Lost QQ v AK when I shoved a 789 board and he called in the £200 FO. Not enough runners to make it worthwhile playing again imo, played a little bit of cash, lost a bit but I got engaged on Friday so no worries. GOOD TIMES :D

Its a poker network that uses the same players across the board for different sites, like dtd poker, world poker tour poker, sun poker and the one i use william hill poker. as i thought that website doesn't track it aww well.

im fuming a little because i lasted a field of 360 ppl to get to 46 people left in the sunday 40k on william hill poker and get busted by jq all in with my ak would have set me up nicely there for the 20000 dollars first prize but aww well. not nice that i was 6 off the bubble either grrr. 4 hours well spent hehe. it only cost me 2 pound to enter so nearly the best investment of my life.

and sam congrats

I'm down over 300BB's in two days. Some amazing shit happening.

The king is dead. Long live the king.

oz_da II
01-01-2008, 10:34 PM
:D

The new king cracks aces with 82 sooooted.
Destroys KK with 69o.
Runs over AK with K4 when K hits the flop and a 4 hits the river.
Raises every hand and when I hit trips with an ace kicker he's flopped a full house...

I could go on...
Moving across to no-limit for a while as I'm completely lost (no confidence) at limit, only took a couple thousand hands from being very comfortable to completely losing it... :clown:

Well, was doing ok in horse tourney, in mid pos through the first five levels, back to limit, get AA, end up vs 66, he hits his 6. And get 10 10 two hands later which gets in against 55 and he hits his 5 so now crippled down to 1K.

saul1664
01-01-2008, 11:06 PM
Fecking hell, limit again hit my set with 55 on 567 board, kept raising where i could but turn 8 and river 9 gives him a straight with 10 3

now got to survive a round of omaha h/l with 991 blinds 150/300

saul1664
01-01-2008, 11:21 PM

lol, she loves it! The chat when you got to the FT last night was incredible! Just got to let it go over your head, at the end of the day they are nobodies in poker with not a $ to their name generally. You've also got to remember that those asking for $5 needed at least $50 in their account to chat to you! LOL

most of the time on poker stars the chat has scrolled past before I can read it and keeps resetting to the latest line every time anyone acts eg, in milliseconds. Is there anyway of locking it or detaching and expanding like you can on Full Tilt? I've never been able to find a way and it is a bit irritating if you are trying to have a sensible chat about something!

Up for the APAT on BLSQ tomorrow? Only $10, not great money for placing unless you win, but decent structure.

Sorry mate - didnt realise I had support tonight. Not been feeling too well the last couple of days and could hardly focus on the table never mind post on here too - and as I was trailing the field from about the last 150 runners I never got to a point where I thought it was worth watching!!

(for others info I managed to short stack my way all the way up to 12th in the 32K on FTilt.)

And yeah, I always enjoy a nh from the names - even if it was only for watching my 44 outrace him!

Only got my internet up and running this evening again. You really were short stacked for all the time i was watching and chose your positions well.

My favourite though was when John Newcombe was knocked out with AQ on a Q high board by a huge all in reraise by K7 who rivered his flush. Newcombe went mental for ages it was hilarious I even turned my observer chat on for it as he was a huge tit

Newcombe can often be a bit of a tit and he isnt much of a player either imho- that was v funny though! He seemed to be v upset that anyone dared risk their stack on the bubble when he was trying to take advantage of it - neglecting to consider that in actually calling the reraise he had done exactly the same. I thought the massive reraise was a reasonable move myself.

Chester

Agree with the reraise I would like to think I would have laid it down. Him going apeshit was priceless especially with all the rubbish he had been talking.

Big Rissky just sucked out on someone big time with a runner runner flush

3 to 1 big stack now

Brutal hand when Rissky's Ak lost to KQ when a queen spiked, basically flipped the chip stacks upside down leaving Rissky massively short stacked

I've got a few quick questions.

Tournaments: Play with 10 to 15 BBs

General consensus tends to be that when you have ten big blinds or less it is time to stick it all in.

However what do you do if you have about 10 to 15 big blinds? Do you tend to stick it all in pre-flop, or still put in a standard raise and play accordingly?

(Consider it open-ended, feel free to discuss players acting before, after, their stack sizes, etc.)

Making the leap...

For pretty much anyone on here, what's was the thing which you found helped you improve your standard? Observation of other players? Knowledge of your own weaknesses? Recognising when you're playing badly? Knowing when to change gears?

I just feel like a break-even at best player at the moment. Looking for an edge. :)

I'm looking to play strong hands only, or find good stealing spots to attack other medium stacks blinds, and I'm looking to identify players who are good enough to lay down to a reraise that I may be able to resteal from. Oh and you may be able to get away with a 2 to 2.5 xBB raise as standard - depends on the table and what tends to take down the blinds

Making the leap...

