money direct to your bank account within 2-3 days.

I remember on Battlefield poker once before I ended up getting a cheque which took 2 weeks to arrive, was made from a Lebanese bank in USD and took 5 weeks to clear at a less favourable exchange rate.

I just wondered to all players what method do you use to make withdrawals and how long does it take, do you lose a lot in transfer fees e.g with neteller, etc?

And can someone tell me the theory about drawing hands.

have KA, raise 4 x BB flop comes K 3 4, I get called all in, call the all in, and guy behind calls as well. He has K 10 so have him covered, other guy who had a bigger stack has 56, turn 2 for straight. Why is he pushing all in on the flop and what value does he have.

Second pot, have AK again, again raise to 4 x BB, get one caller, flop comes AK8 (two hearts), again am called all in, I call again, he has nothing on the flop, but has two suited cards, turn is a heart. Again why is he calling like this.

9 outs on the second hand, 8 on the first, are these really all in shoves on the flop?

When you say you 'get called all in' d you mean someone moves all in and you call? Is he first to speak. It is obviously a strange move being first to speak, if you've raised, had a caller and then he shoves it's a bit more explainable. If we could see HH it would be easier to make a better analysis of the situation but as you say, it sounds strange. The second not so strange....

Well, yes he pushes first. I'm talking about more of the concept in shoving all in with a draw rather than specific examples. There is no real difference between the two, as there is only one more out on the flush than the straight draw.

Paul Romain
05-11-2007, 07:40 PM
Saul its a bit confusing when you keep saying you have been called when you haven't bet! Hand histories make it a bit easier to follow

And the second one is slightly different because the board would help his push to keep callers away I guess

When I've withdrawn from Party before the exchange rate has been horrific. I don't know if that's everyone's experience but thought I'd pass that along.

Neteller's the best way, isn't it?

se1eagle
05-11-2007, 08:27 PM
Most of the US sites will accept Visa deposits and do free cheque withdrawals which does the trick the majority of the time. If I need a quick withdrawal I use Neteller - it took a while to get my account approved (had to fax passport/driver's license etc but all sorted now). They do however charge something like 5% for every transaction so I try to use them as rarely as possible.

I gotta plug Full Tilt when it comes to cash games - I absolutely *love* the software, there's lots of traffic, datamining is explicitly allowed and the 27% rakeback is decent. The hand history viewer is just leagues ahead of any other site. Now if only they'd let me win ;)

Cant win today. Seems like ive lost nearly every race.
Made 3 sets on the flop and each lost twice to top pair who made runner runner for flushs and the other had a higher set.

In the examples you mentioned the player had a bare flush draw (or bare straight draw) which shouldn't just be shoved. I think it's perfectly reasonable to semibluff raise a c-bet with a bare draw - however this can inflate the pot and force you to call a further bet.

I'll often shove the flop with a combo draw like two overcards + flush draw (eg I have AhQh, the flop comes two hearts, T high and aggro villain reraises my C-bet with what I suspect to be at best top pair). If he calls my shove I'm a 54% favourite against top pair, only a 25% dog against a set (which needs to be a tiny part of his range to make the play profitable), and if not then I pick up the pot.

Standard stuff.

My favourite part of poker happened last night. When a mug cold calls your raise with garbage, hits his hand big but you nail your hand.

JJ raise, couple of callers.

Flop J77 (rainbow)

Two others go crazy I just follow along.

Turn brick, it gets capped.

River brick, one goes away other caps.

D'head flips over 72o.

Studying multi-tabling NL on stoxpoker.com whilst I keep accumulating at limit.

I do very well at NL at the casino (almost impossible not to) but prefer multi-tabling limit online (might be a comfort thing, might be an enjoyment thing, but I can't argue with the results).

Have you had a look at deucescracked at all Oz? I think it's pretty much solely limit videos/training.

Cardrunners has some excellent limit stuff but it's generally high stakes and over my level - it's a shame they don't have a low-limit limit series for NL people wanting to try FL. I'd like to improve my hand-reading and this seems a big benefit of playing at limit.

I had a similar hand last night when I hit KK and the guy raised, I re-raised and then he called every one of my raises to the river and put himself all-in. He had J 3 os....

I was so amazed I then sat out and studied the hand history for ages trying to work out what he was chasing. There was no pair, no suited cards, no straight.

Sick alert on 25NL. Firstly have AA and get called all in pre-flop which is what you want, he turns over AA for split pot.