Reading books and mags, and playing. Biggest changes I've made were understanding continuation betting, being aggressive around the button, and playing for the win and not just to limp into the cash

I've yet to make the leap :)

But 90% of my play is pschological. If my head is right I think I'm a reasonable player and I generally make money, if its not then I lose. I've yet to be disciplined properly about this, but I'm getter better at recognising when I should or shouldn't play.

On a practical note, being able to lay down big hands and not getting pot committed with big hands helped my play.

Also not being so afraid of betting into people when I have nothing brought my play on a lot.

Join Cardrunners, or some other training site - I've improved hugely since I did and although I can still do idiotic things even I'm now a consistent winner. With CR you really are learning from the very best out there so you can't go far wrong if you put in the study. There are lots of top quality videos that will give you a really secure understanding of fundamentally solid preflop and postflop play. Also the CR forum is far more helpful to a learning player than the 2p2 forum so you can get some really good feedback on any hands you weren't sure about.

Also if you want to do a sweat session sometime, I'd be happy to watch you play (or vice versa) and discuss hands. It's pretty easy to set up using Skype/Unyte (both free) and I've found it really helpful.

Well at the very basic level I just started doing it!! Previously if I missed flop I checked, but as soon as I got that most flops miss most people then I started leading out even if I missed.

However, one thing I would say is that most books advocate 3/4 pot bets. I find that online, especially early in tourneys, this doesnt do the job but pot size bets do.

Secondly, don't try it on more than one person, or maybe two if they are tighter players.

Thirdly, don't try it if the flop is rich in draws - say Jh 10h 8c

Lastly, I quite often fire another bet off on the turn if my stack can take it and the flop bet got called

SamTheOldGoat
06-01-2008, 06:25 PM
Agreed. Cash cames 3/4 of the pot continuation EVERY time is good :)

Sam, of course I'll take a % mate, you can just ship me some buxxxxxxx when you take her down. I'll be back from Birmingham in time for the FT I think ;)

Something really bizarre happened in that hand....

When the JJ raised I wanted to reraise all in but the software only offered me fold or call - the "raise to" and slider weren't there . So I had to call and call again when he went allin

and with no hand histories too I am getting a bit suspicious of full Tilt

Comments?

I'd re-install the software and if that doesn't work send them off an email.

Cheers mate, will keep that in mind. Good advice.

A bit of Hollywood there with the steal? ;)

Paul Romain
07-01-2008, 01:42 AM
QJoff - I probably should have called but the guy hasnt played a hand for ages - i had bad vibe. Also - having just got into a good position I chickened out of chucking 6000 back again!

But the odds for the call were right I guess

Paul Romain
07-01-2008, 01:45 AM
In fact the more I think about it the more I'm annoyed with myself

oz_da II
07-01-2008, 01:45 AM
Yep that's marginal, I'm siding with the fold, just...

Chester
07-01-2008, 01:46 AM
If you are going to tilt do it elsewhere!

I fold also

Paul Romain
07-01-2008, 01:50 AM
Hmmm...well I was getting 9/4 on the call I think and I'm probably 6/4 to most hands he shoves with. Cant think at the moment!

Paul Romain
07-01-2008, 01:53 AM
that was 88 with implied odds for the call from blind

Paul Romain
07-01-2008, 01:56 AM
Well we have some $$$ at least - with all the satty wins (about 6 from 8 attempts I think) I'm well ahead of the game already

Paul Romain
07-01-2008, 01:58 AM
Incidentally when I won the 31k in this tourney back in Oct I folded to a resteal on final table bubble in similar fashion and got some fearful stick from the rail....but it turned out to be quite a valuable fold :D

She made standard button raise with a caller from the big blind.
Flop- BB- check, Annette- Min raise??, BB Insta calls
Turn- BB bets- 2/3 pot, Annette uses all her time bank before flat calling.
River- BB bets 1/3 Pot, Annette use all the time she can before reraising all in. BB folds.

Shes played about 1/3 of the hands since ive been watching

calling, raising or reaising mainly?

Paul Romain
07-01-2008, 02:12 AM
i ask because I read her style with chips is just constantly coming over the top of people but the only times I've played her she's been relatively shortstacked and playing standard

samtheeagle
07-01-2008, 02:12 AM
Mainly just raising. Few hands before that she raised 3xBB UTG with 78 suited. One caller from mid position.
Flop Came A, Rag, Rag. She pushed all in into a 7k pot and got called by AK who had about 16k left.

Having said that her kK just got done by AJ

Paul Romain
07-01-2008, 02:19 AM
utg raise is pretty powerful from big stack late on - I've started doing it with similar hands recently to good effect. Much higher proportion get round than you would think. need to make sure BB isnt stacked and can get in for cheap call tho

Dear Full Tilt

Please stop swapping the tables that Jim5432 is on as it puts my heart in my mouth that he has been knocked out and i missed a massive hand rather than you just being turds.

Having been following him for about 5 hours you can imagine my concern

Kind regards

Chester

Paul Romain

Flat called the raise with AK there - going nowhere with it after that! thought about the big reraise preflop but he had position so thought I would have a look. Reraise may have taken it though?