Then I have 44, flop comes QKA, checked round to turn, where I hit my set of 4s, he bets, I flat call him, river comes 9, which gives him set over set. Meh.

That guy on your right doesn't look like he'd appreciate you stealing his blinds!

Short stacked with 4 players left.
Look at aces. All in and I get four callers!
Anyways, they check it around, flop turn, river.
There's two tens out there, not much else, one of the tens on the river.
"No-one's got a ten do they?"
One of them flips over AT after I show my aces, other bloke had A9, :clown:

Last two live tourneys I've gone out on aces. Both times people hitting trips on the river. Both times on the bubble. :moo:

Alright, I;ve got a hand I have a question over.

15 players left in a tourny. Blinds are 200/400. Both players have a short stack of 7000 ish, and are in the
bottom third opf players.

Player A has 9 10 off suit. Player B has A J OS.
Player B gets on the face of it a pretty bad best.

BUT... questions:

if player A thinks B does not have a high pair, and knows he is going first, then so long as the ace or king
does not come, A knows he can move big and force B to fold. He gets lucky and
can rake in the money when he gets his trips which are more or less invisible. But player B is apoplectic, says eg:

callin a fckin reraise with 910

u called a fckin reraise with 9 10, did u kno 2 10s wer commin? if it comes 1 10 with the ace wat do u do? fold and throught away 2k?

ur so fckin clueless its unreal

basicly u called a reraise with 10 high hopein u hit trips

etc

Does player B have a point, or did player A outthink him (even though he was then helped massively by the cards!)

Are B's points valid, and was it a stupid play that got lucky?

I suppose it boils down to whether the call in bold was a dumb or smart (though acute) move...

Depends, on many things. Mainly depends on how your opponent plays and what you believe he might have. If you are confident you could push him off a dry board then it is a good play, if he's someone who won't fold ace high then it's probably not such a great play.

Whenever I get a player "sooking it up" about a play, I just tell them I was confident I could outplay him/her post flop. That either shuts them up or gets them fired up even more. :D

Yer, I thought they were pushing and didn't have a high pair, and that I had a fair chance of getting a decent whack out of it. I know I was forcing action to some extent. They were one of those who think it's all about pre-flop. A couple of wise old hands backed me up amidst the arguments afterwards.

Final table just started, better concentrate.

I think the key thing too is when he said "I'm beat" but pushed his chips in anyway.

My closing comment to him was "I outplayed you, and the cards knew it" ;)

Can't win a hand today. Get AA on 25, two callers of $2, reraise to $7, flop comes down K63 (2 diamonds), I'm first to act, so bet $14 into a $20 pot, small stack pushes all in, turns over 6J suited (diamonds), and two diamonds on turn and river, give the flush despite me spiking trip aces.

Oooops!!!

Taken from cardplayer.com

With a board of AKJ10Q, Nick Schulman moves all in for almost 25,000 into the tiny pot and Men "The Master" Nguyen quickly calls all in behind him. Seat 3 folds and Tom Dobrilovic moves all in behind. Seat 6 announces that he is all in and now it is up to Beth Shak to make her decision. After a few moments, she decides to muck her cards.

Of course, the players turn over their cards and begin to laugh. Schulman says, "Every little chip helps," as he collects his piece of the pot. Nguyen can't stop laughing and Seat 3 still has no idea what is going on. Dobrilovic, who held pocket fours, stays silent and Seat 6 disappointingly shows his counterfeited Q-7 offsuit.

Unbelievably awful and two of them did it (folded)!!! :moo: :moo: :moo:

Having an argument with a guy at work about this. He says vegan213 should have pushed all-in after she re-raised pre-flop.

I tried explaining that she's advertising a big hand and vegan is wetting himself cos she hasn't got anything that can beat him at this point, so he's trapping.

My mate is worried about her having KK and drawing a K on the board..... I cannot persuade him otherwise.

Just took a $20 + $2, 20 runner PL Omaha tourney down for $250. Played a hand abysmally early and was left with 800 chips, luckily AAragrag held up and got me up to 2K, and then I didn't look back. Got up to 11K, when QQ made trips on flop and gave me flush, royal flush, straight draws and got pushed all in by two others which I gladly called, one of them had all diamonds with no diamonds on board (meh?) and trips held up, that gave me a 26K lead to 10K from 3 others remaining, blinds were still only 200/400 and I was virtually unbeatable, though the winning hand was AAAKK against AAJJ which was a bit harsh.

FTOPS 1 went t*ts up when my AA got outdrawn by AQs hitting a flush on river incidentally

So Hand 14 I get AKs and several limpers

I bottled the raise and limped hoping to be well ahead with disguise only for the guy behind to go all in

Didnt have any choice really so I swallowed hard and pushed and he turned over 4 6!

6 comes on flop and I am swearing.........(and he hit 4 on river for good measure)

This is quite tricky trying to play a rebuy as a freezeout.

Just hit my set on flop with 55, original raiser and one other caller. A flush draw on flop though and I was panicking about someone coming over the top with the draw. Put in pot size bet in the end and they folded so not ideal.

Cramping style a bit when you cant play normal game

Finally a reasonable pot with AA. Note his loose pre flop play. He'd got me off AJ with A on the board earlier with two huge reraises that didn't smell right but was forced to fold. Glad I did ...

Raise or fold pre-flop?
Especially when out of position.

Yes, but the guy was raising every single hand, mostly on junk, and he's hit two pair on flop, made a donkey call on flop and been rewarded and bet when he is well behind, which is the annoying thing and then outdrawn me. But yes A8 or any Ax is usually going in the muck.

Havent played that badly for ages. Tried to play ultra aggressive and it backfired. Pushed in for over 100k into a pot of 95k and a guy called with 99 with 2 overs on the board. Needless to say I had a lower pair but had rep'd a big pair from the start!
From there made a few moves at the wrong times and its all over.

I caught some of the final table and the winner was pretty damn lucky.
Twice called all ins with 44 and caught a set on both occasions. Think his AQ beat AQ as well.

Paul's 1st Law of Poker:

When one is dealt QQ another player will always be dealt AK and in this instance other laws of mathematical probability relating to the chances of an A or K appearing on the board no longer apply - being substituted by a figure of 100% at all times.

Paul's 2nd Law of Poker:

When one is the player dealt AK, Paul's 1st Law of Poker is automatically reversed

If poker was my only income I'd have died fromstarvation a long time ago!!

Screwed up just after break in Omaha $20. Blinds 75/150. My SB so just 2 limpers. A2 makes A22 full house on turn, no reraises or any preflop action, so when the river comes an innocuous card and the other guy bets just 150 into a 2K pot, I reraised him all in and he turns over AA for the higher full house. Didn't expect that...

What table are you on Paul and Ill rail. takes me an age to find peoples names

Have had a shit day playing in a home game. In 7 hours I get one hand which was JJ. I raise all in and get called by 4 others needless to say I got busted by A3 suited that hit an ace.

Every other hand I had bottom pair or straight draws none of which landed. took all my control to only lose 30 bucks

which didnt actually prove very interesting at all- she was short stacked and pushed a couple of times to double back having lost it again bluffing into a high card flop with 33

I was also short but wasnt so lucky.

There were also a lot of very sad Annette groupies railing and desperately trying to get her to reply to their idiotic chat

Sitting on final table of 2.1K guaranteed on 2nd break (peanuts for some in here). Haven't actually sneaked in this time and am 3rd so hoping to cash a bit higher than usual. Think the first one is worse. Get raised by gutshot and reraised by straight draw, then gutshot hits on turn and straight hits on river, so from being ahead out of four players on the flop end up last on the river. Meh.

Strathclyde Eagle
14-11-2007, 11:58 AM
Unless I've read that incorrectly you're up against two guys with open-ended straight draws. They've both got eight outs. I know you're well ahead with two pair on the flop but to only bet half the pot gives them odds to chase (not sure I'd raise given that they've also got position on you, but that's another matter).

Then again, quite how you're meant to put them on QJ and 89 respectively is another matter altogether.

I was talking about on the flop. Just played in a 2K guaranteed tourney, top 30 paid, blinds 500/1000, 31 left, get 77 in unraised pot, all covered by my stack about 7K apart from BB with about 16K, push all in to steal blinds, all fold, big stack calls with 99 and out. Don't know what I was doing, hadn't played a bad hand whole tournament and went out on the bubble in 31st.

Perfectly legitimate play on the bubble with a lot worse than 77 I would have said. Take advantage of other people tightening up and you have a decent hand. You only have to get past one player and you're unlucky. I would have done exactly the same.

I know the other player is a big stack, but would many of us want to commit half of it to a hand where you're calling with 99? Even if someone is making a move with A/K/Q/J/10-rag you'd have to be worried about the overcard hitting? Why take the risk?
